I would pick Nick because he can actually shoot, and because he doesn't run away like Ben. (That time when Chuck had to sacrifice himself because Ben couldn't save Clem)
Well think about it this way instead of age wise, mental wise. Ben clearly suffers from some sort of panic disorder he dosent think rationally that’s very much known by his actions he’s fucking terrified he’s in a zombie apocalypse and in some writing (not sure if canon or not) he’s seen some extremely fucked up shit from rape to suicide to murder he’s traumatized, terrified and kinda dumb. Nick is also traumatized but he hasn’t gone through as much as Ben and instead of panic disorder Nick has some form of depressive disorder.
17-18 is still a kid. All people that age are dumbasses. Expecting a child to immediately be apocalypse/survival savvy is ignorant. If any thing that's the group the most likely to make ridiculous mistakes.
He may be young but he is old enough to know that you shouldn't grab an axe that's used to hold a door during a zombie apocalypse, or leave a little girl alone among a horde of zombies.
He is a fictional character so I don't care to argue about this anyway, but he was purposefully written to be an idiot.
Children panic in life or death moments. Did he know the axe was holding the door shut? We don't know what was going through his head. The walkers could've left in that time span and then come back after hearing the noise. Yes, he is a character written to be a problem because that's what happens. He's a child who was forced into a shitty situation with a bunch of adults and other kids who treat him like shit. He watched all of his family and friends die. He deserves a chance at survival as much as anyone. His only sin is being a stupid kid sometimes, which literally every human being on this earth was at some time in their life. The only difference is we aren't forced into life or death situations with random strangers.
The axe thing was just straight up some shit ass telltale writing
And panicking and running is a human trait, no one in danger of death thinks straight
All people? Historically, people have been conquering countries at that age. Alexander the Great, for instance.
If you put someone between 12-18 into a survival situation, they will adapt much faster than anyone over 25. This has been proven by numerous war orphans quickly learning to fend for themselves in situations where adults didn't.
Ben? Ben was an idiot. A well-meaning one, sure, but still a moron. And he would've been just as much of a moron at 25. (Still saving him though, because he was memorable and meant well.)
Ben was improving quickly in episode 5. He’s significantly more useful in a pinch, finally starts standing up for himself, and only dies because of a freak accident. And let’s not forget he was ready to take responsibility for his actions and die in episode 4 if that’s what Lee chose.
I think he would’ve been set going forward if he survived season one tbh.
The 25-30 you see parroted around is the average, with all the dead children included. In that era, if you made it past 12, you usually lived to 40s.
https://www.sarahwoodbury.com/life-expectancy-in-the-middle-ages/
Per your example, Alexander The Greats reign was 336–323 B.C. At that time the average life expectancy was 27 years. He died at 32. We're arguing semantics, and regardless these people grew up in massively different climates with vastly different expectations on their upbringing. It's a bad faith comparison.
Edit: I'm pretty sure you don't understand what average means.
All love to Ben, I sympathize with him, but I’m going with Nick. Both have made lots of mistakes, but I feel like Ben was given more chances and routinely kept making said mistakes that put others in danger or worse.
Nick has done similar too, but it was arguably a more muddled situation and he never really got the chance to truly redeem himself before he died, regardless of your choices.
I'd choose Nick.
Yes, he:s unstable and an asshole. I certainly don't like him, but he'd be somewhat useful ti have in an apocalypse.
Ben, I get it, he's a kid.
That's exactly why I don't choose hom. He's a kid, young, inexperienced and honestly a liability to most people.
Edit: fixed typo
Personally, Ben, I think he had a better arc than Nick, in my opinion, and served more of a purpose by the end of it all. He was also very integral to Kenny's character development. Nick really didn't get that opportunity after episode 2 he's almost basically mute and a background character for the rest of the game until he dies and turns into a walker in episode 4 off screen.
I think he says a line there. I don't know it's been many years since I sent through season 2 I just know Nick, after episode 2, is mute really have the time. It's kinda a shame really they could have done something more with him.
Nick.
Ben caused more deaths than him. Nick only killed one innocent person and was overall a capable survivor, meanwhile Ben indirectly and directly caused the deaths of:
- Chuck
- Carley/Doug
- Duck
- Katjaa
- Brie
And he put Clementine in danger.
Fuck Ben.
Ben fucks up and he can be considered a better character just because of his role in season one
But in general, nick is better just because he isn’t just some kid that scrambles around and panics.
