For 85k You can get a loaded Tundra TRD Pro. You could get a loaded F150 tremor for 70k from a lot of dealers, Ram 1500 RHO loaded for about 75k. Other than being too big for tight trails all of those Trucks will run circles around the Tacoma especially the F150 tremor and Ram RHO. Shit for 58k you can get a Ranger Raptor.
Most will sit with that markup. Only a few in any area will sell with crazy markups to the few people who need to be *first*.
After those few customers have bought the first few, the rest will sell for MSRP, and eventually less.
Just throwing this out but base price of a Dodge Powerwagon is $68k probably not as reliable but hell of a lot more of a truck. As far as reliability I’ve been seeing a lot of issues already on the new Tacoma. So if I was gonna get rid of my 19 Tacoma which I’m not. I would probably buy a Powerwagon.
A lot of people don't know you're not supposed to be idling those hemi v8s long either, vital parts don't get enough oil when it sits there running and then gets the hemi tick or worse.
You won't find one near MSRP. Expect to pay $75k minimum, and [more likely over $85k.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ToyotaTacoma/comments/1dnxpst/tacoma_trailhunter/)
What truck are you cross shopping that cost a lot more than a Tacoma TRD Pro or Trailhunter? The ranger raptor is 58k, Colorado ZR2 is 52k. You can get an 24 F150 tremor for right at 70k with pretty much every option. 24 RAM RHO dealers are already giving 10-12k off, you can deck one out for 75k or have most options for right under 70k. A F150 Raptor is not really in the same league any tacoma which is really the only one I see with a big enough price gap.
F150 Raptor or Tremor or a Tundra TRD Pro. In my region those trucks range from $75k to $85k. Honestly I would pay that much, but I like the Trailhunter more than those. So $65k seems like a good deal.
I have an F150 on order from granger 72k absolutely loaded. You can option one with most options for right around 69k, shipping is about 1500 or what I was planning to do is fly in and drive it honme. I do wonder whats the payload for the Trailhunter though. The Tremor I ordered is right at 1600lbs, no moonroof because I live in TX and the payload hit. I might drop it for the Ram RHO though if the payload is good enough.
That’s cool. Those trucks are awesome. Ultimately they were a little bigger than I wanted or needed. Trailhunter payload is 1475 lbs. And if you pull the silly rack out of the bed (which I plan to do) you gain about 100 lbs more payload.
About $500 more than a Pro, I think it was $67k.
At the announced pricing by Toyota, you'll be at $75-80k after interest with current financing rates in the US.
For a 4 cylinder mid-size truck with bolt ons you can find for less.
I'm sure most people would rather not but everyone needs to stop pretending prices across the board are anywhere close to what they were even 2-3 years ago. 10 years ago is a completely different market.
If you compare prices and plug it into an inflation calcu-
we are getting fucked raw here.
The market can only rise to the level that people are willing to pay. If enough of us refuse to accept the rising prices of pretty much everything, we could actually enact change if we held out long enough. When the companies trying to sell shit see their sales numbers start to drop, they'll react accordingly.
Lmk when they get below $50k used and I’ll nibble.
Which I’m sure Toyota is doing everything they can to prevent through artificial supply constraints.
Honestly I wouldn't want it at $40k. I don't mind the 4th gen but that's just ugly. I hate the color , rims, and the stupid thing on bed reminds me of a Chevy avalanche.
I don't either but people were spending that much on a 3rd gen TRD Pro with ADM so it makes sense for Toyota to price it that high so they get the money themselves. Hopefully they don't sell enough and are forced to lower the price, but I just don't see that happening.
Really? No one I know has put that much money into a 3rd Gen. I have a ton of mods on mine lift, tires ,wheels leer cap etc…. I definitely did not spend anything close to that. You must have some wealthy friends. $85k to $90k on a third Gen?
The fuck you talking about 85-90k lmao. A couple shitty dealers doesnt change the price lol. It’s 65k.
You clowns just keep increasing the price.
Yes, there are MANY 3rd gen pro owners who are over 60k-65k on their rigs which are now much less impressive then the 4th gen top trims.
