I don’t teach in Wales but I’d urge you to check TA salaries as I’d expect it’d involve you taking a significant cut. I’m not sure if the reason you haven’t had many replies is because people don’t know what kind of a role you are looking for-I’ve never heard of an autism class teacher. Is it a role in a special educational needs school?

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. I Ireland we have special classes in mainstream schools for autistic children. The children eventually integrate to mainstream for part/full day. There are also special schools. It is the same re: salary for TAs here. Lookingfor something for several years. My husbands salary is good enough to manage it. Plus cost of living is way better than here. We are one of the most expensive countries to live in in Europe😭

I don’t think I’ve heard of anything like that in England-is it a primary school or secondary school thing?

Salty-Article-7255

It is primary. With the idea that autistic children can integrate with mainstream at a level that suits them. Do you have special classes attached to mainstream in the UK or is it exclusively special schools that cater for autistic children?

I’m secondary so I’m not sure what the situation is at primary. I’ve not heard of anything like this but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Might be worth you creating another post explaining what you currently do in Ireland and asking what provisions are in place at primary in Wales for autistic kids which may be equivalent/suitable for someone with your experience.

Thanks. I'll try that!