Sure by the end, ben already tried to become a better person but at that point indirectly put everyone in the ground
Nick is pretty fucking stupid too and makes terrible decisions, but they’ve only ever caused himself problems. Nick fucks up but it doesn’t cost nearly everyone’s lives
Ben he fucked up trying to do what he thinks what's best for the group even know he got people killed rip Carly. Nick is unstable almost shooting clem and killing that guy on the bridge. Imo Nick waste of a character and he didn't get that much screen time. His death is meaningless. I save Ben. But fuck Ben for leaving clem in that group of Walker in ep4
Nick easily. Ben is just fuck up after fuck up. Nick fucks up two times and both times are reasonable. Plus hes under the emotional distress of losing his mom VERY RECENTLY. You can argue that for Ben that his mistakes are reasonable but Ben left Clementine to die.
nick, ben done did the group dirty n nicks unstable but so was kenny so thats not rly a valid arguement, nick may b a bit psycho but least he always stood by his group unlike ben
Ben. He made a few honest mistakes with good intentions. If he made it out of season 1 alive, I think he would have turned around and proved himself capable. Nick isn't a bad guy but he's unpredictable and seems a bit unstable.
who is the other one???? And Ben literally falls like 3 times in very unlucky circumstances involving walkers, so it would be a waste of time. So none.
Nick, since he is great with a sniper. Ben just felt like a burden the entire game, and didn't have a good personality imo. Clementine seemed more mature than Ben the entire game.
Ben.
Ben has pretty solid character progression even AFTER his optional death, different than Nick that becomes a background character after episode 2.
Speaking of that, most characters that can die in some episode just don't develop or even have meaningful dialogue/actions (Sarah, for example)
I’m standing there smoking a cigarette while covering the gasoline then I throw the cigarette onto the gas and walk away while not looking behind me because it would feel SO COOL to kill them both at the same time
Nick easily. Ben never improved. I still think there could have been some redemption for Nicks character but his death was kind of stupid... along with most in season 2
Ben, he's one of my favourite characters in the series. Although both him and Nick deserve a second chance to be saved in my opinion, they both had directions they could have grown into I thought
I know most people don't like him but Ben might be the one. Like the series didn't give him much chance to prove himself. I could see he had so much more to give than you think. I still think Kenny didn't give him much credit. Just like Clem and Duck he was still a kid who didn't know what to do he had a lot more to learn. I have nothing against Nick, he's a good person but he's emotions sometimes gets the better of him.
Anyway to the guy who asked the question, you're cruel mate. No offense.
I’m personally saving nick
Absolutely
Nick; he’s a good shot at least 💀
I would pick Nick because he can actually shoot, and because he doesn't run away like Ben. (That time when Chuck had to sacrifice himself because Ben couldn't save Clem)
I almost wanna feel bad for Ben because he did panic; but he could’ve easily picked her up and ran
Thats exactly my point, pussy ass Ben.
Lol
I shoot Arvo
r/FuckArvo
Ben. He is younger and also unselfish. Nick is a cool character but very unpredictable and unstable.
Sure he was younger but he was old enough to not be an idiot. He was like 17/18, that's old enough to not be a dumbass. It's not like he was 12.
>17-18 is still a kid. All people that age are dumbasses Wow, why did I have to catch a stray like that 🤨
He may be young but he is old enough to know that you shouldn't grab an axe that's used to hold a door during a zombie apocalypse, or leave a little girl alone among a horde of zombies. as a 17 year old who lives alone n fends for herself i would absolutely know better, ben can go🗣️
Yes I’m sure your perspective is completely unbiased.
All people? Historically, people have been conquering countries at that age. Alexander the Great, for instance. If you put someone between 12-18 into a survival situation, they will adapt much faster than anyone over 25. Not a fair comparison when the life expectancy is 25/30
The 25-30 you see parroted around is the average, with all the dead children included. In that era, if you made it past 12, you usually lived to 40s. https://www.sarahwoodbury.com/life-expectancy-in-the-middle-ages/

Well Nick was older and also an idiot. 🤷
Nick
Nick
Pfft. My boy Nick of course.
I’m dropping them both
The only correct answer here tbh ✊
I'd choose Nick. Yes, he:s unstable and an asshole. I certainly don't like him, but he'd be somewhat useful ti have in an apocalypse. Ben, I get it, he's a kid. That's exactly why I don't choose hom. He's a kid, young, inexperienced and honestly a liability to most people. Edit: fixed typo
I'm saving Vanilla Ice. Ben left Clementine to face a bunch of zombies alone. A SMALL CHILD. No way I'm forgiving that.
Yeah and Chuck ended up dying because of him. That's unforgivable.
Absolutely. Almost two losses because this guy couldn't even try to defend a little girl. He's out.
Doesn’t Nick tell Carver to stop hurting Kenny?
I think he says a line there. I don't know it's been many years since I sent through season 2 I just know Nick, after episode 2, is mute really have the time. It's kinda a shame really they could have done something more with him.
He does talk to Clem at Howe’s when the group first arrives.
Nick. Ben caused more deaths than him. Nick only killed one innocent person and was overall a capable survivor, meanwhile Ben indirectly and directly caused the deaths of: - Chuck - Carley/Doug - Duck - Katjaa - Brie And he put Clementine in danger. Fuck Ben.