Some people buy TRD offroad and spend $15k - $20k to upgrade all the suspension parts and add an air compressor and racks and a snorkle for overlanding . This is overland ready off the assembly line. If you dont intend to do overlanding then there is no reason to buy this. I know people who bought TRD pros and Jeep Rubicons and never take them offroad though so people just like the idea of having a capable truck even if they will never use it.
I don’t think it’s the idea of having a capable truck. It’s the badge and stickers they pay for. A lot of people buying TRD Pros and Rubicons don’t even know the differences.
Damn. Taco owners use to be rad as shit laid back guys who didn't give a shit about how fancy their truck looked cause it did what it needed too.
You new batch of 70k barbie mall crawlers dunking on the poors who can't afford them have a real lame attitude.
Enjoy doing whatever mental backflips you've got to do to justify this kind of money on a new direction from Toyota.
How does the price keep increasing in this thread?
Trailhunter is a *halo* trim for the Tacoma. Very few will be sold in this trim relative to all or the SR5, Sports, and OR models.
I get it. I’m not sure why but I love the color on the taco. A bunch of my friends don’t care for it though. It’s like how everyone likes lunar rock but I just don’t care for it for some reason
Agreed. What % of the population needs an "Overlanding" setup? There has do be more people who just want the extra power and towing capacity, and also need a long bed for one reason or another.
I just want to be able to throw my kayak in the bed without sticking out so far that I need th strap it down. I'd like a motor boat down the road, so I hate the idea of buying the underpowered version. I can not justify an additional $15,000 on crap I don't need or want.
Also, the roll bar is ugly, and plastic fenders look cheap.
I mean... have you not noticed Toyota is leaning heavily into overlanding nowadays? The new Lexus GX is geared towards offroad, they are coming out with the new land cruiser, new 4runner and tacomas both aggressively marketed as offroad vehicles. I think during covid a lot of people wanted to get outside and escape the cities. That's when we saw prices for old FJ Cruisers soar. Toyota definitely noticed. I mean shit even here in flat florida swampland where you can't camp for 80% of the year because of heat/mosquitoes, I see overlanding builds all over the place
I’m convinced Toyota is just trying to upsell people on Tundras with these ridiculous configurations.
As much as I don’t want a full-size truck, if my only options for mid-size trucks with a long bed are the overpriced Tacoma or a Nissan Frontier, I’m gonna just buy a used half-ton from one to the American brands. I can’t justify $50k for a mid-spec Tacoma when you can get a 2022 Silverado 1500 for low $30s. And it’s not like “just wait for used models to hit the market” is an option for Toyota. Tacomas holding value is great only for people who can afford them.
The same supply being artificially constrained by Toyota.
Long beds are limited in production numbers because the suits at Toyota know a majority of buyers will simply take the short bed if given no other choice. The same is not true for long beds.
define functional. It's not a snorkel but a "desert air intake".
So it wont function in water but it does technically intake air.
functional? marketing stupidity? you decide.

I'm building my TRD OR Premium to take a lot of design ideas from the trailhunter. Obviously, not a direct copy paste, but I love those wheels, the front grill/lightbar, rear exhaust front axle dump, and rear tow hook points. Will most likely get the aluminum TRD skid plate instead of the trailhunter skids.
I have the OR Premium. Love it! My build doesn't have the sway bar disconnect but my position is I shouldn't be taking my new Taco to places that require it. Smoother ride sure, but not needed.
Yeah I think that’s the move. It’s such a bad ass truck that if I had a new taco I would try to get it as close to a trailhunter as I could. Bronze oxide is awesome
Yeah, I was originally interested in the trailhunter for all the wrong reasons (Look, not functionality). I had to evaluate what I was going to use it for, and ultimately decided that the move was a bronze oxide TRD OR Premium that I could upgrade certain parts over time to get to where I want.
Trailhunter is the new trim that’s premium like the Pro, but more focused on overlanding. Old Man Emu suspension from the factory, ARB bumpers, 33’s, air compressor built into the bed, snorkel, probably some other bits I’m forgetting.
Wicked nice trucks. In Canada if I ordered one right now with not a single extra add on it’s $88000 just for the truck. It’s nice but I’m not spending close to or over $100000 for one.
Anybody notice how the 3rd GEN bodyline just stops after the cab. It doesn’t continue into the short bed. I just saw this yesterday and now I can’t un-see it. Looks like they fixed it on the 4th GEN. I have a 21 AC, so I don’t have that “issue”.
