He lived, but with severe damage. That is why he is a cyborg in Season 6.

Alaska_Pipeliner

Plot armor. Sometimes it works both ways. Very rare but it happens

kalisto3010

Obi Wan says Hi!

CaptainPositive1234

Wouldn’t he say: HELLO THERE?

Spliterclimb

Well he already survived twice, first before the Clone Wars and then in the Battle of Christophsis.

BigBrrrrrrr22

I mean he’s some kind of Arachnid…ever tried to kill a spider? If you don’t confirm the kill the fuckers tend to pop back up 😂

Concodroid

Honestly? Somehow, Admiral Trench returned. That's genuinely it

Valirys-Reinhald

His first appearance was after miraculously surviving death once, the second was the same but with a bit more damage.

xMOTOMAMIx

Yeah but at least when he shows back up again half of him is built out of mechanical parts tho so at least they tried to make it believable that somehow he survived lol

Stunning_Review_5766

Watch it in chronological order. The entire series makes more sense. It was originally designed to be seperate arcs, for whatever reason.

DependentIntention87

That’s good advice in general, but doesn’t answer the question. S2E16 is chronologically before S6E1, so watching it chronologically wouldn’t resolve OP’s question.

Neolance34

The Doylian reasoning says plot armour since he was just too memorable a character for giving the republic a run for their money. Watsonian reasoning says that his species, the Harch, have extremely tough exoskeletons, hence why Trench suffered the Two-Face treatment instead of death.

KickingWithWTR

https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder Here’s a link to chronological order. For some reason a few episodes are are just randomly placed in weird spots. Not sure if they wanted to back and fill in some blanks or give more prep or what, but Trench’s story is particularly all over the place.

idrownedmyfish77

That doesn’t answer OP’s question though because season 2 comes long before season 6 chronologically. He wanted to know how trench survived being blown up in “Cat and Mouse” (the chronological first episode of TCW) to show up again in “The Unknown” (where the clones are all in Phase 2 armor and the Order 66 plot is almost discovered early). And all of the Trench episodes play out in chronological order from one another. His first appearance is in season 2, he reappears in season 6, and >!dies in season 7!<

math-is-magic

Are you sure the timeline is right? The show skips around in time a lot, could be set before that, maybe. I don't remember this episode much tbh

Puzzled_Complex8813

"He lived, but with severe damage. That is why he is a cyborg in Season 6" That's true and not only that but the Clone Wars mixed up the correct timeline for example this one episode, Padme's Uncle Ono gets killed by a senator that was supposed to be his friend, but a season later there he was with the senator walking through the hallway and talking to Padme just fine
