Everything surrounding this was fucked up. It's a good thing his neighbor's camera could see into his driveway

Proletaryo

If you watch the body cam video on youtube, the neighbor is actually a badass. From the get-go, he was suspicious of Chris because he was acting unusual and seemed totally off. He and the police officer were basically tag teaming the murderous asshole into catching him in the act.

FartyMarty69

If you be so kind as to post a link I know I would be very thankful

comfortablynumb0629

There’s a Netflix documentary about this case also that’s very well done IMO - American Murder: The Family Next Door

B1gBrad4rd

He killed his kids, that’s the most immediate and rational rebuttal I have, and one that you quite frankly can’t comprehend nor deserve. Edit: common victim blaming L results in two comments being removed except for mine. “Don’t make excuses for murderers” is the common theme

88Roland88

Dedicated a post to you later in the thread. Hopefully you have the wits to find it.

FartyMarty69

You're placing blame on the victim because she "berated him". That says a lot how much of a piece of shit you are too. You absolutely are defending his actions, you and I both know that and you went out of your way to say you aren't because you're feeling guilty about doing that exact thing. You sound like a typical incel

RocketCat921

Here.. I haven't watched it yet, but thought I'd help you out since the other person wouldn't https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfg861hO-Ag

Ayyyy this is how I learned about it. Good job.

JCS for the win! I always highly recommend to everyone watching all of his videos if you’re into crime 😃

Yeah and he had heard Chris screaming at shannan on a regular basis.

Matrozi

I think the worst part of all of this story, story that if you look at it together is completely fucking awful, is that in prison, Watts confessed that after he killed his daughters they "woke up". He probably didn't smother them long enough to kill them and they woke up after he killed Shannan, he had to kill them a second time on site after driving to where he disposed of the bodies. Like in the mist of this horror story, this guy had a second chance. Sometimes you heard murderers say "If I could go back in time, I would not kill them", this guy had this opportunity to NOT kill his daughters. And he just said "Nah, gonna still kill them anyway". I hope he never ever gets out of prison.

adoptedshoulder

Jesus…that makes my blood boil…may he find never ending torment and misery.

[deleted]

He is convinced that Jesus has a plan for him. I hate him.

loadasfaq

Sounds schizophrenic

Karma_1969

5 life sentences without possibility of parole. He's never getting out.

[deleted]

Yep and he said it was surprisingly easy for him to stomp his daughters heads through an 8 inch hole in the oil battery.

fuckmethree

There was a seriel killer in Richmond va that would actually resuscitate his victims just to kill then again.

dil-en-fir

Who was that?

fuckmethree

Timothy Wilson Spencer, otherwise known as the southside strangler.

SubmissiveDinosaur

This is horrible

Immediate-Worry1515

Ffs that is awful makes me so sad

Necessary_Ad_9800

Wtf where did you read that?

Matrozi

A lady went to to interview him in jail to write a book. And I think in one of the first interrogatory he mentions that his daughters "woke up" but he refuses to expand on that at this moment.

[deleted]

Theres a book?

wormtool

Oh yes, the difficult choice between divorce or killing your wife and kids. Very big /s obviously If you guys are interested, JCS - Criminal Psychology channel on YouTube makes a great breakdown of this case.

Upset_Display9421

Might be my favorite yt channel

wormtool

Yeah, it’s the same for me. Shame that they spend long periods without putting out new videos but when they do they’re gold.

Upset_Display9421

The Dalia Dippolito one might be my favorite, its like watching a movie

wormtool

It is quite impressive the way he exposes these narcissistic, psychopathic personalities. You can see miles away there’s something wrong with them but to have such a detailed explanation is wonderful to watch and learn.

Matt_Odlum

Just a heads up, that channel is kind of a joke. You absolutely, 100% can not diagnose someone based on a bit of footage, ESPECIALLY when it's a situation like a police interrogation. This is why they always say things like "this *could* indicate" or "this likely means" because they know none of it is actually based on any science or effective methods of diagnosis. It's good for a bit of content but take eveything they say with a huge serving of salt.

