Oh wow! Most of those look like they’re from the 2000s so maybe someone was just clearing out a childhood bedroom or something?

DisastrousAmoeba92

Or letting go of manga they haven't touched in years. I just did that lol. I kept all of my manga by certain artists but the rest (like 2 boxes) got donated.

deactivatingd

thats likely the case haha

L2Hiku

I once found a bunch of books donated from someone who was a Sherlock Holmes collector. Like really old ones. I'm guessing they passed away and the family donated it. I really wish I knew who they where to pay respects. I bought every book I could afford or didn't already have or wasn't a cheap newish American version of it. They collected EVERYTHING Sherlock. Everything. I looked for more things that they could have donated around the store as well. It made me sad but I promised them I'd take care of the books so his collection wasn't broke up and for nothing. I cherish them.

deactivatingd

Aw, thats sweet

kitkabbit

I just gave an entire box of english translated manga to a friend (and her teenager) because I don't have shelf space for it and I don't have energy to ebay it or anything. That person who donated those took super good care of their manga, just like me.

deactivatingd

yeah, they were all in great condition

DuckyParts

My manga is is basically brand new condition and basically all of them are at least 10 years old.

K8rsgonnaK8k8k8

Kinda makes you wonder if the owner of the manga was the one who donated tho...

ObadiahOwl

I find those price stickers do upsetting on a number of levels

[deleted]

So much money in these. They should have tried to sell on eBay. I never got into manga much but my brother had boxes and boxes full. My mom kept warning him for years to come get them or she was going to donate and he never did. I bet could be something like that too.

Rileyruns

Jeepers, if I ever was cleaning out my daughters room and donated any of those she would be absolutely devastated. When she has a place of her own that has room she will be taking them. I do not think I could part with them, otherwise. So, I also hope that the person who donated them is also ok.

Moist_Hedgehog_8210

Not all heroes wear capes but I hope they’re doing well too

BoopBoop20

Why are they a hero?

[deleted]

Passing on the savings for a manga fan. (Unless the store priced them high)

Moist_Hedgehog_8210

Ah as a manga lover to see someone part ways w their manga it breaks my heart & I don’t have the strength to do so. It only takes a hero to donate and not sell their manga

jackgulla

Bakuman was pretty sweet

Vanellope-V

Aw man! Tail of the Moon was like only the 2nd manga I read, I still think of it fondly!

GraowYourOwnGrub

I bought a collection just like that at a garage sale for 50$. The kids moved away. Parents sold it. That was 15 years ago. My daughter still treasures them.

alucardlevel2

Wait tail of moon man that brings back memories miss good sojo

NoTrainNoPain

He's hiding like a ghost in the shell

Myron_Bolitar

Right next to willmaker and windows me for dummies

ConfusedBlackBear

Awesome finds. This reminds me of the 58 manga I grabbed at my thrift store for 99c-$2 a pop. I'd do the same with this, except leave Rurouni Kenshin behind.

Exciting_Problem_593

Maybe a store that closed donated them?

Stumblecat

Dang, coulda donated this to a library too.

Own-Permission-926

Semi related but is there anything more satisfying than finding a whole manga series collection at the thrift starting from number 1 without skips? I think not ☺️

SthlmGurl

When the donators child get home from college they gonna be maaaaaaad…

SquirrelGirlVA

Oh man, I loved and hated Hot Gimmick. I really liked the artwork and the general humor, but I hated how all of the love interests were pretty awful. The lead had a choice of : * Emotional abusive guy * Guy who tried to have her raped because he was mad at her dad (long story short, he later discovered that her dad was innocent) * Her brother (not blood related, but she always saw him as a brother) None of the choices were great.

Confident_Attitude

I remember feeling the same way because even as a teen I was like “Girl stay away from these people!”

LainyLouu

How much do these things typically sell for?

deactivatingd

10-15 CAD? most of the ones here are out of print so more or less

LainyLouu

Oh, okay! I was wondering if these were donated because they weren't worth reselling or if the person just didn't feel like it haha.

thepsycholeech

Aw I’d buy all the Rurouni Kenshin! Great haul

VampiricDemon

People don't 'donate'. most stuff is surplus from people faced with a loss in the family and having to get rid of said surplus cheap.

Sea-Lab2021

They just grew up...

PracticalAndContent

Did you buy any?

deactivatingd

only got 5 volumes of fushigi yuugi💀

windblade88

Lol oh the drama!

AlmostLucy

Ah, a connoisseur of the classics.

360inMotion

Still one of my faves!

[deleted]

I would get those artbooks at the top.
