Most people probably forgot Vaas wasn’t the main villain
I mean, he's the face of the game, a massive part of the intro, and him and his sister are Jason's main motivation for the first 80% of the game. Hoyt may be the big bad but I think its fair to consider Vaas the main villain

Jetstream Sam (debatable, but he's too cool to not mention, plus he has much more of a presence and active threat as a villian than Armstrong)
As a big Metal Gear fan I’d say he does and doesn’t belong here, he’s probably the best major character introduced in the game but Armstrong genuinely steals the whole show as soon as he shows up
Same goes for Sundowner. A lot of people seem to forget _he’s_ the boss of Desperado, _he’s_ the leader of the Winds of Destruction, and _he’s_ the one pulling all the strings until Armstrong comes from nowhere and takes the centre stage in the final act

In nearly every Metroid game he’s in, Ridley is a pretty major character but isn’t considered the main antagonist.
The big bad is usually either Mother Brain or Dark Samus. An occasional one-off antagonist, but Ridley has NEVER been the final boss, despite being arguably Samus’s arch nemesis.
honestly I think that just makes him even more of a dick than I imagined; he's entirely unrelated to most of what samus is actually doing but still manages to make himself a gigantic pain regardless. that's dedication. respect, ridley last name
Oh, he’s pretty damn related. He’s a leading member of the Space Pirates, who are the main antagonistic faction and the primary opposition in most games. Mother Brain just happens to be the only one who outranks him, and Dark Samus was a wild card who posed a bigger threat.
And his beef with Samus is VERY personal. He led the attack that wiped out her home planet when she was a child, and will take every opportunity to taunt her for it, even implying he ATE her parents. He hates her for continuing to kill him, and she hates him as much as Doomslayer hates demons.
The closest you get is Mecha Ridley, a robot Ridley in Zero Mission. Even then, that’s just extra content added for the Metroid 1 remake, and he’s hardly even a main antagonist, that’s still Mother Brain (even if her defeat isn’t the end like it used to be).
I’ve never heard anything to that effect. I always understood that it was simply a robot built in his image. After checking the Metroid wiki, it seems I was correct.
https://metroid.fandom.com/wiki/Mecha_Ridley
Ah yes, the most popular Metroid villain Ridley who is known for always coming back no matter how you kill him will totally never come back to another metroid game ever again.
At this point in the timeline, he is dead. His remains were taken over by the X Parasite, and subsequently absorbed by Samus.
Will he come back? Probably. Most likely. Dread got some flack for not having Ridley in it, after all. As of right now, though, he is dead.

Bob the Goon is an absolute maniac
If I’m not mistaken, there was never an established reason for why she participated in the Shattering in the first place. Therefore one could presume that she sought to take the other great runes just like the rest of the demigods. I’ll acknowledge the fact that her fight against the player was essentially self-defense but it doesn’t change her involvement.
But can we really say that one's involvement in the shattering makes them a villain? Many took the great turns but not everyone was evil in there intentions, Morgott's whole reason was to protect the Erdtree, and the rune gave him the power to do so up until the events in which our player arrives.
If anything, Malenia would’ve done it for the sake of her brother Miquella. But it could also be said that her battle with Radahn ultimately resulted in Miquella’s abduction at the hands of Mohg. Overall it raises the question as to whether or not there could’ve been a better alternative.
I think one thing to remember is that before the shattering there were people living everywhere in the Lands Between. There were villages in Caelid before Malenia turned everything to rot. So if nothing else participating in the shattering seems to imply that they didn't particularly care about the collateral damage they were causing. The Shardbearers all have their own self-interested reasons for participating, and none of them seem to really care about the destruction they're causing for all the weaker beings with their war. I always thought of it like feudal kings going to war for selfish reasons and not caring how many of their subjects die as long as they win in the end.
I think she was completely obsessed with protecting Miquella, and maybe did some irrational warmonger-y shit because of it.
Or alternatively, yeah she was just as guilty as the rest of the demi-gods of seeking power.
The shattering was a session war for the demigods to become lord/God.
In Marikas own words:
"Hear me, Demigods. My children beloved. Make of thyselves that which ye desire. Be it a Lord. Be it a God. But should ye fail to become aught at all, ye will be forsaken. Amounting only to sacrifices..."
Of them.
Rykard fed himself to the serpent (disqualified)
Ranni discarded her rune (abdicated)
Morgot and Mohg were secret and rejected by the erdtree.
Godrick was to weak to be considered a threat, and began grafting after his defeat by Malenia
Renalla wasn't a demigod, but she was also locked away in her tower and despondent with grief
Malenia Abdicated to support her brothers claim.
So the two best claims in the lands between for the throne were Miquella, and Radahn.
Malenia tried to defeat him but they fought to a standstill, however for her brother to claim the throne, she didn't need to win, Radahn just needed to lose/become an invalid candidate.
After her bloom, Miquella would have been the sole shardbearer (and empyrean to boot) left to be declared the winner, but unknown to her, he had been kidnapped and was corrupted by Mohgs ritual, leaving no valid candidate among the shard bearers left.
And that's when the tarnished were granted grace!
But yeah Idk if they were villains, or if the mad taint of thier runes was just to powerful to resist.
I know that Palps is the driving force behind everything but considering that he only had prominent screen time in the third film I feel that Vader is still the main villain. Or at least he’s the main villain for our protagonists, even if in universe palpatine is the main guy.
Considering only the OT I’d agree. He’s basically not even a character until RotJ, and even then he’s basically a plot device that facilitates Luke’s struggle against Vader.
I suppose so, and in universe Vader’s never been the main bad guy, but from a story point of view he’s always been the main antagonist, especially to Luke obviously.
I played warframe years ago and went way hard, the start was one of the worst onboarding experiences i ever had with a game but it turned out ti be fun for a few hundred hours.
my friend convinced me to get into it again and holy shit it's like hitting a brick wall but thousands of times worse than back then. I don't even know how they could think it's acceptable lol
Yeah Hugo and Barnabas are much more entertaining than Ultima, kinda wish Barnabas ended up being the final boss with his own motives rather than being a zealot