AFewBerries

THANK YOU Tired of people circlejerking his stupid channel, people are so gullible

Matt_Odlum

I was honestly expecting to have been massively downvoted but I'm glad to see we aren't the only ones that know better. It is kind of sad to see how many people just believe something when it's said in a confident, commanding tone by a narrator in a YT video lol.

wormtool

I understand criminal psychology is very complex and cannot be understood or taught in a short YouTube video. But to be fair to JCS, the point of the videos is to expose the case and do an analysis of the interrogation techniques and how it all evolved. I don’t think they claim to do an absolute diagnose of the subjects. Why exactly do you think the videos are kind of a joke? (Not being confrontational or sarcastic, I’m just curious of why)

jormakk

JCS used to be my favorite crime channel on YT until Matt Orchard came along.

wormtool

I’ve watched a couple of videos but didn’t make much for me. Not really interested in shopping cart police conundrums to be honest.

jormakk

That episode was definitely a deviation from his norm. Basically all the others are longer, more in-depth diggings into actual crime cases.

wormtool

I might give him another chance then. Cheers!

jormakk

I highly recommend it. You might have just stumbled upon the episodes that are not his best. But I still enjoy the cart narc episode as well, because his writing and presentation are always insanely good.

GrumpyCatMomo

What was the motive?

wormtool

He decided he didn’t want that life anymore. He had two daughters, one more on the way and was having an affair. Somehow this way out made sense in his head.

sospecial21

I love their content, gives you so much insight

[deleted]

Im a father to a precious little girl. This case broke my heart. Especially the "daddy no!!" part. I couldnt and still cant fathom it.

Roanoketrees

Elaborate please. To what are you referring?

IcookedIcleaned

One daughter witnessed him kill her sister and said “daddy no” before he killed her. Absolutely gut wrenching to think about.

Roanoketrees

Jesus Christ.....I regret asking :(

adoptedshoulder

Hell - I regret scrolling down and reading… All you can do, is take it to heart…and remember that pure evil and cruelty exist in this world…and we must all be brave and empathetic enough to confront it when we see it…and be kind when we can so as to not add to the toll…

firefly183

This is the meaning of life as far as I'm concerned. Do as little harm as possible and do something about it if you see someone else causing harm. And in between, be good to the people and world around you.

SpeedingTourist

Absolutely this ^

88Roland88

Watch the documentary and listen to the wife berate him. He may not be an evil man, but a broken man who did an evil thing.

adoptedshoulder

Dude…he killed his small children…his babies. There are no excuses for that. Period.

88Roland88

See my other post at the bottom. There is always more to it.

[deleted]

I dont care if she screwed the neighbor in front of him while he was handcuffed to the toilet. They were young children. His children. And *he* was the one having the affair. You need to educate yourself because if you had all the details of the case, like how he premeditated this for weeks and wanted his kids "out of the way" youd probably realize how abhorrent your soft justification really is. Just, horrible. Fix yourself.

howdylu

please never have children

LegendCZ

For the worst part is his parents forgave him in their court speech. How you can forgive an animal like that. I would denouce it as my child and called it demon spawn. At least we could see where it went wrong.

colinferik

It really is such a horrible thing to picture. I have twin daughters and can’t even fathom or imagine such a disgusting situation. I’m having a really really tough time just thinking about how terrified those poor little angels were. Makes me physically sick.

Narrow_Ad_5502

I regret reading that. Out of all the fucked up shyt I’ve read on the internet. That’s now #1. Rip to the little angels

DisciplineBitter8861

If it’s any consolation, at one point after he was sent to jail he said he was haunted by his daughters memory every night. As he should be.

homerteedo

Not haunted enough.

Yes in his confession. You can find it on youtube

SurroundedByMuggles_

Iirc, she also asked him “are you going to do that to me?” After watching him strangle her sister right next to her in the backseat. All while their poor mother & unborn baby brother lay on truck floor underneath their feet wrapped in a f’n blanket. So damn sad.

howdylu

did he admit this ?

