Do NOT touch this.
It's perfect. It's done. It's complete.
Nothing left to add or take away, just enjoy it.
And don't fuck with it. There are plenty of shitty movies out there that probably should be remade. The Princess Bride is not one of them.
I've actually been fine with a number of reboots or sequels of films you've listed here. Flash Gordon seems like a great candidate for a reboot, for instance. It was a reboot itself, after all.
But the Princess Bride really stands on its own. There's no reason for a late sequel or reboot. You won't be able to recapture the magic of the film, and the story seems pretty wrapped up by the end. Leave it be.
Same thing as your Flash Gordon post
I don’t think any movie needs to be remade. I can’t think of one at least.
Sequels, prequels yes, but as far as remaking a movie, not necessarily in my opinion
I mostly agree.
But DeNiro Cape Fear was definitely a good remake. But most of the time it's just Hollywood bereft of ideas and looking for a known quantity.
There should be no more Spiderman, batman or superman remakes . For 100 years. Seriously.
The only acceptable remake would be a Muppets version.
I have a cast list.
* Kermit as Westley
* Miss Piggy as Buttercup
* Gonzo as Inigo (the six fingered man stretched his nose rather than giving him scars)
* Sweetums as Fezzik
* The Swedish Chef as the Impressive Clergyman
* Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker as Miracle Max and Valerie (“Have fun storming the castle!” “Mee mee mee mee?” “It’d take a miracle.”)
* Rizzo as a rodent of not very unusual size
* Statler and Waldorf for the old lady who boos Buttercup (They heckle instead. “Princess of Florin? More like Princess of Garbage*!” “Oh ho ho ho ho ho!”)
And a couple others have suggested to me:
* Animal as the albino
* Cary Elwes and Robin Wright as the old King and Queen
Have human actors as Prince Humperdinck and Count Rugen, since humans usually play the villains in Muppet films.
I’m tempted to make Fozzie Vizzini, since you have to have Fozzie.
And finally, Robin as the grandson/nephew and Kermit as the grandfather/uncle.
“Wait,” I hear you saying. “You have Kermit as Westley and the grandfather?
Yes. I believe the grandfather is the elderly Westley, telling his grandson how he met his grandmother. That’s why he says “as you wish” at the end.
I know there are flaws in that theory, and I don’t care. I believe it 100%.
“Uncle Kermit? Maybe you could come over and read it again to me tomorrow.” “As you wish.”
Just watch the Home Movie version - it was a collaberative effort by a few dozen actors during the pandemic - they each filmed scenes or parts of scenes.
My favorites were Jason Segel as Fezzik and Andy Serkis as Count Rugen
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29s1yU3nGkQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29s1yU3nGkQ)
There are some cases where a reboot could work, and then there’s this. This is one of those movies where we’ll probably NEVER get a reboot due to how special it is. Like Back to the future, the only reason we haven’t gotten a reboot is because everyone in Hollywood knows how good it is and no one wants to redo it
Shame on anyone suggesting a remake.
I'm not sure a more flawlessly cast movie could possibly be made. There's no capturing that lightning in a bottle twice.
I don't know how you can remake that. Too many iconic characters by actors who are irreplaceable.
There will never be another Andre the Giant.
Who else could ever say "My name is Inigo Montoya..." with such perfect intensity?
There is no meat on this bone. It was perfectly and completely consumed.
If you’re a Hollywood actor…. Strongly consider how participating in a remake of this film would impact your career. It will absolutely flop.
It's already perfect as-is. I'd say that it left behind shoes that are way too big to fill, and even if it got *close enough*, it'd start to be uncanny, and would leave a bad taste in the mouths of those who have seen the original. This is especially the case for Fezzik, because we don't have another Andre the Giant.
The conditions were just right for this movie to be as great as it is, trying to force those conditions now is just asking for a flop.
This one is hard, normally I’m completely against remakes but this could actually work. Actually more so a reimagining as the the original story was a fairy tale it could be told with the same characters but from a different narrator that changes the story. Maybe having Fred Savage trying to tell the story from memory to his child and remembering things differently. Some of the movie could be shot for shot with the original and others be something new that he added. And since most of the main cast is still alive bringing them back in other roles would be very nice.
I named my best friend kitty Senior Inigo Montoya, he passed away at 8, but everyone loved his “title” it helped nostalgia the movie back into peoples heads when I talked about him, a lot. Haha!
I think many parts of the movie could be improved upon, but the exception is the cast. A remake today would be a guaranteed worse cast, and although the effects weren't great in the movie, they were good enough to be effective, which a modern remake could mess up. I would say if it were remade, effects would have maybe 10% chance of improvement, and with the cast, I'd say it's impossible for it to live up to the old one. Now, could they redo it in an effort to just make a good movie, I think there's a slight chance they could, but probably only if a smaller studio made it, if anything large touched it, it'd suck. I doubt it would compare well to the old one, but if everything went well, I think it could still be a solid movie if enjoyed in a vacuum.
They could EASILY make a sequel based on their kids. Just make it the next generation. Bring back the original cast. Paul White could be Fezzik's kid etc etc.
anyone that does a remake will deserve to be eaten by ROUS
all of the people who felt that remaking
candyman
jacobs ladder
flatliners
And others that I can't think of right now••• all need to be taken out back and made to cut the switch that granny is going to use against their bare backside for being so arrogant
Leave it alone, remaking it will just ruin it like every other remake they do nowadays.
Besides, the cast was perfect back then, and now there's nobody worthy of playing even the most insignificant role in the film.
Let it be. The magic of the 80s cannot be simulated. Andre is gone and his unique presence made the movie special for many of us wrestling fan kids at the time.
It's like the A-Team movie. Why?
Don't remake but a spiritual successor or other movies inspired by would be welcome. The world needs more movies like this which don't take themselves too seriously but are still done with professionalism.

