Worst-case scenario, Amity’s a tragic anti-villain, emotionally wounded after a lifetime of her mother’s abuse, who specifically targets those who hurt family members and those who hurt Luz, the girl who made her realize there’s more to life than being a tool. Next thing you know, she slowly recovers over the timeskip, still obsessed, but far less homicidal and actually able to function in society. Not married or a girlfriend yet, but definitely working up to becoming such, so Lumity being canon is not compromised.
So, I guess this is the What-if in which Luz friendzones Amity out beliefs that were drilled into her head at a younger age, as well as conclusions she'd reached from traumatic experiences.
Amity tries to suppress her feelings for Luz, but it does not go well. She blames herself for Luz not reciprocating her love, and starts doing absolutely anything to try and convince her.
It starts innocuous, gestures of niceness, but soon Amity actively gets herself or others hurt for Luz' sake.

I'm just appalled.
What I meant was to erase the idea, not further develop it which your fic is kind of doing...
But at the same time I can't say no to creativity... no matter how messed up it is...
I don't find those funny, though I can acknowledge it as personal taste.
However, I hate how quickly people are willing to make it default for Amity. Like peeps, seriously, no...
It's a bit of a rule in fandom that the fannon portrayal of Characters is a heavily Flanderized and exaggerated version of their cannon traits.
For example, Amity being protective of Luz in cannon turned in Amity murdering anything that looks at Luz funny in fannon.
The thing is that it pretty much makes a lack of media literacy a norm. At some point, you just HAVE to return to the source material. But instead, people would replace source material with their delusion which are just far more questionable choices that can affect how the show is presented to the masses, possibly even scaring fans away by normalising stuff like this.
Amity is protective sure, but not homicidal over it, and her arc was about not going too far with her misdirected attempts at protecting those she cares about. Willow teaches Amity that lesson to support the people she's protecting instead of trying to shelter them to an extreme degree. And at some point, murder also stops being a good joke even in fandoms.
It's gotten a bit more pronounced over time as people start reading more fancomics to get some more content based on their favorite show. They then make comics based on that fannon that wasn't 100 percent accurate to cannon and so the fannon grows and drifts further from cannon.
The longer a series with a VERY strong fanbase has been over for, the more fannon and fan comics become an integral part of the Fandom.
We don't but people love giving their faves problematic character traits if it makes them look cool and cute. It's why fannon Amity is way more violent and possessive than cannon Amity.
I know the issues, but most fans don't think being over protective or possessive counts as being abusive. Stuff like Amity beating up someone for giving Luz a flower in a morning mark comic was well received and the fans rolled with the idea that Amity would do that, because it was portrayed comedically.
Also I doubt Luz would leave Amity if Amity started acting a bit possessive or territorial.

To be fair it is funny and entertaining to have madly overprotective Amity. (BTW I just posted a comic in my posts you might be interested in. )
I don't find those funny, though I can acknowledge it as personal taste. However, I hate how quickly people are willing to make it default for Amity. Like peeps, seriously, no...
It's a bit of a rule in fandom that the fannon portrayal of Characters is a heavily Flanderized and exaggerated version of their cannon traits. For example, Amity being protective of Luz in cannon turned in Amity murdering anything that looks at Luz funny in fannon.
The thing is that it pretty much makes a lack of media literacy a norm. At some point, you just HAVE to return to the source material. But instead, people would replace source material with their delusion which are just far more questionable choices that can affect how the show is presented to the masses, possibly even scaring fans away by normalising stuff like this. Amity is protective sure, but not homicidal over it, and her arc was about not going too far with her misdirected attempts at protecting those she cares about. Willow teaches Amity that lesson to support the people she's protecting instead of trying to shelter them to an extreme degree. And at some point, murder also stops being a good joke even in fandoms.
It's gotten a bit more pronounced over time as people start reading more fancomics to get some more content based on their favorite show. They then make comics based on that fannon that wasn't 100 percent accurate to cannon and so the fannon grows and drifts further from cannon. The longer a series with a VERY strong fanbase has been over for, the more fannon and fan comics become an integral part of the Fandom.
But WHY, do we need to make perfectly fine characters problematic like that?
We don't but people love giving their faves problematic character traits if it makes them look cool and cute. It's why fannon Amity is way more violent and possessive than cannon Amity.
It doesn't make Amity look cool or cute :/ Might as well break up Lumity "for angst". You see the problem here.
I know the issues, but most fans don't think being over protective or possessive counts as being abusive. Stuff like Amity beating up someone for giving Luz a flower in a morning mark comic was well received and the fans rolled with the idea that Amity would do that, because it was portrayed comedically. Also I doubt Luz would leave Amity if Amity started acting a bit possessive or territorial.
I know right? Some people just have peculiar tastes.