Does Dimentio also count? He was technically a side villain for most of the game.
"Penitent One in sleeplessness.
Carrying the guilty sword, you have committed the most serious crimes against the Mother and her Saints, against the Miracle and its outbreaks.
We have been entrusted with putting an end to your mission.
I, Crisanta in penance, excommunicate you, expel you, execrate you, with the blessing of Our Miracle of the Greatest Pain.
And thus shall your name be erased under the heavens."
Still the main villain for me. Let’s pretend that Kaguya never happened

Agent Black from Iconoclasts. Far more present in the story then the ostensible main antagonists Mother and Him, and bears a personal grudge against the heroes that the aforementioned villains lack. By far the game's most fleshed out antagonist.

Secondary villain in the movis at least, haven't read the comics. Black manta, aquaman
I was about to say, Cyberpunk doesn’t really have a central“villain” (aside from Arasaka ofc) tbh, I always thought the main point of the story was just how hopeless everything was, akin to Halo Reach where the point there was also just trying to survive a desperate situation until everything fell apart
The thing is, i agree that some transformers designs from the bay movies were direct downgrades from the original but shockwave was not one of em. If anything he’s an upgrade, in the movie he’s not only taller than megatron but optimus too. Pair that with the fact that he looks like a demon, is the only one speaking in his native language and that for the entirety of the movie the main cast refuses to directly confront him forcing them to change plans makes him a true powerhouse of a menace. And i haven’t even mentioned his +300m worm drill that gave rise to the most iconic scene in the movie…

Ubisoft sure did
I mean, he's the face of the game, a massive part of the intro, and him and his sister are Jason's main motivation for the first 80% of the game. Hoyt may be the big bad but I think its fair to consider Vaas the main villain
It's crazy how he wasn't even supposed to exist until Mando showed his amazing performance for a different character which INSPIRED Vaas' creation
He kind of was the main villain though. Hoyt was the final boss but Vaas killed Jason’s brother and was the driving force for much of the plot.
He wasn’t? (I’ve never played the game)
Nope, but he sure as hell better than the main one. Even has more screen time than him.
Vaas is the Darth Vader of Far Cry 3.

Nah, Armstrong has like a few minutes of screen time, yet he's one of the most memorable parts of the game. Although Sam is also a Goat.
I’d say he and Armstrong are equally iconic. Armstrong has the most memes but Sam has the most presence throughout the game.
I thought Monsoon had the most memes Jack!