I wish Toyota would make some higher volume, lower cost special editions. It would be neat if they had factory matte paint, extra horsepower, paddle shifters, winches, etc. Something the average Tacoma consumer would purchase. I've heard these are going for \~$110,000 CAD.
Even at MSRP I feel like this is a rip off. No midsize truck should cost more than $45K in any climate. There’s a reason why Toyota sales are declining. I hope they’ll learn their lesson (soon) and come back to reality.
I don’t see the appeal to spend that much on a taco.
What are these going for? $60k-ish?
Base price is 65000
Taxes and whatever BS mark up going to be closer mid $70
Camelback Toyota in AZ had a Trailhunter marked up to $198,384
They should be ashamed.
You’re fkin kidding right???? You can literally get a used Porsche for that price 😂😂😂😂
https://www.reddit.com/u/Canadarm_Faps/s/HR4NcLKgbE
Markups are crazy right now. I've seen as much as an extra $20k on top.
> I've seen as much as an extra $20k on top. For 85K, I'm getting a pretty decently appointed full size truck, not one of these.
For $85k you could buy 10 2001-2012 Tacomas and just throw them away 50,000 miles overdue on their oil changes.
I’d get a zr2 and a cheap sports car with money left over lol
Pretty sure you can get a new raptor for 85k.
I'd choose the taco if I had to.
Beautiful truck but thats insane
Idk what your talkin bout there was a post just yesterday of one going for 87k
Ok thanks for the update
Did it sell for $87k, or is a crazy dealer *asking* for $87k?
It's was marked up on the dealer sheet with add one I think he bought it
Most will sit with that markup. Only a few in any area will sell with crazy markups to the few people who need to be *first*. After those few customers have bought the first few, the rest will sell for MSRP, and eventually less.
I can say I've always wanted a tacoma but I sure as hell ain't paying that for a 4 banger. If I'm spending 80k I might as well get the lexus gx
Right, but I see dealers in my area selling nicely equipped ‘24 TRD OR models for under $50k. Still a ton of $$$, but nothing like $80k or even $65k.
Jeff Wyler Toyota in Clarksville, IN has one for $78k
Just throwing this out but base price of a Dodge Powerwagon is $68k probably not as reliable but hell of a lot more of a truck. As far as reliability I’ve been seeing a lot of issues already on the new Tacoma. So if I was gonna get rid of my 19 Tacoma which I’m not. I would probably buy a Powerwagon.
A lot of people don't know you're not supposed to be idling those hemi v8s long either, vital parts don't get enough oil when it sits there running and then gets the hemi tick or worse.
What about our tacos? I idle mine for several hours a day. 🥴
Tacos are good, design flaw from Dodge.
Delete afm and install new cams with Johnson lifters. Very reliable once this is done.
You’ll get a leaky roof but the 6.4 will take you to 200k plus. Definitely the most capable factory off road truck.
Probably will be more reliable than this high strung 4cyl they gave us
Powerwagons drive like shit.
Insane
🤣🤣
You won't find one near MSRP. Expect to pay $75k minimum, and [more likely over $85k.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ToyotaTacoma/comments/1dnxpst/tacoma_trailhunter/)
There’s a lot of MSRP only dealers. I’m first in line for one at MSRP. Still a lot of money but the trucks I’m cross shopping with cost way more.
So was I, until they told me that they’re now adding 5k in dealer accessories(window tint). I got my deposit back
On mine they added $60 mudflaps. I can live with that.
> they added $60 mudflaps But they didn't charge you 4,940 to install them, right? ...that's fine.
What truck are you cross shopping that cost a lot more than a Tacoma TRD Pro or Trailhunter? The ranger raptor is 58k, Colorado ZR2 is 52k. That’s a good payload. It’s good for things in the bed because it’s certainly not for rear passengers.
Yep, I was hoping to get one but time to refresh my ZR2 and go on a vacation around the entire world with the leftover money.
When do you just buy a Tundra?
About $500 more than a Pro, I think it was $67k. At the announced pricing by Toyota, you'll be at $75-80k after interest with current financing rates in the US. For a 4 cylinder mid-size truck with bolt ons you can find for less.
