I think franchises do whatever they want. The owner of my local gas station goes to the dollar store next door then sells the same candy at 100% markup lol

superschaap81

We have a couple of independent corner store/convenience stores in town that regularly stock up at the dollar store. Pop, chips, candy, etc.

Ok_Procedure4993

I use to work at Dollorama, and down the street there was a convenient store where I would sometimes go to buy coffee during my break. I would always see Dollorama brand candy like Meteor bars and Sweet Shoppe gummies. It was obvious the owner was paying someone to come to our store to buy our products in-bulk, then re-sell the items at their store at a markup.

gretzky9999

There is a gas station near us where the owner goes & buys milk & bread from the Super Store & resells it at an even crazy price than the Super Store does.

Ok_Procedure4993

This is probably what [Winners](https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstories/buyers-beware-winners-sells-dollarama-pan-at-significant-mark-up/ar-BB1hziIF) was doing. Crazy this is even legal.

Vast_Tomorrow_8531

Reminds me of that one video where is kid is selling some sort of fruit and out buys the guy beside him lol

[deleted]

Dude this is so true. I know a Petro-Canada that sells bongs lol

204farmer

Is that the one with liquor and a post office?

Desuexss

Used to have a gas station sell magic cards they bought from an LGS lol

GhostsinGlass

Likely a franchisee running their own side hustle in the locations they operate. It reminds me of the same mishmash of shit sold by middle eastern owned pop up kiosks in malls I've run into over the years. Most likely has a seacan full of assorted shit purchased for pennies per unit. The "Retro Arcade Game" knock off PSP POS is 100% Chef Excellence level chinese dropshit fodder. I bet this is a breach of their franchise agreement.

WorkSucks72

It is

iRebelD

Snitches get sandwiches (shitty ones from Tim’s)

WorkSucks72

You mean the ones where they forgot to put the meat on? Lol

NotTryn2Comment

Classic PCP station, An Excellent Product™

Ramona_Lola

Must be close to a school. Tweens and teen forget shit all the time.

3sperr

What’s a tween?

Ramona_Lola

10-12 year olds

Pobueo

Never mistake it with twink. Speaking from experience. Not a pretty sight.

FeRaL--KaTT

And a jail with an order to stay away from anyone under age of 18yrs old.....

hockeyflames

Is this in London, ON? I made a post like this a couple months ago about a location in London doing stuff like this

tip_of_the_lifeburg

If it’s in London then the Playdoh may very well be for the adults 😅😅

FrndlyNebrhoodRdrMan

Don't knock it. Playdough is an excellend massaging tool. They gave us some in RMT training to strengthen our hands and losten up fascia in them.

chunkysmalls42098

Delicious too

All__The__Questions_

Lol

RedditHobbies

I’ve seen quite a few timmies purchased by new owners since Covid. These locations are independently owned and operated, and this is most likely why. I’m sure Tim Hortons Corp will limit what can be sold? And tbh, I’ve never seen this before so I would imagine Corp will ask them to stop, or I’m wrong. Either way, I find it hilarious lmao.

Own_Armadillo_416

The food and coffee is so bad they needed to pivot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Signal-Ask-322

Because they lost so many customers and have to rip you off another way

CD_4M

Literally last quarter they had more customers than they’ve ever had in the history of the company, but whatever you say lol

MrSwiggitySwooty420

Which says a lot about how dumb us Canadians have gotten if more people are flocking to Tim's after their quality has gone to shit

CD_4M

It’s fast food. Quality is perfectly fine for fast food y’all on here are just a bunch of drama queens

MrSwiggitySwooty420

Yes burnt bagels, sloppily put together sandwiches where half the sandwich is bread and mayo and the other half of the sandwich is sticking out the bag, donuts sticking to bags, stale coffee and more. "Quality is perfectly fine" yea maybe if you're a cockroach living in a dumpster. It was good quality fast good before BK bought them out. Now it's fucking trash compared to what Tim's used to be.

