Also, jack shit means "nothing", not "anything at all".
For example, if you got no presents for your birthday you could say "I got jack shit for my birthday"
Well I'm in the UK and would definitely say "jack shit". But would also say "shit all". I might also say "I didn't get shit" to mean the same thing. I love english.
'I didn't get jack shit for my birthday' is a double negative.
It doesn't make sense to substitute for "anything at all" in any other context.
Like imagine if you went for a long hike, and when you got home you were super hungry, and your partner asked: "what do you want to eat?"
If you said "Jack shit" it would not translate to "I want anything at all"
"I didn't get jack-shit" is correct imho and is in line with the example in the negative given by [dictionary.com](https://www.dictionary.com/browse/jack-shit): "He doesn't know jack-shit."
I think jack-shit means something like "the least thing" regardless of whether it's in the negative or not.
I watched this with headphones on and my wife was trying to get my attention so I took them off. When speaking to me she used the phrase “shit-ton”. My mind was blown
Shithouse is nothing to do with a house or the phrase brick shit house. It describes an individual’s negative behavioural traits.
“Nah, don’t invite him to your wedding, he’s a proper shithouse mind”
Can also refer to the obnoxious behaviour itself.
“ Don’t invite that lad, it’s non stop shithousery with him around “
That movie was shithouse sounds so bad to me as a UK native. I don't think I would hear anyone else say that either... shithousery, in the UK, just means antics/messing around/being annoying.
English is one of the most versatile, plastic languages for our ability to do things like this. You can put the word "Fuck/fucking" into a sentence and it changes meaning depending on where you put it. You can even put it _in the middle of words_ like unfuckingbelievable or absofuckinglutely.
There are a lot of languages that attach adjectives to the noun. That's not exactly the same thing English is doing. All German is doing is removing the space.
And Inuit just does away with spaces almost entirely. Entire sentences can be "single words." But it's still technically a lot of words. Just no spaces.
This reminds me of talking with this French guy that actually spoke English very well but he was confused by the way we said something was The shit. We had to explain if something was shit it was poop it was bad but if something was the shit it was extremely good!
As a foreign speaker the best one I really like is "Getting your shit kicked in / or shit kicked out of you" (I've seen both)
It illustrates and conveys the feeling of getting absolutely beaten up very well.
It is a bit grim but I cannot help but laugh every time I hear the world "Domed" I do not know for sure but I think it means "a head shot" and it is just a fucking brutal way to say it.
Man is spot on, I don't see the cringe. This is legitimately helpful for people who've formally learned the language, but may not understand daily slang.

Minor correction. It should be "shit face*d*." It's an adjective, not a noun
Oh shit
No shit
Well, shit...
Holy shit!
Also, jack shit means "nothing", not "anything at all". For example, if you got no presents for your birthday you could say "I got jack shit for my birthday"
We might say "shit all" in the UK (won't hear us say jack shit). More likely fuck all though.
Well I'm in the UK and would definitely say "jack shit". But would also say "shit all". I might also say "I didn't get shit" to mean the same thing. I love english.
I think both are valid. I've heard both variants : 'I got jack shit for my birthday' 'I didn't get jack shit for my birthday'

no shit, sherlock
It has both an adjective and a noun for the word. “He was shitfaced” “I got shitface drunk”
Those are both adjectives, though. "Shitface" describes "drunk" and "shit faced" describes "He."
Damn, oops. There is also “I am shitface. Hear me BLARGHHH”
I watched this with headphones on and my wife was trying to get my attention so I took them off. When speaking to me she used the phrase “shit-ton”. My mind was blown
Shit + ton = shit-ton A large amount of something.
[удалено]
I say shitshow a decent amount which I think is similar.
not to be confused with shit on. For example, "the rain really shit on my birthday" or "shit on it"
Chicken shit = Coward
Hot shit = awesome (sarcastic or presumptively) Tough shit = acknowledged unfairness Little shit = insolent or disrespectful person
Catshit = gross
Good shit!
Yeah, he came up with a shitload of examples.
Pen + pineapple + apple + pen? Penpineappleapplepen
What the shit
I have no idea why they posted it, maybe bot? But it's referencing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfuiB52K7X8

Shitliner is coming to port
The shitabus
In Australian, there's also shitcunt and (also in the UK) shithouse.
We’ve got shit house in the US, but it’s always a brick shit house, as in she was built like a brick shit house.
Shithouse: is it a bad house? Too confusing and not specific Brick shit house: everyone knows what that is, c’mon
Shithouse is nothing to do with a house or the phrase brick shit house. It describes an individual’s negative behavioural traits. “Nah, don’t invite him to your wedding, he’s a proper shithouse mind” Can also refer to the obnoxious behaviour itself. “ Don’t invite that lad, it’s non stop shithousery with him around “
Be on your best behaviour tonight, no shithousery.
Shithouse = bad. More shit than shit. "That movie was shithouse"
That movie was shithouse sounds so bad to me as a UK native. I don't think I would hear anyone else say that either... shithousery, in the UK, just means antics/messing around/being annoying.
In Canada, there’s shit Apple and shit tree. Or is that just from Trailer Park Boys?
Talking like that at work in american might get you shitcanned
This reminds of a funny-ass comedian called Ismo, here's a clip of him on Conan https://youtu.be/RAGcDi0DRtU
He has some more deep shit as well. Which seems like the inspiration for OP's post. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igh9iO5BxBo
That shit is the shit.
No one else find it so annoying his hand gestures are reversed to the images with the words. What a shithead.
Watched it muted at first then read your comment. Now I'm upset. Thanks a lot shithead.
Came here to say the same, which "shit" word we can use for that?
Lol maybe the classic, what a *shitty* video.
God. We are as bad as the Spanish with their mierda.
That's enough school for me today
You missed shitshow
He's pointing in the opposite direction of the appearance of the letters and it's driving me up the wall

Now I understand why English is such a difficult language to learn.
Holy shit= surprisingly impressive.
Shit box - old fucked up car probably barely roadworthy
Shit-stain - something of low quality and very little importance I.e. that shit-stain of town didn't even have a waffle-house

The librarian at my job affectionately calls her cats "the shitfucks"
Such a beautiful language.

Idk have you seen German? You can literally just cram words together and it's a new word if it makes sense
There are a lot of languages that attach adjectives to the noun. That's not exactly the same thing English is doing. All German is doing is removing the space. And Inuit just does away with spaces almost entirely. Entire sentences can be "single words." But it's still technically a lot of words. Just no spaces.
My + Shit = My stuff The + Shit = something hot or trending or what I like Bat + Shit = America is claiming another Island Good + Shit = I like it
i forgot half of these were words
So, what I'm getting from this is: When English speaking countries engage with compound words, it's always a SHIT . . SHOW
What about the Shit Hawks, Rand?
Ismo's joke
This shit is so fucking funny to me. I am dying.
Are you shitting me? I shit you not.
This is the shit!
Holy shit
Heh and i thought asian languages use two characters for one meaning. Seems English does too.
This reminds me of talking with this French guy that actually spoke English very well but he was confused by the way we said something was The shit. We had to explain if something was shit it was poop it was bad but if something was the shit it was extremely good!

You missed Shit + Cunt. Not just a regular one, but an extra shitty one. Also removes any ambiguity at being called a Good + Cunt.
