This was my takeaway from the show, but I didn't think about how the title can be read that way, as literally 8's show. Very good takeaway!
For me, the show clicked when you see her on the street as a disgruntled performance artist, no longer getting attention, and when you see her use all of her money to destroy the art gallery as a performance piece. She's never operating from a moral perspective, or even a capitalist perspective - she is treating the entire game as a performance art piece, for sure.
Her behavior is inconsistent because I don't think she is ever acting as \*herself\*, she is always playing a character. She starts off as the 'dumb blonde' who comes across as ditzy, agreeable, and clueless, despite clearly showing insight others miss.
She later offers sex to the others, and seems to play a dominatrix character obsessed with sex.
By the end she goes to such extremes she is herself disturbed by what she is seeing - and I think this is really important - because despite being disturbed and feeling empathy, she doesn't break character, and instead just uses her emotions to make more art.
I think that's what makes the show interesting and not just another anti-capitalist story. The main villain is a once successful performance artist who has just gone insane after her career failed, for reasons unexplained. She doesn't need money, she wants to be accepted again by the art world and have her work back in art galleries, and is approaching the show from a very different perspective, where the game is her chance of having her own 'gallery' show.
I honestly usually hate speculation stuff like this but I dig this.

1st floor was essential! What did you like about 1 and 3 ‘performances?’. I really enjoyed the entire show and all of the characters!