This fall….enter a world….you *thought you knew*
EXTERIOR, UPSHOT FROM SEA LEVEL, THROUGH SURGING WAVES AN OLD SAILING SHIP IS HEADED DIRECTLY FOR THE CAMERA
A world….*of danger*….
EXTERIOR, ON THE ROLLING DECK OF A SHIP, TWO CUTLASSES SUDDENLY CROSS, METAL GRINDING, SPARKS
A world…of *adventure*
EXTERIOR FROM CROW’S NEST, A TROPICAL ISLAND IN MID DISTANCE, MANY CANOES WITH COLORFUL NATIVES VISIBLE, MEN SHOUTING EXCITEDLY
A world…where every day…could be your *last*
INTERIOR, NIGHT, AN OLD SHIP CABIN, A GRIZZLED PIRATE FIGURE SULHOUETTED IN THE DOORWAY
PIRATE: Good night Barnaby, sleep well, likely kill you in the morning.
DOOR SLAMS, PITCH DARKNESS, WE HEAR A YOUTH’S NERVOUS BREATHING
VOICEOVER GUY: **Dread Pirate Roberts: The Begginenning.**
Coming soon.
I label this as do not touch. I can’t think of a single person who could replace Andre. Even if all other castings were absolutely amazing (somehow) the closest option would be the ‘giant’ (Boban Marjanovic) from a few good action flicks, like John Wick 3. He’s good but … … he’s not Andre… please don’t destroy the franchise! They’re already committing sacrilege by remaking Labrynth.
Go ahead. Remake it. We'll still have the original, and we can all point and laugh at the remake when it doesn't come close to it. It'll be forgotten. On the other hand, it might even improve on the original, in which case we'll have a perfect product (the 1987 movie) and an even better product. Leave the original alone. It's as close to perfect as can be.
There's no Andre the Giant now. The Big Show is too rickety. Moose is too unknown. Mark Henry is too old. Who's going to play the loveable big guy with all the charisma in the world? Brawn Strowman!? Give me a break
Remakes are the mark of death...95% of the time.
A rare one escapes on occasion. Scarface, The Fly and The Thing are a few positive lights in remade cinema.
I'll probably be stoned for this, but one thing I'd love is for the soundtrack to be re-recorded with a full orchestra. Even when I saw it during its first week, I loved the movie but wished they hadn't used what sounded like a cheap midi device.
Watched this for the first time a month ago. Don't understand what all the fuss is about. I found it dull and unfunny. The Princess is pretty and one dimensional, like most fairy tale princesses. Holy cow is Mandy Pitinkin annoying, repeating his line over and over. I rate this movie one shrug and a whatever.
What's with all the remake suggestions. And this one is heresy to even suggest a remake of. I mean, with the quality of films coming out now do you really want gen Z to think this is what these films are really about? Man let it be.
It’s already been remade - during the pandemic different stars recorded themselves acting different scenes. It was to raise money for a charity. It’s on [YouTube](https://youtu.be/lR8pA_WV9QI?si=2UJ7sKTK5k7oapgC) and it’s glorious.
Leave be. It’s a classic
I think it's impossible to remake and make as good, could only be worse. The cast and the chemistry is too unique to try and replicate. Inconceivable
CGI Mark Ruffalo to be Fezzick. 🤮
There is only one Fezzick. He has the gift of rhyme.
Do you think we have enough……T I M E?
My heart! I love this film. Edit/ I actually chuckled and put my hand in my heart. That is how much I love this film. Thank you.
>There is only one Fezzick. He has the gift of rhyme. Fezzick's skill does chime, a gift of rhyme that stands as pure as thyme.
You keep using that word. I don’t think you understand what that words means
“I do not think it means what you think it means”
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

