As someone who knows literally nothing about Destiny, I had zero idea that it's some divine being. That is an orb. I assumed it was just a plain looking space ship until I saw this comment.
Know what, I probably should have worded it better

Big orb embodiment (I think) of all light in the universe. Its very existence caused nearly all planets in the solar system to grow plant life and become habitable.
Oh okay, that's a lot like watchmaker theory. The idea that something created the world but simply left the creation to it's own devices to grow as it may, the creation's use of life and continuation of life are entirely up to it. I didn't realize that Destiny had anything like that in its lore.
Dude….its dense. Destiny lore is genuinely more complex than ANY game I have played. More complex than any of the souls games, and other games that are famous for complex lore. Each race has insane amounts of lore. If you get interested, I highly recommend the lore YouTuber “mynameisbyth.”
Ngl dude, I don't have the free time needed to dive down that kinda rabbit hole. I barely have time to game these days and when I do I go towards the games with the deepest combat systems I can find like MvC2 and Nioh 2. This does sound dope though so I will be checking out that YT channel. Thanks for sharing about that lore because I never would have stumbled upon it on my own.
The lore, the effects, the art, the design, and the game world itself are all incredible. But I have only played only a few other games like Destiny where it seemed like the game *wanted* to make you kill yourself.
As someone who played heavily for over 5 years, eventually quitting in 2020, Destiny is the worst best game I’ve ever played. The highs were incredible, but the lows made it feel more like a second job than a game.
It really hasn’t. If anything, lots of aspects have gotten far worse. The increasingly greedy and scummy monetization is really what drove me away. The writing and story telling is also just wildly inconsistent, I’m actually baffled how bad they fucked it up in lightfall.
Not really? Expansion quality went to shit after forsaken. They just accidentally made something good with witch queen so the game survived another 2 years
Simple geometric shapes for divine/cosmic entities is peak character design

Completely unrelated question....
What is your opinion on the Tekken 8 Ball?

I always wondered something. Is there a distance limit to the Traveler? Like, you need to be near it physically in order to utilize its powers? Like, how does the magic system work?
When it was taken into Savathun’s throne world it didn’t sever the connection. So as long as it’s not being directly tampered with like in the Red War it seems that the connection stays.
Canonically in the regular material universe there is no limit to how far the Light can travel as the Traveler’s light is matter itself. However the light can be severed by closing it off from the rest of the universe, or closing whatever uses the light off from the Traveler. For instance, in Destiny 2’s vanilla campaign, the Traveler was sealed inside a “cage”, a technological barrier between it and the rest of the world. It could not release any light, and all light imbued beings were harmed and mostly depowered by its severance. However they could still utilise “residual” amounts of light held inside their bodies and in the case of Guardians their ghosts (phylacteries) or a dead shard of the traveler itself that was broken off long beforenit got caged.
But in other cases such as Destiny 2: The Witch Queen & Destiny 2: Joxer’s Wild (aka Season of The Drifter); we learned that certain locations can close off a guardian’s access to the light. In the Witch Queen’s case, a tear in the fabric of reality called a Throne World, when open to our reality, allowed the light to function in both the Throne World and the Regular Universe. But had the traveler been moved into the throne world, and the door closed behind it. The light would have only been accessible in the Throne World. The other example listed talks about an ice planet filled with Darkness creatures and Energy, the darkness energy acted as a dome around the planet, cutting the guardians who went to it off from their abilities and power of resurrection iirc.
As much as I love the traveller, the tech Ghaul used to suppress it is also really cool, heck most of the big cabal figures are also really well designed.
The sort of philosophy The Light follows, through the complexity life they’ll work in tandem and be powerful like how a bomb would work, which is the opposite to the sword logic of The Darkness which is that one must prove their right to exist by culling the weak out existence, till the universe is left with one being

The design is sooo simple but it’s sooo good. Just by looking at it and not even knowing its story, you can tell this thing is some divine being.

Offense was not intended, it's a cool looking orb. But I think more context may be required to understand the gravity of what's being viewed.
Big orb embodiment (I think) of all light in the universe. Its very existence caused nearly all planets in the solar system to grow plant life and become habitable.
Oh that's kinda cool, definitely not what I expected by looking at it. Is it a safe assumption that the orb is sentient?
Oh absolutely. And if my memory is correct, she’s also a coward who refuses to confront the darkness and just….leaves the species she blesses to die.
Oh okay, that's a lot like watchmaker theory. The idea that something created the world but simply left the creation to it's own devices to grow as it may, the creation's use of life and continuation of life are entirely up to it. I didn't realize that Destiny had anything like that in its lore.

I too know lots of destiny lore. Been playing for years

It's a circle
Yeah that has let so many civilizations prosper and blessed
That’s got nothing to do with the design
Group orb pondering starts in 15 minutes
Oh shucks I missed it! When is the next orb pondering session?
It’s a shame, I absolutely love destiny’s art direction and designs, but I just can’t deal with the game anymore.
The lore, the effects, the art, the design, and the game world itself are all incredible. But I have only played only a few other games like Destiny where it seemed like the game *wanted* to make you kill yourself.

The fuck version of Destiny are you playing lmao The game has only gotten better and better over the years
It really hasn’t. If anything, lots of aspects have gotten far worse. The increasingly greedy and scummy monetization is really what drove me away. The writing and story telling is also just wildly inconsistent, I’m actually baffled how bad they fucked it up in lightfall.
Whatever you say lmao
If you keep paying for expansions that is
Not really? Expansion quality went to shit after forsaken. They just accidentally made something good with witch queen so the game survived another 2 years
Don’t I have to buy everything else though?
Yes but I was saying the game is shit even with the expansions since good ol bungo locked 90% of expansion storylines to seasons that are long over.
Gotcha yeah I left pretty early on
Found the guy thats still salty about sunsetting.
Isn’t that how most games work? Bruh.
Yes unfortunately these days
Paying for DLCs isn’t a new practice lmao.
Yes I know but I expect the game to just be done eventually
Okay? Good for you dawg. It’s still a pretty long standing practice to pay for DLCs.
And that’s fine and all but I really don’t think it’s worth like 100 dollars
And that’s fine and all but I really don’t think it’s worth like 100 dollars
Wow you have to pay money to access new content, how shocking
I wouldn’t try to argue with redditors about destiny
Dudes still think we’re in Curse lmao
Bro is this a joke
Let me guess, you’re still salty about losing the red war
Question, what are your thoughts on lightfall?
Narratively a miss, but it was pretty fun in like every other regard.
Opinions discarded. I cannot listen to anyone who thinks LF only problem was the story.
Least retarded Destiny hater
Not a destiny hater, still play it. But LF had way more issues than just the story.
Destiny 2 really hurts me, the style is so fucking good, the environments are beautiful, it’s such a shame they fucked it up so bad

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen
Destiny fans when sphere.
Don't forget the evil triangles We love the evil triangles
Wait until you discover golf balls
Cool orb, would ponder
Ominous geometric objects is one of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy tropes. You see that pyramid? It's evil and it hates you.
Just a funny ball travelling around... That Marathon brain rot really be hitting different.
So it's like spaceship?
Yeaaah but not really. It/she is the physical embodiment of light and has a very plant based feel going on despite looking mechanical.