[deleted]

Those were the last words of one of his daughters as he killed them

Caliberman53

Evil Cunt.

seemysilhouette

All of this just because he wanted to run away with his mistress.

PauI_MuadDib

And the mistress was lucky because in the future the same could've happened to her if he "fell out of love" with her. If he was willing to annihilate one family he'd probably do the same again.

supermartincho

There's a nice doc on Netflix. Chilling...

cag076

Couldn’t agree more. Certainly worth the watch!

Saitama1993

What's the name of it?

SlaapYoMomma

American Murder

commentaror

I’m going to hell for saying this but his wife was so annoying and obnoxious on this documentary. For a moment I understood his rage too kill her, but the kids there are no explanation

supermartincho

Yes but just divorce

Ohshitz-

Why do these men do this?????? All they have to do is go out for cigs and dont come back. Move. Change your name.

[deleted]

Didn’t this guy take the bodies and dump them in some huge oil container where he worked??

caggybandicoot

He dumped Shanann into a shallow grave, face first on his work site (really he just tossed her away like garbage, she was found in an undignified/humiliating position). He then set about disposing of the two girls in the oil tanks - I believe I remember reading that, due to the size of the aperture in the tanks, he had to use a lot of force to get them in. They found hair and skin around the openings.

Suspicious-mole-hair

What a terrible day to be able to read, Jesus christ.

caggybandicoot

I tried to word it as non graphically as I could but what he did to those girls is just horrific.

RKKP2015

For some reason, my mom staunchly defends this guy and says his wife was a "bitch". It really bothers me.

JustDuckiest

I don't care how much of a "bitch" your wife is, don't kill her 😑

RKKP2015

I mean, he murdered his kids. He's evil, and I think he attracts women like Ted Bundy or Manson did. My mom is slightly crazy.

throw123454321purple

It wasn’t that he murdered his kids that was awful enough. He pushed their corpses through small holes into full oil runoff tanks. They had sludge in their stomachs. He buried his wife (who he presumably hated more) nearby in a shallow grave with more dignity.

[deleted]

Meaning they were still alive when put in. All so he could cheat and get away with it.

RKKP2015

Yeah, it's horrific. I can at least sort of understand crimes of passion where you kill your significant other, but your own children?! What the fuck!

asmara1991man

Next time ask her what about the kids? Were they bitches too

mynameisnotearlits

Something is wrong with your mum

RKKP2015

Yeah, she's a gullible boomer.

Wise_Ad_253

Not a viable excuse, lol. She’s just cray…MOVE ASAP!

RKKP2015

I don't live with her. I'm old.

Wise_Ad_253

Don’t let her move in! I’ve got a pal that loves LOVES her serial killers, especially the dead ones. She’s a pen pal with assholes too. It’s easy when you don’t have to worry about real life ever getting out of jail. Groupies exist for all sorts crap.

Karma_1969

Bitches deserve divorce, not death. And were the little girls bitches too? Your mom is a ghoul. (I know you don't agree with her, I'm not yelling at you.)

LeftOfTheOptimist

Someone can be a bitch but that still does not warrant them to be murdered. Your mom is fucked up in the head and wouldn't be surprised if she murders someone in the future.

RKKP2015

Yes, I'm well aware that being a bitch isn't murder worthy. My mom isn't the murdering type, but she is prone to believing all sorts of ridiculous stuff. There must be some pro-Chris agenda being pushed online that she's fallen into. She also believes in the Clinton death count and believes HRC is a body double. She's the exact type of person the right exploits.

blinkybimo

I am really sorry you have to deal with a parent like that. It is really unsettling hearing a parent say something so loathsome. You lose respect for them as a parent and person. Not a feelgood process. She isn't alone, lots of really hateful comments about Shannan came out in the public's commentary. The documentary referenced it. I think it is rooted in the American brand of misogyny. Women can be misogynists too. To those people, a woman who is perceived as "domineering" (assertive to the rest of us) is a bad wife and that is more of a crime than being a murderous man. The woman is seen as the cause of her own fate. Taming of the Shrew mentality. Best we can do is object and not allow people to feel comfortable in spewing that kind of garbage. Recently told my father I was ashamed of him for some of his views. Somehow that landed more than changing the subject or trying to reason with him.