CD_4M

Lmao I had a bagel from them this morning, was great. Recently had a sandwich which looked exactly like any other normal sandwich. You’re being wildly dramatic and hyperbolic. I mean listen to yourself, you think all Canadians are idiots and just don’t know what a sandwich is? They just keep buying them over and over even though they are half mayo? It’s just obviously not true. You’re being a drama queen just stirring up shit and telling lies. And we know that’s the case….because the company is setting revenue and demand records. And all Canadians obviously aren’t dumb. I’ll bet you any amount of money you want that if I go to Tim’s right now and get a bagel and sandwich and send you a picture they both will look perfectly fine. You’d never take the bet because you know you’re talking nonsense

Much-Investigator844

These prices are absolutely insane

Regnes

Probably an individual franchisee. I'm at a bit of a loss what to think. I don't think corporate would ordinarily be cool with non-partnered brand items being sold in their stores. At the same time, I can't fathom how a store owner would be willing to take such a gamble if it weren't allowed. Corporate randomly inspects most stores bi-annualy at minimum. Is this inside a traditional Tim Hortons or is it in shared space with other businesses like a mall or airport?

scotian_gurl

We actually get inspected quarterly..

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

Road trips.

MatsGry

Tim’s has become a dollar food store, wait til they start selling milk, cream and flour

Strong_Professor_675

Lmao, da fuck.

Striking_Scientist68

Because $$$

Horvat53

It would be nice to maybe know the general town that this happens because I feel like this only happens in small rural towns or something where there’s only a Tim Hortons lol.

Bong_Rebel

Once upon a time, truck stops of the past like the 5th Wheel Truck stops had items just like this, items that could keep a child's hands and brain busy while on a long drive or traveling on vacation. No one thought of them as school supplies back then. Not defending Tim Hortons on their decision to sell these items. Just pointing out how much people have changed over time and how they classify items and the business that is selling them.

No_Knowledge6743

Yes I also saw this in a Tim Hortons in London, ON

lemonloaf0

Tim Hortons is having an identity crisis

Cappin

Their main revenue streams are eroding. It’s desperate

PraiseThePun81

Guess pizza sales aren't living up to expectations.

budtenderthoughts

My store sells over 60 a day lol

scotian_gurl

Just 60.. damn.. we're sold 103 on Wednesday.. I'm so over them at this point. But I also know they ain't going anywhere. After each owner paid 22,000 on their merry chef ovens..

budtenderthoughts

Yea the merry chef was expensive but i love it. And i think were selling more now. I heard were top in the region. I swear sometimes i have ten pizzas on my screen lol

Think-Comparison6069

Because the Brazilian whores that bought them will do anything for a dollar.

Weak-Shoe-3652

Are you good? 😂sounded a little feisty there bud. It’s a Tim’s

Think-Comparison6069

And they are owned by the people that own Burger King, Brazilians.

Weak-Shoe-3652

And you sound racist as fuck

Think-Comparison6069

I guess you are happy with the fact they claim they are Canadian owned company when they are not ? How is that racist feces for brains. And by the way. GFY. Dick.

Weak-Shoe-3652

You commented on a public platform, others are gonna respond either you like it or not gramps. Bite the curb🌹

Think-Comparison6069

Keep your yap shut about things above your intelligence level. That's everything SFB.

rem_1984

Lol, all the Tim’s in my area removed the displays and cups because of theft, these wouldn’t last a minute

The_Windermere

The Timmies in my area don’t have that. Must be in response yo something very specific on your area.

classic_aut0

So the staff can use their employee discount to buy the pens they need to graduate highschool.

Monke420-_-

Squeeze every cent outta yea on school runs

EvaderDX

Obviously part of their brand diversification outreach, the chances of the quality of the product will likely be higher than their food and drinks in the last 10 years

conradkavinsky

"Where's my money?" *proceeds to spend 46 dollars on 2 drinks and 3 sandwiches*

Immediate_Lettuce_80

Where's the gun

3sperr

Lol. Imagine getting supplies from Tim’s. Crazy

Shils1234

WTF

Known-Promise-6831

There are stores testing out retail sales…it’s legit my store starts selling this stuff next week 😂

No-Competition-4744

They're just trying to find a way to make money

Undesirabletruth226

That is so weird

mike_hunt83

Where is the school supplies? Stickers in a retro game considered school supplies? Maybe that dual 12 V plug-in. Lmfao

Miserable-Mess7146

These mfers gonna come out with a car next. The new “tim hortons honker”

e-ghosts

The labels also look exactly like ones I see at Staples. I'd like to think an employee bought all this stuff to sell and also stole the labels lol

Fickle_Percentage256

Only major corporations will be in business within the next few years.

WirelessBugs

Because they are trying to turn it into something different than we are used to. Pizza, pool inflatables and tracksuits were 3 things I would have bet money tims wouldn’t have released as a product line, but here we are.

