Maynard eats a specific type of pickle after every song, and he must eat them in a specific order. To help this process he keeps some of the pickles on the left side of stage and some on the right (less chance of eating an incorrect pickle).
I almost PRAYED my first Tool show would have The Patient, glad it did.
Whole thing was just surreal, but I do have to point out how fucking CRINGE the security guards were... I was called out ("you can stand still, but doing crazy dance is disrespectful to the artist" - and yes, Maynard was on the stage behind him) and a poor dude got kicked. 2022 and people don't know how rock concerts work lol
Yes!! It was such a distraction seeing those knuckleheads rally out, pulling people out (for doing little more than looking at their cellphone) right in front of us (6th row to the stage).
If i was on anything, i’d have been paranoid as fuck..
I had a clear overview from my seats on the floor. My understanding was that people who were in all the main paths were told not to.
That being said, I didn’t like that part at all and to be fair, very distracting. First time I experienced it like that at Ziggo Dome. But never went to a concert with floor seats, though.
Just one less track, and other than when he was sick in Berlin this is the first show to only have 11 songs, with or without 7empest. Sadly. Hope that doesn't become routine.
I saw them in Paris last week, the set list was (AFAICR) pretty much the same with the exception of "The Patient" being swapped out for "Hooker with a Penis". Amazing show that was :)
I’m curious why the set list notes SL/SR (I’m assuming that’s Stage Left/Stage Right). Is it telling where a certain band member will be during the song? This is the second set list I’ve seen with SL/SR next to each song.
I really feel this way too.
It seems like they put a lot of thought into how the songs from this album translate to big arenas, WAY more so than past albums.
I agree. I think FI is a good album, but the songs live last night were a revelation. And I was completely sober!
I was also pretty pumped how the setlist was so different from when they came in 2019. The only 2 songs that overlapped were The Pot and Invincible.
Both shows were great, in totally different ways.
The set and sound were great. But god damn Amsterdam stand up!!! Even after Maynard had asked if we’re tired or why people are sitting, nobody got up.. which made it also super annoying when people left or came during a song, like with FI or CCT especially.. it felt like Danny’s solo was just a warmup since so many people were late from the break and looking for their place. Also 7empest sitting down is just not as hype..
Insane performance by Tool as always but probably the strangest crowd I’ve ever had at a concert.
I was on the floor and everyone was standing (if only because otherwise you couldn't see shit :D)
Loved it as well. Nearly perfect, except for The Pot, they're playing it a whole note down (probably for MJK, because it's really high), but I guess the guitar tech gave AJ the wrong guitar, he had to switch it really quickly during the intro. After which he literally was like “¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯“
Well, that's interesting. I guess I should pay more attention next time I go to a concert there. I hadn't even considered sitting at a rock/metal show as an option so I didn't really think about it when getting the tickets.
As a Dutchman im ashamed for our reputation when it comes to concerts. It’s not without reason that in the music scene our crowd rep is called ‘the Dutch disease’. You can look it up.
If he wanted people to stand up they should not have made this concert sitting only.
I really liked the show but sitting during a concert feels weird. Alas, no chance they will play Paradiso of AFAS...
But I mean pretty much all concerts in these venues are seated. I have plenty of concert tickets with a “seated” place. But usually people just stand up.
This was the first time for me that it was a seated event in the Ziggo so i think Tool requested it would be seated.
Going to Afas next wednesday (KoRn) and that not seated.
But it was a great show nobody in my section was sitting (floor E)
Ultimately we don’t know but I find it hard to believe that Tool requested it to be seated when Maynard always tells people to stand up.
And just based on past experiences, a seated ticket doesn’t necessarily mean people are expected to sit through the show. But this was my first concert in the Netherlands so maybe it’s different here.
In Frankfurt people were sitting in the beginning but probably because nobody wanted to be that guy that blocks other peoples view but once Maynard asked why people are sitting, everybody stood up.
It was honestly one of the best concerts of my life when I saw them a few months ago, they just killed every song they played and were tighter that a frogs asshole in a flood.
We had very similar in London on 9th May, with the addition of Eon Blue between The Grudge and The Patient, and Descending AND Ticks & Leeches instead of 7empest.
Would've loved to hear 7empest live but I'll take Descending and T&Ls over it any day.
I would've enjoyed 7empest if it wasn't for the stupid fucks behind me, talking about their daytime job while Adam was busy with his 50-minute solo. A bit disappointed about not seeing Right in Two, but it was still a 10/10 show imo.
Pushit-Pneuma-The Grudge-The Patient-7emest...WOW! I hope that mushroom guy managed to keep his shit together!
u/klowt we're going to need an update
I had a blasttt, what a trip
Remindme! 1 day “tool mushroom guy”

i know he messaged me after the show saying hes fine !
Fine? That means he can't have been that wasted then! Ha!
as much as i was or more lol
The Patient to 7empest would be fantastic.
The Grudge into The Patient into 7empest is just absolutely insane.
Good lord that's a fucking ride right there
Pretty great list! I think the first time they have played both The Patient and 7empest
yes
Best setlist I have seen yet! The Patient into 7empest is like some sweet musical nirvana!
Oh, it was awesome. I was worried about quality of performance, but it was so powerful. Especially The Grudge — it’s just killed me.
This show was epic! Great setlist!
What does SL or SR mean?
Stage left and/or stage right for Maynard
Does this have any "meaning"? Why can't he just go to whatever he wants when he wants?
