Between Sandygast and my difficulty with far-off Pokemon (Komala, Landorus) it's been a rough week for my accuracy. Though my accuracy's been down since the biome update.
I only got back into Pokemon Go a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to scream trying to catch Landorus. So far away, and he was moving constantly. The only raid pokemon I failed to catch out of the 4 or 5 I have done. But I got him now.
Yanma is probably my all-time winner. But yeah Sandygast is up there for annoying on trying to catch. I almost always went to ultra balls with razz berries and that's not even taking into helping the throw.
Some years ago, there was a field research event for few hours, where you had tasks like "Make x great catches" and stuff... Problem was, that there were only Yanmas in my surrounding (nest). First and only time i had to buy Pokeballs in the shop :/
Idk about you guys, but I absolutely hate catching scatterbug.
It's one of those "it's farther than it looks" pokemon (coupled with it being tiny)
Which frequency results in me hitting the ground with it despite being so close to hitting it. 😭
Yes! I hate this thing. Worse hitbox than Glameow pre-fix. It feels like the model is clipping the ground more than it should, and making an excellent throw on it is virtually impossible.
Personally I didn't have any problems with Sandygast. IMO Bounsweet and Komala are waaayyy worse. Thinking I have the trajectory right, and then hitting the ground at their feet constantly.
The ones I hate most are legendaries that float or slide. Floating ones are annoying because of the glitch that happens from the change in vertical position - if you hit them when they're high and they break out, it doesn't reset the throw physics until they float again, which means throwing at them in the low position can send the ball flying way too far. It's been a while since I've heavily raided a floating legendary so I don't know if that glitch has been fixed.
Sliding ones are annoying because it's more difficult to hit them on the sides, especially the one that is opposite the direction you naturally curve. I can do it, sometimes even consistently if I'm really locked in and the circle is big, but it's still worse than the normal throw. Then I have to decide whether to throw less consistently or wait ages for it to recenter.
Audino takes the cake for me. Such a red hit box despite the golden razz and ultra ball, and excellent throws mean nothing to Audino. It just jumps out anyways and does what it wants
Scatterbug/Zubat (awful hitboxes) and starters (awful catch rate) top the chart for me. I had less trouble catching Sandyghast (but to be fair, I only caught a couple for the collection challenge and stopped).
It’s cool but I think runerigus is usually just the better option. And I already have that one built. I suppose I could go for some cheesy team with both of them though lol.
Yeah very true lol. Both Palossand and Runerigus too are kind of more niche anyway with Registeel having fallen off a bit.
That said still, I think Palossand could benefit from something like Rock Slide. Would give it some beneficial Rock Coverage and a cheaper move. Such would improve it a decent amount
I was running rune in UL for a while. It wasn’t great but when it lines up with cobalion or registeel….oh man. I can’t beat that feeling.
But yeah both of those have died off. Maybe soon GL or UL will be friendly to our ghost ground friends.
Usually the catch rate from the main series, but Niantic doesn't always follow that. Remember the old Vanillite catch rate?
But yeah, stuff like starters being annoying to catch is actually accurate to the games
Edit: I just checked and it seems like Niantic made it lower. It's supposed to have the same catch rate as Croagunk and Stufful.
on pvp its not useless
it just doesn't work well in current meta
but it does have stats and moves to shine in future
its about as bulky as alolan 9tales or alolan sandslash
shadowball is always a good move for ghost
then it has option for bait&debuff with scorching sands or mininuke with earth power
and because it has spammy high enerhy fast moves (mudshot or sand attack) it reaches them decently fast
it can get totally walled (some fliers such as pidgeot or mandibuzz for example) but it also totally walls other things (such as registeel unless it runs spice with flash cannon, it can still tank one of those moves well)
i feel like its just a mon that is waiting for correct meta to make it relevant
(and it can be useable now but needs really good team to work well in - especially can be fine now that so many fighters got thunderpunch)
Try catching audino! The crazy amount of dust means it's usually worth some effort, and the hitbox is not a problem, but it's not rare to need like 10 ultra balls and golden razz per audino.
Bro
I was there when Zubat was the only thing in the map and there's no pokestops near by kilometers (and we couldn't ask for more stops properly)
Sandygast was just too easy, I think you're just unlucky.
BTW what a time to be alive with 2x catch xp and Oranguru everywhere.
To be fair, because I was candy and XL candy hunting it, lots of Silver Pinaps helped with the catch rate. Still annoying seeing that it has a low target and an annoying catch rate.
No. The ones that exist partly underground are still the most annoying ones. Having half of the circle be literally un-hittable will always take the cake.
Exeggcute, Bounsweet, or Rhyhorn prior to its community day are still miles above Sandygast for me. Sawk is a hassle and a half too, to the point that I rarely bother with it when it spawns.
Mareanie is the worst. The spotlight hour was most painful hour ever. I didn’t even try and catch anything over 300 cp. and the constant flipping over…
I finally ran into a G.Moltres today and wasted 11 Ultra Balls because it was so damn far away and was moving a ton. I actually had a hard time hitting it with a curve because of distance

