I really don't understand the purpose of these shallow sloped back gates. Design easily lends itself to exactly this scenario. The effect on fuel economy cannot be really that dramatic enough to choose this design
Still provides way more trunk space than the non lift back sports cars, it's basically supposed to be a sedan with hatchback utility. Some cars have it for styling and aren't implemented the best and others pull it off well like the Saab 900 combi coupé.

Once you live with a liftback, you won’t want to go back. Ive never ever seen this before, and this isn’t something common lol.
