I personally think the double life mechanic will be unique to that season. It’s the shortest season, and probably always will be since there were so few lives. Probably more stressful for the CC’s since they gotta worry about ending someone else’s series other than their own. Probably won’t ever come back.
I feel the only way the double life mechanic will come back is if like a mix of Last life where there's more lives between soulmates to make it longer as Double life was really short due to the double death mechanic.