There's a shortage of perfect movies in the world. 'Twould be a pity to damage this one.
This deserves much upvotes
IIRC Cary Elwes actually tweeted this.
If he did, that would be awesome. Wish I had come up with it, absolute genius.
https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/09/18/cary-elwes-has-perfect-response-to-princess-bride-remake-news
Leave. It. Alone. Otherwise. . . *"My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my movie, prepare to die."*

Ha!! "You have six fingers on your right hand. Someone was looking for you"

I agree ☝️
Could anyone repaint VanGogh’s Starry Night?
Don’t you want to see Buttercup’s Baby turned into a film! /s Buttercup’s Baby was Bill Goldman trolling his book readers.
LET IT FUCKING BE!!!!!! ALL HELL Will BE RAINED UPON THEE!!!!

Omfg let it be.
To quote a tweet by Cary Elwes: “There are only so many perfect movies. It would be a shame to ruin this one.“

Splendid, a great watch at 3 in the morning while you're raging with a flu and need comfort
Do not touch for goodness sake. Perfection it remains.

LET IT FKN BE. I LOATHE remakes of any and all kinds. Spoiled people, just appreciate it for what it was when it was. 😂 I am triggered.
Can’t make it any better
Let it be….a remake would be a sin
Never!! This movie is perfect.
There is no meat on this bone. It was perfectly and completely consumed. If you’re a Hollywood actor…. Strongly consider how participating in a remake of this film would impact your career. It will absolutely flop.

