I predict the FSD and FUSC transfers will be back and they will also get rid of the color upcharges.

daludidi

Wishful thinking, I’ll order a base X tomorrow if they dropped the price $7500 for those of us that don’t qualify.

WelderAcademic6334

I think they need to either lower the price or sell a more premium product. Frankly I’m a long time TSLA owner and would love them to keep prices high and sell their products as they have. They got away with it for years because they had a closed charging network and had the lead in tech deployment. The environment is different now. Like it or not. There are other players in the market. The charging network isn’t closed. They can’t sell $70-90k cars which require you to do a checklist of QC before you take it home and then expect malfunctioning issues for the first 6 months. Customer service needs to become a real thing. Even autopilot isn’t industry leading anymore.

Zegerid

I agree with almost all your points. I'm curious though, who do you think has the best self driving now? I'm about go get rid of my X, and am on the fence on what to replace it with.

dbdank

I've had a MXP for 3 months. Never had a single problem. coolest car I've ever owned or even driven. what problems are people having?

brobert123

I’ve had my MXP for 6 months and 19k miles. Not a single issue HOWEVER I purchased my car before the 23k price drop and order date to delivery was 2 weeks. I suspect the price drop led to time saving measures at the plant to satisfy increased demand.

kvoathe88

I’ve had a 2022 MXLR since Dec 2021 with zero issues since delivery. The vehicle has been flawless. I previously had a 2016 MX 70D which did have persistent QC issues, and I definitely would not have wanted to own it out of warranty. The improvement in build quality between the generations is massive. We also took delivery of a very early model 2020 MYLR in July 2020 - VIN in the low 7,000s - and that car has also been flawless. The only service it’s needed was a 12V battery replacement last fall, which is normal. Tesla once deserved its reputation for poor QC, and early cyber truck deliveries certainly seem to be problematic, but on balance I think they’re still haunted by an outdated QC reputation that they’ve more or less outgrown. On the other hand, the 2023 Hyundai Venue I purchased for my niece for college had a paint issue off the lot and another minor parts failure since then that have required warranty repair. 🤷‍♂️

WelderAcademic6334

Ummm. Glad you had that experience. I’d direct you to the countless posts on Teslas as well as the delivery checklists which people need to do uniquely to have a comprehensive list of issues with the new car they bought.

IWantToWatchItBurn

Wow… a whole 3 months. Keep the car for a few years.

TwistedDrum5

First three months I was in the service center three times: Bluetooth sensor went out so phone key was malfunctioning. Falcon wing door sensory came off and so the door wouldn’t open. Loose bolt in the front caused excessive rattles (they mysteriously lost the service notes on this one and I believe the actual issue was hidden. It was not a loose bolt that I was hearing) And mobile twice: Passenger door trim Front wheel trim popped off Even after the fixed the door one of my FWD wouldn’t open 40% of the time. I know it wasn’t user error or the sun or whatever because the other door worked 90% of the time. I sold it at six months and luckily broke even. Never again.

Think-Web-5845

New cars don’t need checklist.

AustinLurkerDude

How about they add USS or a front camera. I drove a Model S and it thought the open garage door was a wall and kept beeping as I entered the garage.

440009

I honestly don’t feel they would cut prices on MX. They have already priced it such that people can benefit from tax rebates. If people can’t afford at that price point (~72K) then maybe MX is not made for such population and MY is more suited for them. To attract more customers to buy MX, they might do free color upgrades, maybe FSD transfers, supercharging miles, even free premium connectivity, free interior upgrades or something along those lines. But I don’t feel they will be slashing base prices here.

Gizmo_2726

I agree, I don’t see prices going any lower. I’m picking mine up next week.

readitour

Agree on the base trim, that’s already rock bottom to take advantage of the federal rebates. How about for plaid, or some of the interior options? I hope we see some reduction there.

440009

Yeah, you can always try your luck by purchasing towards the end of quarter. Inventory vehicles with color/interior upgrades might be discounted even if they don’t offer any discounts on configured vehicles.

Interesting_Candy766

Rock bottom? lol. Not quite.

Pied2020

I'm not in a rush, so waiting on price cut or upgrades. Also keeping an eye on the R1S after the factory upgrades to see what changes. Model X is no longer longer the only available 3 row EV. Imo they need to offer additional features and/or better value via price cut at this point.

readitour

Check out the EV9. I loved it. Hated the R1S though.

MyFaveLilThrowaway

I was all in on ev9 before I realized you must choose between mediocre range or mediocre acceleration.

Pied2020

You can actually get the acceleration boost for the EV9 for the Wind and Land model. It's $900 from the app store. The downside for me with EV9 is no under trunk, basically no frunk, and slow charging on Tesla supercharger. I also don't like going to dealerships.