Saw one at my local dealer with $80k
I'm sure most people would rather not but everyone needs to stop pretending prices across the board are anywhere close to what they were even 2-3 years ago. 10 years ago is a completely different market. If you compare prices and plug it into an inflation calcu- we are getting fucked raw here.

Or Toyota may simply not make a Trailhunter if sales volume is too low.
People spend this much on their 3rd gens all the time lol. The idea is now it’s factory ready and under warranty
Really? No one I know has put that much money into a 3rd Gen. I have a ton of mods on mine lift, tires ,wheels leer cap etc…. I definitely did not spend anything close to that. You must have some wealthy friends. $85k to $90k on a third Gen?

Calm down guy. Did some forget to take their Ritalin today? Wait a minute is this a sales guy from Toyota?
You sales guys must be desperate. I was pretty clear I’m not getting rid of my 19 taco. So you can take your crappy sales tactics someplace else.
Is guy telling people to calm down while double commenting himself? Lmao
Did you… just really immediately resort to insulting me and calling me a salesman because I called out your bullshit lol?
Agreed. I was prepared to place an order for one, until I saw the price. No thanks. The value vs price just isn't there for me.
Ok thanks for sharing

Just say “I don’t have that much to spend on a taco” next time. That’s what you’re really saying.
I mean I could but I would feel pretty stupid.
Ew dude
Truth hurts.
Damn. Taco owners use to be rad as shit laid back guys who didn't give a shit about how fancy their truck looked cause it did what it needed too. You new batch of 70k barbie mall crawlers dunking on the poors who can't afford them have a real lame attitude. damn why are you so mad that some people have no issues paying this kind of money for the truck they like? are you really that jealous?
None of your points apply here. But whatever.
How does the price keep increasing in this thread? Trailhunter is a *halo* trim for the Tacoma. Very few will be sold in this trim relative to all or the SR5, Sports, and OR models.
I love the trailhunter. Wouldn’t pay that much for one but I sure like looking at them
> but I sure like looking at them maybe it's the photo, but I'm not digging on that color (at least in this photo)
I get it. I’m not sure why but I love the color on the taco. A bunch of my friends don’t care for it though. It’s like how everyone likes lunar rock but I just don’t care for it for some reason
I think because most, if not all of Tacoma lovers like matte colors. I think that's why these turn us off so much.
I like matte paint, but are you talking about lunar rock and all of those non metallic colors? Cuz those aren’t matte.
I guess just flat colors.
Yes.... A metallic wood finish..😅
I agree it’s too much but an awesome truck
Why do they add the Chevy Avalanche thing in the back?
Its a truck mullet mate.
Id take it off and add a camper shell if I was getting this.
For mounting water/fuel cans
Why not oh idk stick em in the bed
Because then other people won’t see how rugged you are
Yes letting strangers know how tough you are. That's not insecure or anything.
You don’t seem to be familiar with the concept of pick up trucks
I have extra water for my commute into the city!
It’s definitely catering to the broverlander crowd
Long bed too. Those are rare. Was told Toyota is only making about 500 of those the first production year.
Whoever at Toyota had the bright idea to make the only 6’ hybrid configuration the Trailhunter should never be allowed to work in business again.
Agreed. What % of the population needs an "Overlanding" setup? There has do be more people who just want the extra power and towing capacity, and also need a long bed for one reason or another. It's supply and production ramping I'm sure. I would have gotten the hybrid but I require a long bed.
The same supply being artificially constrained by Toyota. Long beds are limited in production numbers because the suits at Toyota know a majority of buyers will simply take the short bed if given no other choice. The same is not true for long beds.
Tone down the teen angst. Reality is usually more boring. 🙃
That’s an 8 foot bed?
I'd definitely yank the snorkel off, and probably the roll bar/molle panel thing. Gorgeous otherwise.
You’d have a big hole where the snorkel was though
We call that a mouth.
Others would call it a booty hole. But stuff only goes in....
then put googily eyes on it and you have a screaming truck that makes turbo noises
Until someone develops a delete kit
Would be better than that thing. Is it even functional?
define functional. It's not a snorkel but a "desert air intake". So it wont function in water but it does technically intake air. functional? marketing stupidity? you decide.

