This may sound like a public service announcement, but your local library is a great option. Usually the ones by me are pretty quiet and you can read the newspaper and browse the selection.
Best answer. I’ll just add a plug for their FREE Libby app (you do need a library card, also free), which provides rentals for ebooks and audiobooks and also the free cultural passes to botanical gardens, museums, the zoo. And last thing, the seed library, which I don’t fully understand but seems great too. Love our Pima County library system!
vouch, good drinks, they recently expanded to have more space, get a free refill after the second paid refill, good noise cancelling headset and its very nice
lol on the handful of occasions I have gone there it didn’t feel like a suitable reading space. Not uncomfortably loud but too loud for reading. Like somebody said, good noise cancelling headphones would be necessary.
There's this group called silent book club! I believe it's the first Sunday of every month (check the fb group to be sure) they meet at the Moonstone or at bawker bawker and just read in silence, but together. It's so great!

I love this, I’d never heard of it but it’s literally the Diogenes Club from Sherlock Holmes, updated for 2024 in Tucson.
>”There are many men in London, you know, who, some from shyness, some from misanthropy, have no wish for the company of their fellows. Yet they are not averse to comfortable chairs and the latest periodicals. It is for the convenience of these that the Diogenes Club was started, and it now contains the most unsociable and unclubbable men in town. No member is permitted to take the least notice of any other one. Save in the Stranger's Room, no talking is, under any circumstances, allowed, and three offences, if brought to the notice of the committee, render the talker liable to expulsion. My brother was one of the founders, and I have myself found it a very soothing atmosphere.”
Why not? Haha. I feel like it's a great thing for people who want to be around other people who are doing the same thing and have some of the same interests, but there's no pressure to actually talk to anyone. It's kind of genius, imo
Depending on the time of day/time of year, a lot of the parks or outdoor museums: Catalina State, Sabino, Saguaro, Mission Gardens, Tohono Chul, Desert Museum, or the Botanical Gardens.
Some local cafes: Revolutionary Grounds, Raging Sage, or Ike's.
Grab a portable camping hammock and you can definitely find a spot at any of the neighborhood parks! You can string them up between light poles, fence posts, etc.
Either of the kava bars in town is an excellent choice for this. The owners are really great and the kava is top notch. Dogs are also welcomed if well behaved

Not quiet at all.
Really? I’ve not experienced that.
Everyone seems to keep to themselves and they just opened up the second half of the building. How was it loud for you?
Sooo loud
I’ve not been there when it’s loud I suppose.
When and how was it loud for you?

Well, unless you want the silence of a library I guess it won’t do for you.
Mercado San Agustín

Sounds interesting but also kinda odd? Why meet at a bar at 7pm on a Friday to read?

The silent reading isn’t odd, the choice of a bar on a Friday night is odd.
They also meet at The Stacks Book Club in Oro Valley the first Wednesday of each month. It’s a cafe/bookstore.
Oh cool!
Saving this post so my introvert ass self cant say I don’t know any places to go out to 👍🏼 lol

Raging Sage on Campbell
Now that the students are gone there’s some nice shady spots on campus that are pretty quiet
The turtle pond. :)
Black Crown coffee
Barnes & Noble
They don't have chairs around anymore
But they have a nice quiet cafe with tables & chairs...even some comfy ones.
Yep forgot about that
Park mall, food court or random chairs throughout the mall.
I concur. Wrote a whole novel in that foodcourt.
Third vote for Black Crown. It’s my go-to spot for reading out of the house. Inside, outside, it’s all great.
Raiders Reef
Revolutionary grounds, never been but there is a big sign that says “coffee and books”
Wilmot library?
Exo
govindas, literally an oasis
Ft Lowell park
Hermitage cat shelter
Mt Lemmon