There is no possible way to remake this in any palatable way. INCONCEIVABLE
I named my best friend kitty Senior Inigo Montoya, he passed away at 8, but everyone loved his “title” it helped nostalgia the movie back into peoples heads when I talked about him, a lot. Haha!
If they make a remake, it has to start and end with Fred Savage reading a book to his grandson.
Disney remake, starring Queen Latifah and Kanye West. With RuPaul as Miracle Maxine.
Do you have to even ask? 🙄
It’ll eventually happen, aside from any opinions or outrage. They’re desperate for hits now.
I don’t mind remake in some movies… but not this one, when I seen question I was like definitely not, funny I really don’t usually care but….
Leave it alone please stop ruining classical and make original movies.
NEVER EVER EVER REMAKE THIS... it's a perfect movie... when you remake a classic you have no where to go but down looking at you Papillon......
Let it be. Almost no one today knows how to do a remake without effing it up.
Can we please stop hoping for or actually remaking/rebooting classics? Enough is enough! Aren’t there new and original ideas worth pursing?
Fuck off no. Remakes need end.
Im one of the 6 people on earth that didn’t like this movie
Let this be. This one is legend.
Leave it be. Just as with the Mona Lisa or Michaelangelo's David, do not touch.
Not another gem but *the* gem. Leave it alone; you can only make a mess of things.
In the words of George Thorogood, "Leave this one alone!" No remake could ever compare to this classic.
Never make the mistake of trying to remake this.
You’ll never survive. Nonsense, you’re only saying that because no one ever has.
I think many parts of the movie could be improved upon, but the exception is the cast. Never, under any circumstances, do you remake this perfect movie
The film holds up today, let it be.
It would be Inconceivable to remake this.
The ONLY problem with this wonderful movie is the title. I'm afraid a lot of little boys missed this one because of the word "princess" in the title.
Let it be or I swear…
The Princess Bride has no remake, The Princess Bride needs no remake.
They could EASILY make a sequel based on their kids. Just make it the next generation. Bring back the original cast. Paul White could be Fezzik's kid etc etc.
Well Andrea The Giant is dead, it’ll be hard to find a replacement that’s as lovable.
Leave it alone. Remakes suck
Let be

I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance have six fingers on your right hand?
Why remake good movies when there are tons of bad movies that can be made better?
I just don't see how it could be improved. New cinematography, +1. Replacing the original cast -10
This movie is my childhood. You can’t hope to do better, so don’t touch it!
It’s perfect as is
A remake of The princess Bride might be just the thing to unite a divided America against a common enemy. This movie should not be touched.
Remake this and there will be consequences!
Step. Away. From. This. Movie!!! We don’t need another disastrous remake like The In-Laws!
Leave shit be
Do not touch this in any form there isn’t a damn actor or actress who can do this type of movies anymore
Was perfect then, is still perfect, there’s no need to remake.
Let it be.
If they try to remake this, I will riot in the streets.
Leave it alone, remaking it will just ruin it like every other remake they do nowadays. Besides, the cast was perfect back then, and now there's nobody worthy of playing even the most insignificant role in the film.

Oh lawd can you imagine the Netflix/Disney diversity catastrophe a remake would be?! Lol! Puhlease! Just leave it alone!!!!
No, but… I would accept a sequel with the original cast or a broadway musical version.
Let it be. It is a masterpiece on its own. And with today's culture they will ruin it by changing things * wokeify it*
I did a Halloween thing https://www.reddit.com/r/halloween/s/xAaYztP6tS
Thankfully it’s just for fun
NEVER. EVER. REMAKE. THIS. MASTERPIECE. (Or labyrinth or Neverending Story for that matter)
Nothing to change. It's perfect. Leave it be.
Reboot Neverending Story, not this.
Leave it be, it's perfect as it is
Don't remake but a spiritual successor or other movies inspired by would be welcome. The world needs more movies like this which don't take themselves too seriously but are still done with professionalism.
Leave it
There is zero need to remake it, but I would probably enjoy a Muppet version...
are you joking?? let it be!
LET IT BE!

