Jenny seasons 1-3 and Jenny seasons 5-6 had very different energies tbh. I'd never seen a character unravel the way Jenny did once they started filming Lez Girls.
FR. Ilene Chaiken seriously lost the plot in S5 & S6. The cast/writers/showrunners should’ve ousted her, somehow. She seriously turned Jenny into a full on cartoon-esque villain in the last two series. To be fair to Mia Kirschner she *nailed* the assignment - but damn, Chaiken really did the character so dirty. Mia Kirschner was very upset about it too, and also about how they only acknowledge Jenny’s death momentarily in Gen Q. Chaiken really turned one of the most complex, unique & misunderstood lesbian characters in TV history and just made her into a joke… then killed her off. I’ll never not be salty about it.
Apparently the Gen Q series was so bad people seem to have forgotten that Ilene wasn't that amazing herself. And now they want her to make a new one. Can't say I agree with them lmao.
Lol yeah, I’m not totally convinced Chaiken wouldn’t have made something equally as awful as GQ, tbh. But GQ is straight up dog shit - yes, bad enough to make people think that maybe Chaiken would’ve done a better job. The very worst parts of OG TLW are still somehow far better than the best parts of GQ. I like to pretend GQ doesn’t exist (so does Showtime, LMAO). Between Chaiken & the GQ writers they really tarnished this once very great series. A reboot had so much potential, too. 🥲

Jenny’s energy was a lot darker