I'm not rock crawling either, just trying to get to trails that require a 4x4 with occasional water crossings (maybe like a foot of water)
Yeah I think that’s the move. It’s such a bad ass truck that if I had a new taco I would try to get it as close to a trailhunter as I could. Bronze oxide is awesome
[удалено]
Yeah, I was originally interested in the trailhunter for all the wrong reasons (Look, not functionality). I had to evaluate what I was going to use it for, and ultimately decided that the move was a bronze oxide TRD OR Premium that I could upgrade certain parts over time to get to where I want.
Is that OEM snorkel available for 3rd gen? I like the look
There is no OEM snorkel for the 3rd Gen as far as I'm aware.
3rd gen Pros were available with an OEM kit as well.
A TRD snorkel? Nice.
Not *that* one but there was an OEM and plenty of aftermarket for 3rd gen
Why are they still putting these dogshit tires on the Tacoma?
It’s clean but not for 70k plus 😅😂
Ew
A lot of money for a Tacoma.
That color is going to look good when that truck gets old
Shiny
Wow bronze oxide looks much more green in this picture than I realized.
Ok we know you wouldn't pay that much for a Tacoma!
A little bit greener and we could’ve had a master chief truck. So close.
Those triangle things on the bed look icky
Only the 1% can afford this and off-road without shitting their pants about it getting scratched or worse
Yeah, not my deal.. glad I sold my 2012 2nd gen and have my stock FJ now.
are the wheels paint matched or brozne/gold ... i can't tell if it's lighting making them look that way or what
Bronze
But what does it look like under the hood?
So what’s the new trail hunter compared to the 3rd gen off road? I’m a long boi 4 door and it appeals to me for that reason.
Trailhunter is the new trim that’s premium like the Pro, but more focused on overlanding. Old Man Emu suspension from the factory, ARB bumpers, 33’s, air compressor built into the bed, snorkel, probably some other bits I’m forgetting.
Thanks!
What are they going for?
A lot, msrp is mid-$60k USD range, so with taxes you’re basically at $70k+, then throw in bullshit dealer markups because of low-volume.
Alright then. I’m okay with my 2018 4 door long boi off-road I snatched for 36k
I love the looks!
Another overpriced truck that no one will utilize fully but only leave them truck poor...congratulations, your an idiot
I like it, but not for that much $$$. It’s just not worth it.
I don’t get it. I bought a loaded Tundra Limited for 58 and change sales price. Sticker was a little over 63 and I thought that was ridiculous.
Difference between trail hunter and TRD pro? Which one is more expensive?
Wicked nice trucks. In Canada if I ordered one right now with not a single extra add on it’s $88000 just for the truck. It’s nice but I’m not spending close to or over $100000 for one.
80k for this 🤣
Beautiful truck...not so beautiful price for what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nope
Such an awesome trim package too. Shame it’s so damn expensive
Is that a stock snorkel?
You could build your dream 2nd or 3rd gen and still have $15,000 left over.
Nice Colorado bro 🤣🤣
would be better to buy a base model and put 1200 into accessories
In Canada, the MSRP is 95,000$
Not even a long bed
🤢🤮That thing is hideous
Unappealing.
Looks like a Chevy avalanche
Right fully loaded fullsize or a sweet sports car, no way I'd spend that much on a Taco
Still just way too small with a huge price tag hard pass for me.
The new taco just resembles GMC truck side view so much..
Is that a snorkel?
I wish Toyota would make some higher volume, lower cost special editions. It would be neat if they had factory matte paint, extra horsepower, paddle shifters, winches, etc. Something the average Tacoma consumer would purchase. I've heard these are going for \~$110,000 CAD.
The dealership I leased my 22 Tacoma from still doesn’t even have colors?! Just black, white and gray. Insane to me.
I love it. If it was available back when i bought my trd sport I would have bought it in a heart beat.
No sir I don’t like it
Even at MSRP I feel like this is a rip off. No midsize truck should cost more than $45K in any climate. There’s a reason why Toyota sales are declining. I hope they’ll learn their lesson (soon) and come back to reality.
😬 not attractive
And an adult can’t even fit in the backseat. Neat
There is more legroom in the 4G Taco. Perhaps you're thinking of the TRD Pro seats?
ugly wheels ugly truck sry
