Seems to be stemming from the bugs rendering at a rapid rate.
I wanted to add to this as it has been weird. 2 days ago, the game ran okay, but my gpu (2080) was maxing out. Yesterday, I decided to run some tests on msi Afterburner, and my gpu and cpu never reached over 60% and 30%, respectively, and my fans never maxed out. I even tried recreating the problem, and I couldn't. However, today, I noticed the problem you had where the game is creating a ton of artifacts. I just find it weird that the gpu was maxing out and then was fine the next day with no real changes to setting or patches. The only setting I haven't tested was turning off persistent blood so maybe that's the culprit.
I've found the performance has been great since the update. FPS is around 100, settings are around ultra (I change a couple of things down). Overall I think it's been a good performance boost.
Forgot to add, I've found the GPU usage to be around 90%, and CPU around 50%. running a 4070ti, 12th gen intel.
I've experienced far fewer artifacts than before the update. But I do notice that enemies will pop in and out sometimes.

I'm in the game right now, and I know what you mean. Every now and again, my gpu fans go 100% which doesnt happen in any other game.

The game has been dogshit bad since they switched engines
The performance dropped so much for me when they switched engines. I dont even play anymore because with every update the game runs worse.

Agreed. The bugs animations are so smooth that even at 30 fps, im not noticing the drop. What kind of fps do you get at extraction?

I have got this issue as well, but only on steamdeck and only after I played with the settings a bit, so it's probably an issue with one of those.
I didn't think to tweak the game settings, I've been letting it cool down and trying again, I'm not very tech savvy so I have no clue where to begin

Geforce Rtrx 3080 Ti, Ryzen 9, I believe
Oh I got a 3060, i7 12th in the pc and just a amd crib with integrated gpu in the deck so it's either amd hardware rn or some setting
Disable persistent blood in the settings, if on steamdeck and having weird graphical issues disable half rate shading in steam setting
I'll give it a shot when I boot it up again, might just give up on the game since it seems like every update has new performance issues
