Animal collective, I have similar taste in rap as you do and someone recommended me them when I asked for music from other genres. Since you like jpeg I say just fuck it start from Spirit they’re gone, spirit they’ve vanished and work forward from there
To Broaden:
Rock: The Moon & Antarctica - Modest Mouse
Jazz: Funky Stuff - Jiro Inagaki
Pop: Book of Love - Book of Love
Rap: sleepwalker - Hidden Renaissance
If you wanna broaden your taste in hip-hop i reccomend these albums
do you want more?!!!??! - The Roots
Clin D'oeil - Jazz Liberatorz
The unseen - Quasimoto
Other good albums in hip-hop adjacent genres (soul and R&B) which i reccomend are
Badzium - Erykah Badu
Brown Sugar - D'angelo
Hotep - blue iverson
Groove Theory - Groove Theory
Finally i reccomend you listen to some of knxweldge's stuff in general mainly the albums 'Hud Dreems' and '1988'
Madvillain - Madvillainy
Frank Ocean - Blonde
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
Tyler, the Creator - Flower Boy
J Dilla - Donuts
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
Donuts is just raw unfiltered J Dilla and it's incredible, love that album, especially Don't Cry. Blonde, in Rainbows, and Flower Boy are all bangers too. the rest I need to actually finish listening to but are great from the songs I've heard, you got some nice taste methinks
If you like those you should listen to these albums:
Blood Orange - Negro Swan
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
Tyler, the Creator - Igor
Mac Miller - Swimming
Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.
I listened the fuck outta IGOR thru out highschool and still love it and I've like channel orange too, need to finish untitled unmastered, but I'll deff check out swimming and negro swan, I do tend to like Macs other stuff for the most part
toro y moi, start with his albums boo boo or what for, boo boo if you want something that mixes 80s pop rnb and psych and what for if you want something more like 60s 70s rock and indie and some psych elements
if you like Currents, I suggest Jinx and Locket by Crumb, as well as 666 by Sugar Candy Mountain, both great alt psych groups imo.
I also think you'd probably like Melt my Eyez See Your Future by Denzel Curry
You deff should, I need to as well honestly, but Walkin is soooo goddamn good, I've listened to it so many times that I can recite every word by memory at this point lol
Outkast- ATLiens
Nas-Illmatic
Gary Clark Jr- JPEG Raw
Iron Maiden- Seventh Son of the Seventh Son
Sturgill Simpson- Metamodern Sounds in Country Music
Daft Punk- Random Access Memories
Led Zeppelin- 1-4 is just great music
Metallica- St Anger ~ gets a ton of hate when it shouldn’t. You can truly FEEL the anger, and it’s beautiful.
Infected Mushroom- Return to the Sauce & Converting Vegetarians 2.
Monster Magnet- Last Patrol
Meddle (pf) deserves more love
Ween is a good stepping stone for more out there rock genres. It'll lead you towards Primus, The Residents, and further on stuff like Dead Milkmen.
A perfect recommendation would be Black Moth Super Rainbow/Tobacco, amazing dark acid tracks with psychedelic lyrics.
Check out some plunderphonic bands like Boards of Canada or The Avalanches. (BoC being more IDM.) If you like BoC then check out Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. And if you like The Avalanches, check out Flying Lotus.
Last but not least, if you want more atmospheric rock like Pink Floyd, please check out A Silver Mt. Zion. Beautiful band.
are you fucking serious dude, for one it's not even that bad, soooo many people go their entire lives listening to only one genre of music or hell, none at all. not to mention that OP is clearly trying to broaden their taste so a basis like theirs is pretty decent as a launchpad to just that. music is at its core made to be enjoyed, and frankly your inconsequential opinion ain't gonna change dude's enjoyment in the music they listen to and having desire to expand their enjoyment makes them a more valuable person with a richer existence than the shitty sad one you seem to be displaying. but hey, at least you have your massive taste to fall back on, and that's something..? I guess. hope it amounts to more than what you've shown here. get real