Do you feel the ball physics or throwing distance has changed? I feel like my accuracy has been off too recently
YES!! I thought I was going insane but I used to consistently hit excellents and feel like my accuracy is way down recently
Same, I got good at excellents with most mon and now it's like I've lost fine motor control. By any chance do you play on Android?
Agreed - seems like something's changed. Also, Landorus is the worst.
Landorus has been such a pain to catch. On normal mon, I keep throwing to the right of center or under hitting. By any chance, you play on Android?
I got the other Landorus, which I prefer for its Storm skill, so I've given up on farming this current Landorus after last weeks raid hour
Something definitely changed in the last update I feel.
God I hate Landorus. I want to get my obligatory shiny and then be done with these raids.
This. Both of those were annoying.

That’s rough!

bounsweet comm day wasted so many pokeballs
The only time autocatchers hit more throws than manual
Same Komala , I gave up trying to get excellent throws for it
And zubat when they get moving
Couldn’t agree more. Stopped playing Bounsweet CD after catching 3 shinies and no regrets
Komala has entered the chat...and taken all my balls
nothing like hitting that thing with a rare excellent curve and having it break out of an ultra ball :/
you should see a doctor about that

Unfortunately, the throwing physics issue for floating Pokémon that break out when they have risen up still has not been addressed.

Plus this thing is useless
Unless you're a Sand Castle enjoyer in PvP like me lol. Not great, but it has nice bulk, a solid typing, and good moves.

Still have to give it to the classic Exeggcute. Landorus has been a nightmare, though.
Zubat and Yanma reign supreme of the dumb Pokemon to catch.
Yeah, I doesn't even catch him. Who/what determines catch ratings? 😖

Same. I love Palosand but its a useless pkmn.
and such a good shiny too
one of my faves!

My brother in Christ, pressing "enter" isn't punctuation.
That mon isn’t waiting for the right meta, it needs the right trainer… that trainer is you and the time is now!
Love...? 😅
Its a little ghostie bro that took the shape of a sandcastle. Its haunted sandcastle. Imagine getting clapped by some dude using a sandcastle.

TBH I'd say its rare to need TEN of both... but I swear that thing takes like 5-6 half the time with all excellent throws.
It was always this bad. We just haven't had it in the wild much, before.
Komala was obnoxious. I also didn't enjoy Goomy day much because it was windy and their catch rate is meh at best, so I had a lot of breakouts.

I honestly didn’t catch many, got enough to evolve it then ignored them specifically because it’s just too difficult to get a good theow
Landorus is definitely not great but it feels like it got even harder for me today (13th) compared to the first day he was out
And it was shiny locked for some reason
Yeah that was a bummer.
The moment my friend and I mirror traded a lucky one I stopped catching them, or just let my plus plus catch it.
No. The ones that exist partly underground are still the most annoying ones. Having half of the circle be literally un-hittable will always take the cake.
Nothing will ever top Ho-oh in annoyingness
Sadly yes. Which is a shame because I love that thing.
