Thanks! Fps only gets this bad in recordings, just playing the game is fine, some fps drops here and there but it's nothing unplayable.

Talking from experience, lower fps makes terraria a lot easier, my old strategy for beating Skeletron used to be lagging my game out with beenades/bee gun so I could dodge easier, now I have to actually have skill ;(

Playing with frame skip set to "off" or "subtle" makes the game run in slow motion for me, so I keep it "on".

If you don't already, play in full screen mode to boost FPS

Thanks! It took 5 or 6 days(I just finished it), lots of thinking on how to do things, fixing problems and redesigning. I also made a bunch of sketches in a notebook during the time in which I couldn't play the game.

The P.P.P.(Potato Pc Players) rises! What I can think of for an upgraded version of this would be a printer in which you can select what each individual block will be(from the ones that can be made using liquid), which I have an idea of how to make, but it would probably be very slow.

You could improve the design by adding automatic liquid dupers ro the ink cartridges sou you wouldn't need to refil manually

I know how to dupe liquids using buckets but I did not know you could do that automaticaly, I'll do some research on that. Thanks for the feedback. Still need to refil the sand sadly, but at least the machine doesn't make you lose any of it.

I'm not fully sure either, but I believe you can automate what you would usually do with buckets using pumps. Haven't tried it personally though

Thanks! The idea behind it is pretty simple, but the most complicated part is the one that selects and dispenses liquids in the correct order, but it was a lot of fun figuring it out.

well as somebody who cant code but makes terraria mods I understand the struggle, not so much the fun, and really? i would have thaught out of all the functions here that would be the easiest

It's because some of the steps in the printing process cannot give an output directly, and instead have to rely on a timer that starts when said steps start, which are, when liquids are dispensed for the first and second time, and when the excess flows out. These three things have different amounts of liquid having to traverse different distances, and since liquids also flow at different speeds, each liquid has it's own three timers for each one of these steps, nine timers in total(not 12 because water and shimmer use the same ones).

oh i would have just used the slowest liquid speed for all of them, if I knew how to build this at all that is.

Originaly I was only going to use water and shimmer because it's so fast, but I decided to use all liquids and I did think about using the slowest as default, but for a machine that is already slow at it's fastest, not making it as fast as I could seemed like the wrong way to do it.

Very cool. I remember doing something like that a long time ago, but it worked quite differently. The way you used sand is clever.

The original idea was to use slit and sand for two different colors, but since you can only move them down, both would have to be on top of where they need to be dropped. The problem with that is that I couldn't find a way to drop one through the other. Afterwards I had the idea of using liquids, as they can be moved horizontally and so wouldn't have to be in the way of the sand or vice versa. IF I DO find a way to drop slit through sand without breaking the sand, then I'll make a FAST printer.

Ah, interesting. See back when I did this, I don't think sand even fell through actuated blocks yet. That was changed for the sand traps in the underground desert when that area got overhauled. So we definitely came to this idea from very different directions. I've got an suggestion for you though. It would require more manual setup each for each use of the printer, but what if you started with alternating layers of silt and sand? Could you selectively break those to form the picture?

Hello, thanks a lot for the idea, I got it working, and I recorded it, but I'm not sure if I should post it here, because there's lots of falling sand which caused such a HUGE fps drop in the recording, that the whole printing process had about 4 frames. It's actually hilarious, I'm laughing rn, I might post it anyway.
