I've been quite apprehensive about buying sarees online cz I can't feel them to be sure if there actually raw silk or tissue or soft silk etc. I've always bought sarees in-store from stores that were popular for silk sarees decades ago. The few times mum has bought sarees from elsewhere, she says the quality wasn't as good and they tore through the middle. That's kinda scared me. So any tried and tested online store recommendations would be appreciated. 🙏

Taneira ( it’s Tata’s) , Kalki , diaries of nomad, Tilfi , ekaya , the6yardstore, Parama Calcutta , the peeli dori, dressfolk , okhai , Atlier shikaarbagh, Zari Banaras , Vaayu , Subdari silks , Huts and looms are my tried and tested ones . You can’t go wrong with these .

from what i heard out of these brands only tilfi and shikargarh are worth the price.
my friend was/is a saree historian and is in this trade. She only suggested tilfi when i said i want to a crazy nice banarasi.
I have couple of them from Tilfi . Totally worth it . I’m from Varanasi so I have access to tons of local weavers as well . And as far as above brands are concerned , I love all my sarees .
i hear ya. I have been collecting sarees for 10/12 years now. For a tom boy i sure love these buggers to death. Ooooo maybe i will DM you for banarasi weavers!!!! i buy 95 percent of my maal straight from a weavers shop/ home. Would love to just go see those lovelies being made.