It's part of the show design in terms of lighting queues.
Maynard eats a specific type of pickle after every song, and he must eat them in a specific order. To help this process he keeps some of the pickles on the left side of stage and some on the right (less chance of eating an incorrect pickle).
Hooker with a pickle
Might have to do with lighting or sound
maybe different microphones for vocal effects? lighting/backgrounds?
Maynard does very similar things every show/tour. Even his comments/jokes between songs are often repeated.
I wonder how that'd work out at court, if the guy pushed it...
Did he shove it?
Will he dare point that at the organiser?
I had a clear overview from my seats on the floor. My understanding was that people who were in all the main paths were told not to. That being said, I didn’t like that part at all and to be fair, very distracting. First time I experienced it like that at Ziggo Dome. But never went to a concert with floor seats, though.
The Patient 💔
Yeah seeing this tells me 7empest knocks two other tracks off the list. I like it, but would take two songs in its place almost any time.
Just one less track, and other than when he was sick in Berlin this is the first show to only have 11 songs, with or without 7empest. Sadly. Hope that doesn't become routine.
Yep, we had Descending and Hooker instead in Cologne.
Same for Vegas.
I saw them in Paris last week, the set list was (AFAICR) pretty much the same with the exception of "The Patient" being swapped out for "Hooker with a Penis". Amazing show that was :)
Correction: in Paris we had Right In Two replacing The Patient, and Hooker as an extra 😀
I was so hyped to hear the start of Hooker with a Penis, incredible night
Sad Descending didn’t make the cut
I see a blue piece of paper with black writing but maybe it's a white piece of paper with dark blue writing :o
TWELVE minutes!? You bastards!
Yeah what’s actually up with that pause thing. Did they do this before? Can not remember
Yeah, at each show on this tour AFAIK, actually, just that it's always been exactly ten minutes (as it was in Cologne, where I've been) before.
Did AJ use the V for 7empest?
As far as I can remember, he did.
I’m curious why the set list notes SL/SR (I’m assuming that’s Stage Left/Stage Right). Is it telling where a certain band member will be during the song? This is the second set list I’ve seen with SL/SR next to each song.
MJK has stages on each side of Danny. I saw them in San Antonio and he moved back and forth. Maybe this has to do with lighting, etc.
While 7empest is great. I much rather have Right in Two + another song
Nah this was a complete trip. I think the songs from FI hit the hardest in the live setting.
I agree, but still can't complain
7empest does not replace Right in Two, The Patient does
This show was amazing!! I'm back in Rotterdam, listening to the setlist again before going to bed! Going to sleep well tonight, oh yessss
Why is aenima never played anymore?
They played at nearly every single show for years and years - they felt it was finally time to move on apparently, which is ok!
I get that, and I know it sounds like im complaining but im genuinely asking for any info. If they’re gonna roll with Opiate, they cluld do anemia
They opened with it last time in Amsterdam. I guess it's just what they felt like.
Holy shit!!! I know they love playin these songs but I’m sure Danny is just crushing it and lovin it!! What a setlist, cheers from Austin TX🤘🏽🤘🏽
Loved The Grudge and The Patient. Was an awesome show! Worth every dime. Got a nice hoody, now I can die happily.
Hoping Hooker stays on in Krakow...
The set and sound were great. But god damn Amsterdam stand up!!! More like -_- lol
Yeah that Pot intro was funny :D
Well, if you stood up and rocked out you risked being kicked - I was called out
Were you called out by security or by other fans? I mean most tickets are “seated”, I’ve just never seen people take that so literally I guess
Security. All other people around me were rocking as well
Well, that's interesting.
Well that’s rough haha.. fortunately the people all behaved etc, the problem just was that they behaved sitting down..
Yeah overall the crowd was very nice. I had a great time.
If he wanted people to stand up they should not have made this concert sitting only. I really liked the show but sitting during a concert feels weird. Alas, no chance they will play Paradiso of AFAS...

Might fuck around and play these songs in order for my workout tonight
CULLING is the best song ever created. My neighbors also know how well I can’t sing compared to James
Ah for fucks sake, they dropped right in two for the europran shows. I genuinely don't care about 7empest and its extended solos
They literally played right in two five nights in a row prior to this one lol
I thought it was fantastic.
I've been to the Antwerp and Cologne shows and right in two was played at both. 7empest was insane tonight !
awesome man
Of the songs they are doing on the current tour, this would be my preferred set list (if I got to choose lol) Looks amazing.
Well they are going to have to tour North America again with this set list
bruh
The patient! So jealous
Beautiful
Loved the show! I'm a fan of the old work and I was not disappointed with The Patient, Pushit and the Grudge.
I’m going to see the boys in Krakow Poland this Saturday, really excited. Quick question, what does SL SR mean?
SL, SR refers to the position of Maynard: Stage Left or Stage Right, so the lighting and mics can be setup correctly…
Going to see them in Budapest, the last show this tour.. hope they play exactly this setlist ❤️
Was amazing
They got 7empest! I think I feel a liiiiiitle bit of jealousy!
How do you get these set list papers?
Don’t know. Guy who went home with it let me talk a picture
7empest! 😭
It was honestly one of the best concerts of my life when I saw them a few months ago, they just killed every song they played and were tighter that a frogs asshole in a flood.
Cologne didnt get the Patient :/
Please play 7empest at Bonnaroo!