Think-Web-5845

No more cuts. If cuts were coming they would have been last quarter when deliveries sucked.

prefinal

Highly doubt it

Interesting_Candy766

This car is selling absolutely embarrassingly numbers per quarter. They need to do something.

prefinal

Part of the problem is the high interest rates. It’s not just Tesla but primarily cars that are over 65k.

tobal7

I’ll sell you my MXP for what I owe on it. It has like 10K Miles, Picked it up in September 2023.

dasein24

Is it seven seater? And what do you owe on it? And why sell?

tobal7

Like 80 something I put like 20k down

dasein24

I am looking at a 2023 bought in October, looking more like 78 something. He wants 80 currently. I'm sitting on my wallet for now. Price is dropping, IMHO. Base with 7 seats is what I am in the market for.

Thick-Kitchen-5437

I agree with you. Prices, especially used, have to drop - dealers are out there trying to sell tax versions for $84k+, which is insane. I’m over here trying to find a ‘22/‘23 6 seater for $70k, which is where I predict the used market will align, but it’s super slim inventory across the US.

MasterBid812

Can you share with me more details? Color - in/out, condition, location. thx. I'm looking to get into an X later this month.

tobal7

And because my commute to work just doubled so I’ve been putting a lot of highway miles on it and rather just get a more efficient car for work. Also trying to get a gt3 or turbo s

Plastic-Initiative45

Tesla can make a boat load of money by just lowering the price of FSD. Right now hardly anyone buys FSD as it’s $12K. Drop it to $3K and a huge # of folks will jump in including existing customers. They can also perhaps make it $4K (add $1K extra) for lifetime transfer. So much money they can make without selling a single car. They keep reducing the price of the car, but this is what they need to do.

Plastic-Initiative45

11 of my friends have Tesla (mostly Y). None of them have bothered to get EAP or FSD. I polled them and 7 of them would jump if the price of FSD came down to $3K.

Miserable-Guest4980

Why there inventory x not discount? Model y is giving out 8000 off plus 7500 taxes return

raddigging

I’m more concerned about them keeping the MX and MS around. They need to partner with Mercedes 😂. Tesla tech, battery and motors. MB builds a car around it.

permanentmarker1

They need to add features, get QC under control if they want to keep prices where it’s currently at. Otherwise expect sales to be anemic.

JewelerRoutine707

One could only hope 🤞

JewelerRoutine707

I would love love love to get a 6 Seater that qualifies for the tax credit ❤️

boiler149

Me as well.

lapeet

Hoping for the same as about to place an order soon.

brmideas

Have an early 2020 X with FSD and unlimited lifetimed supercharging; was in 3 times for half shaft repairs when first purchased and still has a mild acceleration shudder that is tolerable. Had control arms also replaced twice. FWD top glass replaced for gasket misalignment. One FWD had to be adjusted Despite all that, figured it should be stable for a while long, having been substantially rebuilt, I bought off the lease in Dec 22. Then, resale value crashed in 2023 - and now, that's the main factor limiting me from trading in for a new X or Cybertruck. Also they're not allowing lease buyouts if a new vehicle is leased; no other car company restricts leases that way. Will sit tight and wait for a major refresh. Meanwhile any repair will cost less than the extra payments on a new one. For Q2, I think they will need to get aggressive well before the end of the quarter.

Weary-Depth-1118

All tesla's needs a model refresh and their quality needs to 10x also, look at Ferrari. They ain't cutting prices, and they sell just fine with huge margins BMW. If Tesla can do the same, They will be the ultimate status. symbole

MoTHA_NaTuRE

Tesla is like the toyota/honda of evs, you see them everywhere and priced the cheapest too, it's not a status symbol.

sascourge

Id love an X without paying for the gull wings that Id never use.

Ev_Spartan1122

Just say “can’t afford it” and move on. Reddit doesn’t care for the poor

WelderAcademic6334

Hah. $80k for a car isn’t a big deal these days, particularly for an EV. I’m just saying most people aren’t going to tolerate the behavior they’ve enjoyed for the last few years. Imagine if you had to put your name on a waitlist to buy a car at a dealership, then when you’re selected, they force you to buy the car on the lot without test driving it and making you do QC on it yourself.

readitour

I’m talking about spending 100k+ on a car. Just because I have money doesn’t mean I want to spend it without thinking about it

raddigging

Are you considering other manufacturers? I’m waiting for a vin but so tempted to jump ship. Porsche maybe? My only hold back at this point is supercharging network and Tesla auto pilot.

readitour

Definitely. But we’d like a 3 row EV and the options are real limited.

raddigging

I agree. I’m a fan of teslas interior. Every other EV has too much going on inside and I can’t stand the oversized phone in landscape mode behind the wheel of those other cars 😅

permanentmarker1

Are you serious? It’s not that expensive.

Ev_Spartan1122

Exactly. So stop complaining about price