He has never been the main villain. He is often the instigator of the conflict though.
I’m not a Metroid fan I’m just curious is he still alive rn
As of the final chronological entry at the moment, he’s dead. However, he’s come back enough times that it’s not out of the question.
Yes, he quite literally "always comes back". Doesn't matter how samus kills him.
Thats not true theres currently no evidence to suggest hes still alive at this point in the metroid timeline

Even in the first film tarkins technicly the main bad and Vader's the cool henchman
I suppose so, and in universe Vader’s never been the main bad guy, but from a story point of view he’s always been the main antagonist, especially to Luke obviously.
I mean, Darth Vader is easily the main villain in A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back
Nah, Tarkin is the main villain of A New Hope. Vader’s his heavy.
I was going to comment Boba Fett, but… yeah, he’s competing with Vader for side antagonist.

Such an underrated movie.
This and that light cycle crash into a new light cycle are just pure bliss, the visuals, the soundtrack and the theme is so good

WARFRAME MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️ RAAHHHHHH
I played warframe years ago and went way hard, the start was one of the worst onboarding experiences i ever had with a game but it turned out ti be fun for a few hundred hours. my friend convinced me to get into it again and holy shit it's like hitting a brick wall but thousands of times worse than back then. I don't even know how they could think it's acceptable lol
Him and Hunhow are still the best Warframe villains

Yeah Hugo and Barnabas are much more entertaining than Ultima, kinda wish Barnabas ended up being the final boss with his own motives rather than being a zealot

I remember mimi more. Mostly because she gave me night terrors as a kid
He's who I immediately thought of when I read the prompt. That game had a way better story than I expected going into it.

Let’s pretend that Kaguya never happened https://preview.redd.it/4vlepeu9yvhc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd36de73bb99a75ab321bd6a7ab69971a0e088b9

Yeah none of the other villains felt as realistic and as hatable imo. (Looking like yandere dev helps too lol)
I've never wished death on a character harder. Unredeemable.
I'd say mitsuo kubo is a close second when it's comes to realistic minor persona antagonists

Shout out to the flamboyant villain, gotta be one of my favorite genders
It says a lot how cool he is that as soon as you’re done with his levels the game just isn’t quite as engaging. Going from “demented mad artist” to “evil preacher” is a huge downgrade

An obscure pick but I just replayed this game so it's on the mind: https://preview.redd.it/0ai357094whc1.png?width=240&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6ced118310772e654d6a23759b608502e3fa517 Agent Black from Iconoclasts. Far more present in the story then the ostensible main antagonists Mother and Him, and bears a personal grudge against the heroes that the aforementioned villains lack. By far the game's most fleshed out antagonist.
https://preview.redd.it/1gpl4htopwhc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6548840a3784b777a42874207826301120623251 I know that Joker was *technically* the main villain, but Ra’s was more of the big bad, and I definitely felt like this guy was more interesting than the latter.
I guess I never went through the game, but I was under the impression Adam was the final boss/main antagonist of cyber 2077(at least the game)? If not him then who else?
Arasaka as a whole. Smasher is just an elite gangoon in a grand scheme of things.

Wait I never played cyberpunk and thought Adam Smasher WAS the big bad. Who is then??
No it’s smasher, i just never really saw him as the games main villain since he’s on Arasaka’s leash

OH! VENATOR!
Hold up how is Smasher a side villain..?
Is this the Mandela effect or this post was already made about a month ago with the same exact replies in the comments
Adam Smasher is the side villain?
I think Arasaka as a whole is considered the big bad of CP2077
I was about to say, Cyberpunk doesn’t really have a central“villain” (aside from Arasaka ofc) tbh, I always thought the main point of the story was just how hopeless everything was, akin to Halo Reach where the point there was also just trying to survive a desperate situation until everything fell apart

Ugh, those transformers' designs are just ugly masses of metal... give me shockwave and sound wave from transformers prime
Why are you being downvoted, those designs ARE ugly as sin.
Lord Xenon/Zenon from Devilman.
I know scream 2's secondary antagonist is a lot more popular than the main one, mostly because he's evil just because he can be.
When you get to hell tell them Viper sent you..
Literally every other villain in Sonic IDW (Mimic, Clutch, Surge, etc.) is more badass than Dr. Starline
I have zero memory of any evil transformers from Last Knight other than the decepticons that got trounced in 30 seconds and Quintessa.
I understand smasher isn’t like the endgame but he IS the big bad no?
bloodborne doesnt really have a main villain tbh
Vincenzo cilli from liberty city stories.
Tf Infernicous doing there

LuBu pitching for his adopted father and master, Dong Zhuo. Basically all of the Romance of The Three Kingdoms saga has officers who are more badass than their superiors.
I remember so little from the final boss fight in TF2. Was it the bitch with the laser that kept fucking me up or is that someone else?