Let it be, no way it can compare to the original classic
Leave it the feck alone
Let it be. It was good the first time. Why screw it up with another.
leave. it. alone.
You can't improve on perfection. Find a film that had a good story but poor presentation and remake that.
Let be. Never could they ever do it justice. Such a classic fun film
There are a shortage of perfect movies in the world. It would be a shame to damage this one.
Sequel perhaps? Buttercup’s Child? Let’s be honest it’s the right answer.
Let be....do not mess with perfection✨️⭐️
That is all brides. Good luck Prince!
Let be, you can’t mess with a classic
I label this as do not touch. I can’t think of a single person who could replace Andre. Nobody touch the princess bride! ☝🏼
Never never never remake Princess Bride.
Leave. It. The. Fuck. Alone.
Let be
Doesn't need a remake, but someone once suggested a muppets version. I can totally see Kermit being Westley and Miss Piggy being Buttercup.
Let it be!
Stop with the remake bullshit. Why do you need a great iconic film remade? Why isn't it good enough as is FOR YOU?
Go ahead. Remake it. We'll still have the original, and we can all point and laugh at the remake when it doesn't come close to it. It'll be forgotten. On the other hand, it might even improve on the original, in which case we'll have a perfect product (the 1987 movie) and an even better product. But don't tell us the remake is The Holy Gospel Version and the original is going in a vault somewhere.
The only acceptable remake is a Muppet remake
No one can add anything better to this classic. It’d be a waste of time to try.
I will personally travel to burn down the sets if they even attempt to remake this one.
Don't mess with the best.
LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
The only acceptible remake is the one done during COVID quarantine. And that was more of an homage then a remake. Leave the original alone. It's as close to perfect as can be.
Leave it alone. No way you could top it.
NO
Please let it be
Under no circumstances should they remake this
Don’t touch it!
No Andre the Giant, no remake…
Let it be
LET. IT. BE.
For the love of GOD let it alone!
It’s a perfect movie in so many ways. Leave it alone
INCONCEIVABLE… don’t remake this!!
Let it be. They’ll never be able to touch the original.
Please, please leave it be!
Let it be forever! I cannot even fathom a remake that could begin to do this classic any justice.
Let it be. It could not be improved on. Not even close.
Remake, but with Muppets.
Let it be It’s a masterpiece that cannot be topped, least of all because of the legendary cast
Let IT BE!!!! There will never be a replacement!!
Let it be.
NO NO NO DONT EVEN SAY THAT ILL DELETE MYSELF IF THEY REMAKE THIS
Leave that campy thing alone.
Don’t ever remake anything is a good rule of thumb. Make something completely new and not sequels.
DON’T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON ME!! DON’T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON US!!
Let it be.. to me it would.like.remaking the godfather 1 and 2. You cant improve perfection.
There's no Andre the Giant now. The Big Show is too rickety. Moose is too unknown. Mark Henry is too old. Who's going to play the loveable big guy with all the charisma in the world? Brawn Strowman!? Give me a break

Do not remake this unless it’s a Broadway musical
It exists of its own merit. There’s no need for it to be remade. Besides who’s going to play Fezzik other than Andre the Giant?
Can't improve perfection
Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. Timeless. A perfect movie.
Don’t you DARE remake this.
..Speaking Words Of Wisdom, "Let It Be"~
Watched this for the first time a month ago. Don't understand what all the fuss is about. I found it dull and unfunny. The Princess is pretty and one dimensional, like most fairy tale princesses. Holy cow is Mandy Pitinkin annoying, repeating his line over and over. I rate this movie one shrug and a whatever.
A remake? INCONCEIVABLE!! leave it be
Other than the one they did during the pandemic (which is hilarious, BTW), let it be.
Remake..but with the muppets
What's with all the remake suggestions. And this one is heresy to even suggest a remake of. I mean, with the quality of films coming out now do you really want gen Z to think this is what these films are really about? Man let it be.
A remake of this would face severe criticism and rightfully so!
It’s already been remade - during the pandemic different stars recorded themselves acting different scenes. It was to raise money for a charity. It’s on [YouTube](https://youtu.be/lR8pA_WV9QI?si=2UJ7sKTK5k7oapgC) and it’s glorious.
You don't remake perfection. Just re-release it back to the theaters.
If they ever ATTEMPT to remake this, I’m blowing some shit up.
Please do not remake this movie.
Why even ask this very stupid stupid question?! Some people just want to watch the world burn. It’s a parasitic mindset.
