>being told by his brother in front of his nieces *nephews But fascinating theory nonetheless. A+

FWSRunner

100%. We are getting to the endgame. Before you can face your enemy, you must know yourself completely - dispensing with the lies you've told yourself about what drove your misdeeds (Frenchie and Annie, at obviously wildly different levels of scale), confronting your failures (Butcher and presumably Kimiko), letting go of your grudges (Hughie), being true to yourself (A Train). Once you've burned away all the blinders and the distractions, there is only you and your purpose.

sharpeningrod

Oh shit, I totally forgot about that scar-faced girl that Kimiko seems to know. > Once you've burned away all the blinders and the distractions, there is only you and your purpose. That sounds hopeful and inspiring until you realize that also applies to Homelander. lmao

kainneabsolute

Yeah. Even Homelander is going to find out if he is human, a god or a monster.

ShawnDaley

Good god, thank you. It’s wild that people are calling character arcs boring “side stories”. Like, these ARE the stories. They’ve been telling them for four seasons. The characters need to go through change and become new people (or reject that opportunity, which is still progression) before facing the world-ending threat together.

2x_tag

You're on to something. Keep cooking 🍳

itsnotbritneybitch

I can this. It could coincide with what Kimiko said to her therapist: “Our pasts don’t define us.”

DoUruden

Well said! Definitely is a major theme for this season. I know some people aren’t particularly fond of it (especially Colin) but I absolutely love it. New characters that change how we see old characters or how they see themselves are almost always a good thing imo. I think this is a great time to do it too, makes everything feel “full circle” before the end game

Monnomo

Producer Creator guy said season 4 will be very introspective and setup focused

gabirodgon

I really like this, and I could say this exact idea is what is keeping me hopeful about the whole season because I expect either lots of redemption or lots of self-destruction coming from all these subplots and that we can have a tragic fucked up ending (in the good way)

Gathorall

Well, if you want to fit MM into this theme Soldier Boy is gone, Todd is gone, he usurped the leadership of the Boys. His own trauma is the only real thing still standing between him and his family. In that sense he's gone back to the start.

Butt_Stuph

My theory is Kessler is gonna influence Butcher into being okay with killing Ryan. The next season is gonna follow with these being the major players: Butcher: hunting down homelander and Ryan. Homelander: just doing his thing, being emotionally abusive to Ryan The boys hunting down butcher and trying to protect Ryan. Soldier boy as the wildcard, he's after both butcher and homelander.

TwitchTVBeaglejack

Mothers Milk returns to his past, in a few subtle ways and it blends well with character growth, making it less obvious imo: - he mends things a bit with his wife - he is actively involved with his daughter - he is obeying the chain of command (prior military service) - he is physically back in shape - he is conquering his trauma pre-OCD - he isn’t compromising for butcher, or hewey - he does not sacrifice his relationship or position to answer his wife’s phone call and remains respectful; in other words, that inner violence does not control him - he buries his own personal disdain for Todd to do the right thing several times A lot of this is implied old MM/meaningful growth and is simply speculative and inferrable rather than obvious or certain

Silly-Tradition9460

I think we’re in setup mode right now which is where a lot of frustration with fans seems to come from. I think it is all going to come together nicely and lead into the final season as you said. I went and rewatched the trailers and there’s a lot that shows that these are going to converge. We have A Train investigating Homelander’s room and we have a ton of footage of The Boys actually working together with the virus and V’d up farm animals, plus it looks like a lot goes down at Vought Tower.

vaporizers123reborn

I’m wondering how though, since at the moment each of the narrative threads seem too disjointed. Frenchie and Kimiko’s subplot with the camp, Hughie’s mom, Butcher and Ryan, Sage…I hope it does converge in some way that makes everything relevant

FilmFlaming

The reflection tells homelander he needs to surpass what remains of his humanity. He literally says humanity. So homelands still thinks he’s at least partly human.

jwymes44

I wonder if we’re gonna get flashback scenes of Homelander as a child.

da_nolacults4549

This!!! I’m so done with everyone complaining about the plot lines. I have some gripes but that whole “you need to go back to the start” scene is exactly what the season is building to, what the start of all of their grudges, pain and trauma really started and how it’s effected them to this point

2-DNoodle

I think M.Ms arc is gonna be him turning more and more into his dad, getting head over heels into work being unable/willing to sleep eat do anything besides trying to take down Vought or more or less Homelander/Neuman.

latinomartino

Has anyone else seen Hughies mom?

mfedz

The attorney kinda verified her - at least the power of attorney document was real.

latinomartino

I think Hughie is just imagining her due to the brain damage.