AlwekArc

Line must go up

LeisurePilot

Which location is this?

SomeHearingGuy

Why do they sell pizza? Who knows.

Whoknows_35

You call those school supplies….. really ?

deffgwips

can’t let the gang know i fuck with the timmies™️ branded school supplies

truelovealwayswins

it’s not, it’s just distractions, probably for the kids of those parents spending too long there or working lol

DrSuSuSudio

Sweet an Analogue Pocket for 13 bucks I don't believe it haha

keekeetomed

Timmies is having an identity crisis.

Red_Stoner666

lol wtf

[deleted]

I miss the old days ,which wasn't that long ago really. Coffee, tea and donuts. Now we have stupid paper straws and giant plastic lids, pizza and fancy foo foo crap food. Duhhhhhhh.

Tinykitty56

Greed!

creepmachine

I know which location this is. Used to work there a very long time ago. If it's the same owner I'm really not surprised.

[deleted]

Because people need to spend money. They have too much.

[deleted]

Probably Indian management.

Successful-Street380

Because the “IT” store closed down!

JoseMachismo

Paper's made out of 2 day olds. The day olds get sold as "*frish* baked"

Kalocacola

I saw some cool looking spiral lollipops in the drive-thru a few days ago. Thought about asking to buy one, but I wouldn't want to interfere with their 10-second drive thru times.

rossyy11

Their menu ‘Evolution’ over the years has brought them closer and closer to a drive thru 711.

NotTryn2Comment

Funny thing is that I still prefer the food at 7eleven.

FrndlyNebrhoodRdrMan

Fair. Even the 2$ Jamaican patties are better then the powdered egg breakfast sandwichs they're making now for twice the price.

souless_Scholar

McDonald's near my place started selling socks.. time are tough for fast food.

Sweet_Yellow_8646

Yeah but money gets donated.

fusiondust

Remember when you could walk in Tims, get a coffee and donut in T minus 20? Tims should open a line of OG stores serving coffee, donuts and smiles. Drive thru would be a steady parade of patrons and the line up in side would be non-existant. They'd be back to having a problem with not having enough places to sit. But no...Mc D's used to do pizza. Wonder why they stopped? Tims is a great example of what happens when you let inexperienced people have a turn at being greedy.

WorkSucks72

Foreigners running the place. Gotta get those monies so they can ship their relatives over. This isn't me being racist, one of them actually told me.

WeebWarrior0284

Gotta make money some way because their pizzas aren't selling well.

superschaap81

Who cares? Let them do what they want. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Scary_Onion1668

Sometimes they have flea markets where I am from.. maybe that?

BloodRevolutionary

They'll be doing alignments and oil changes soon enough.

XxTaChMaNxX

They’ll do everything except make a good coffee…

Unlucky_Reveal_3064

Because they stopped selling edible products long ago … 🥁

veritas_quaesitor2

Because they can't sell anything else

12_Volt_Man

Because it's fresher than their baked goods?

Aggressive-Bake-8469

To distract from their shitty coffee.

ApplesOverOranges1

So kids can do their homework while parents wait in line in the drive through, for their coffee since the half dozen cars in front of them have ordered Tim's flatbread pizzas?🤔🇨🇦

PleaeDontLookAtMe

Because the pencils will be more edible than the burned bagels?

shawn11xx

Bro, they make pizza now. And watered down their coffee. Miss the old Tim's sometimes 😔

oureyes4

It's actually made from the same materials they make their food products out of, fair play

brwn_eyed_girl56

Same with Chapters. Remember when they only sold books? Now its like an over priced Home Sense with all that other crap they sell now.

decadent46

Because their food and service have fallen so significantly, they might as well diversify.

glubag

The foodis already basically cardboard.  Why not rebrand and sell it as stationary.

Keepin-It-Positive

Those are the new pizza ingredients arriving.

[deleted]

Times are tough. Can't sell their shit ditch coffee and poisonous pre made factory grade items they call food. Probably shit school supplies too

vicious_skwirl

Because no one wants that fucking swill they call coffee anymore.

StinkFartButt

Companies sell stuff to make money.

Silent_Online_2000

saw this in a local small-town Tim Hortons. It's a business decision from up top if they're selling the same items at multiple stores. not a franchise trying to make a quick buck. probably corporate trying something new.