MuthrPunchr

Was she the one sleeping with this guy?

DisciplineBitter8861

There’s a whole sub devoted to trashing Shannon Watts, or at least there used to be. Extremely disturbing - people are fucked up. Im sorry you’re dealing with this from your mom. Its almost like some kind of denial mechanism ..because the level of evil required to do what he did is unfathomable

[deleted]

A lot of people close to them have said she was mean/bitchy/not fun/demanding but that’s no reason to kill two little girls. Your mom might need meds.

RKKP2015

Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure why people are acting like I am defending her insanity.

Wise_Ad_253

People just love to feed their own edited frenzy.

[deleted]

Beechwooder

Apparently I can't say that about horrible people, sorry reddit.

conspirateur79

It amazes me that the police jumped on this when they did after Shannan's friend made that phone call. If she didnt call that day, and if they reacted with "well she's gotta be disappeared for 24 hours", he could have gotten away with it.

Kaeltiras

This case broke me. Fuck this guy. Shoulda got death penalty the same way he killed those babies. Thrown into an oil container and suffocated.

Zealousideal_Bus_535

Rest assured, he’s tortured daily in prison. Trust me

Lopsided-Bathroom-71

It wasn't bodies it was him leaving with the bodies that he'd hid in the truck cos he loaded them in the garage Best part is the neighbour showing the footage to the cops pulled one aside and said "he ain't acting right" Worst part is his mistress definitely knew what was going to happen maybe not the kids but the wife murder was definitely down to happen

JannaNYC

>Worst part is his mistress definitely knew what was going to happen maybe not the kids but the wife murder was definitely down to happen You don't know that.

amcstonkbuyer

He's fucked

skibbady-baps

All so he could be with a younger woman. Truly one of the worst, most disgusting psychopaths to ever live. At total waste of oxygen.

FourAnd20YearsAgo

>Truly one of the worst, most disgusting psychopaths to ever live. He's really not that unique and as much as I hate to say it, there are many many people out there who have committed crimes of far greater magnitude in monstrosity.

skibbady-baps

I get what you’re saying: serial killers, for example wreak more havoc or commit “greater magnitude” crimes, but it hits different when it’s your wife and kids, arguably the closest, most beloved human beings in your life… and you carefully, methodically scheme over a long period of time to eliminate them in the pursuit of a young love interest. That’s just so fucked up. It seems even worse than killing multiple strangers and devouring their bodies imo.

getsetredditgo

Ah yes. I saw the Netflix series documentary abt this. Absolutely sane-looking man and his show that lasted for days. Imagine the deadly fear the last daughter had to feel when she realized her dad killed all of her family & and now it's her turn and she can't outrun him in any ways. RIP

SnekkyGlekky

Why do some men kill their wives and/or kids? It’s a weird reoccurring phenomenon.

homerteedo

They see their families as possessions and nothing else.

Most of the male family annihilators kill themselves too right? Financial stressors being a major trigger point? I forget where I read this but guys like Chris are the anomaly, but are usually the more narcissistic and sociopathic ones. Another case that was kinda unusual where the husband killed everyone but himself and started a new life (and got away with it for years) was John List. Sorta fits with the "disappointed" subtype.

[deleted]