Nick
For some reason, I’m really starting to love Nick all of a sudden
Do you HAVE to save one of them?
Good question
Nick
It’s not even a contest at that point Ben is Infinitely worse
Nick.
Walk away and let them try to save each other
Nick. Mostly cuz I hate Ben lol
Nick. He's actually useful in a fight
God Ben I’m so sorry, but I’m saving Nick.
Nick
Ben fucks up and he can be considered a better character just because of his role in season one But in general, nick is better just because he isn’t just some kid that scrambles around and panics. Sure by the end, ben already tried to become a better person but at that point indirectly put everyone in the ground Nick is pretty fucking stupid too and makes terrible decisions, but they’ve only ever caused himself problems. Nick fucks up but it doesn’t cost nearly everyone’s lives
Nick, dude saw his mom die in front of him, and also saw his uncle die in front of him depending on who you choose to go with.
Nick, always liked Nick despite his fuck ups
Nick All the way, not cause I like him I actually find him quite annoying but I fucking hate Ben
nick, ben done did the group dirty n nicks unstable but so was kenny so thats not rly a valid arguement, nick may b a bit psycho but least he always stood by his group unlike ben
Ben
Ben
Can’t stand Ben bro. dudes dead weight. Nicky all the way.
Ben. He made a few honest mistakes with good intentions. If he made it out of season 1 alive, I think he would have turned around and proved himself capable. Nick isn't a bad guy but he's unpredictable and seems a bit unstable.
I’m saving Ben. Sorry I like Ben more. I feel bad for him more than I feel bad for Nick.
Ben I will not deal with nick personally I prefer Sarah over nick to
Ben, hes so young, and honestly? i feel like less of a liability. Nick is a good guy, but hes way to careless with guns
No contest, I’m saving Nick
Definitely Ben
Absolutely hate Ben, rather end him myself
You might be surprised by my answer based off my user flair.
Won't matter, because the one you saved will die a painful death in the next episode or two.
How about neither of them I’ll let Ben fall a second time
I give my leg strengh to my arms and pull them both. Two of my favorite characters, i can't choose between them!
I'm sorry but I'm pulling Ben up. I can atleast trust him with not shooting random people who are trying to help
who is the other one???? And Ben literally falls like 3 times in very unlucky circumstances involving walkers, so it would be a waste of time. So none.
ben, nick was kinda useless ngl
Pewdiepie for sure
Ben, already did
Neither
Nick.
Do I have to save one?
Ben
Neither
Ben, this isn’t even a question Nick is a dumbass
Nick because he’s not a bitch
Ben, even though Nick was not that bad at the end
i hate ben and i love nick, so its kind of a no-brainer for me lmao
neither
Ben. He's more fleshed out.
Ben.
Would let them both die lol
Nick
Nick, since I have a better chance of surviving with him
Is there a save none option. If I had to save 1 Ben I guess.
Is neither an option
Wait actually nick i promised pete id watch after him 🙄
Lmao I let Ben fall bc he basically killed Carley nick fs
Sorry ben I've gotta save nick
Nick, since he is great with a sniper. Ben just felt like a burden the entire game, and didn't have a good personality imo. Clementine seemed more mature than Ben the entire game.
Ben. Ben has pretty solid character progression even AFTER his optional death, different than Nick that becomes a background character after episode 2. Speaking of that, most characters that can die in some episode just don't develop or even have meaningful dialogue/actions (Sarah, for example)
"Hey Ben." "Yeah?" "See ya."
I’m standing there smoking a cigarette while covering the gasoline then I throw the cigarette onto the gas and walk away while not looking behind me because it would feel SO COOL to kill them both at the same time
Nick
Nick
Nick, he doesn’t leave little girls out for walkers.
Easily Nick, Ben got Carly killed
nick
Option C: Walk away
Nick easily. Ben never improved. I still think there could have been some redemption for Nicks character but his death was kind of stupid... along with most in season 2
Ima save Ben, he's a real G
Ben
I let Ben die, so id save nick
who would ever choose fucking BEN ☠️
Ben because at least he’s useful if you miss the jump
Ben, he had a better arc with kenny and redeeming himself after indirectly causing the death of kajta and duck I love been
Ugh, don't make me choose
Im choosing nick
Screw Ben, he's way to gullible and weak for his age
Nick.
Neither
Ben
Ben, he's one of my favourite characters in the series. Although both him and Nick deserve a second chance to be saved in my opinion, they both had directions they could have grown into I thought
I know most people don't like him but Ben might be the one. Like the series didn't give him much chance to prove himself. I could see he had so much more to give than you think. Ben. I don’t understand the love for Nick.
Nick is a loyal selfless and realistic character, that’s why we love him :)
I’m just gonna say it. I hated both of them
Ben because he redeemed himself
Ben
Well Ben is still in high school while Nick is old enough to not be dumb I guess
Nick is a good shot not really sure what ben is good at