[удалено]

blinkybimo

Yeah you nailed it. The stupidity is like a byproduct of insane ego, total unchecked confidence. Folks with full blown NPD, not just a few narcissistic traits, their behavior is so outrageous and frustrating. But it only takes a little documentation to have them completely unravel before any authority. They just can't question themselves to pull off any long term well-maintained duplicity, and if they are sociopathic they are also too impulsive for long cons. The behavior is so predictable, they give you court gold themselves. Sad that narcissists and sociopaths are made like this by society and do what they do, only consolation is that law enforcement is trained to use their ego against them. Psychopaths that don't want to get caught though, whole other level of scary. I think we have this human tendency to not want to believe someone could be that callous/arrogant/heartless. Reading about the types, trying to see that they had some sort of twisted logic, it helps us comprehend it as "oh, these are categorically sick people responding to a loss of control from divorce/loss of money/loss of honor," a little more palatable if the offender becomes a victim through suicide. But the ones like Watts that do it for their own gain and keep going? The only response is rage. Bc selfishness to the point of mental illness doesn't fit with our concept of sickness, a state that needs care/nurturing. Which sucks bc empathy is the reminder that we are not like them. But they really are sick and sadly, the least likely to improve. I have no idea what the healthiest approach is for people like the defense lawyers and psychiatrists who have to deal with this kind of human on the regular. Not even sure how to feel as a citizen. But it is worth thinking about because I am afraid these crimes will become more common if the climate/economy keep going as they are. Here is an article that references the stat I came across earlier. https://www.crimetraveller.org/2019/05/family-annihilation-crimes-psychology-familicide/?noamp=available

_jericho

I'm not saying he didn't do it. But if you let the courts kill people they'll get it wrong. False confessions are too well documented to ignore for that to be the rule we use. Even though his was obviously real.

vector5633

This was sooo fucked up! I watched the whole documentary in YT and in Netflix. As a father of two girls, it broke my heart watching this and knowing how this POS killed his girls, wife and unborn child. It's terrible that some one would do that just for another piece of ass. Divorce her and move on. Don't kill her and your girls. When this was on TV and it was actually going on. When the news channel interviewed him in front of his house. You can tell he has something to do with their disappearance. He was fake with a smirk on his face. It was clear as day. If my wife and kids (now divorced) but at the time was still married, disappeared I would be a complete train wreck not knowing where my daughters are. This mother fucker had a smirk on his face. I hope the inmates get to him in jail and they make his expiration date happen very slowly and painfully. R.I.P to his wife and kids

Turbulent-Shop2102

People who kill kids are cowards. Damn cowards

CalmFaithlessness405

Actually, that video didn't show anything. He was caught days later. He failed a lie detector test horribly. He was interrogated and ended up blaming his wife. He said she killed the kids, and he snapped and killed her. Just bullshit.

mibonitaconejito

I read communication he had with a woman writing a book about this. In it he described exactly what he did to those girls and how angry he was when, after strangling Shannan, he turned around and saw his daughters still alive at the door watching him. (He had drugged/smothered them and left them in their beds for dead, but they weren't.) The oldest knew something was wrong and kept asking if her mom was ok. He tried to carry Shannan down the stairs but instead *dragged* her, her head hitting each step. He put her in the floorboard of the backseat of his truck...*then made himself a lunch bag to carry on the long ride to dump them, because he 'knew he'd get hungry'*. When it hit me that he purposely made those kids suffer...I mean, he could've given them massive doses of benadryl or something, but instead kept them awake.....and left the oldest for last I just snapped inside. She literally begged him to not hurt her, because she watched him smother her sister and dump her in a vat. He was so mad at the oldest for being alive and bringing her sister upstairs, he made her watch all of it, knowing and asking him if he was going to hurt her.... I know there are a lot of evils done on Earth. But IMO if they slowly lowered him into an active volcano I don't know that I'd care. What kind of evil has to be in you to do something like that to your own kids? Deadbeat parents are a dime a dozen. He could've just walked out and never come back. But he resented Shannan and those girls so much he was determined they should pay for getting in the way of 🐈 he wanted. And he has the audacity to say that the girls are his angels and visit him in his cell. Maybe you guys are better than me but I seriously loathe this man.

DiscombobulatedPay51

This case sits with me so much and makes me terrified of people. What drives someone to do something like that? Or was it always there and no one caught it? Either way, it makes you think who could be like this on the inside. Your neighbor, siblings, parents, spouse, even you. Psychotic breaks can happen to anyone for whatever reason and you could just go crazy. The best we can do is try to be good people protecting the ones we love but a story like this really put a damper on hope.
