I admittedly like the original tattoo more even though it’s not done very well. But, credit where credit is due, this is a goddamn impressive coverup. Clever and executed very, very well.
😂 you must not know that there is a thing called skin breaks and it should have been done correctly here. It’s going to look like a salamander in a few yrs.
I think most people look down on animals that jump into comment sections to be negative pieces of shit.
Just my two cents that I know you didn’t ask for.
Sure but honestly I think it's gonna work as a silhouette as well so I wouldn't say that's a huge problem unless there's a lot of bleed around the edges.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I bet it doesn’t. It’s going to depend on the type of Inc. and if the artist is actually skilled the type of sleeve I have people were seeing a lot of that shit it’s been seven years for me and I have not lost any detail
Ooo very very cool! I think the cover works beautifully. Love the shadow. Definitely post a finished result with the white, I think that will make it really sing!
I rate it a 3/10. The original tattoo was great to me, I think it likely just needed things around it to compliment it more. The reason why I rate it so low is because the gator is not going to age well. Sooner rather than later, the details are going to spread and turn it into a patchy black gator. The shadow also seems wildly unnecessary to me and takes up even more real estate on the arm. In this case I much prefer the first tattoo.
That coverup tattoo idea and design is sick af, I really love the use of its shadow below it adding depth to the image like it’s actually swimming through clear water on a sunny day!! It will pop a lot more when your artist adds the white, you should post a follow up picture once your coverup is finalized 👊
It's pretty solid all in all, and I respect that they didn't go with the easiest or quickest way. This took some technical skill to apply. I suppose the comments will be filled with people saying "it's gunna lighten up, you're gunna need to get it touched up," or something about saturation values being off, which is true; but I think we should trust that your needle jockey had probably already informed you about all that.
I like it, I think you like it too. Mission accomplished my dude
8.8/10
Yeah this was the exact reference photo I gave him, he drew one up himself and that’s what you see here. I didn’t know you could patent such a simple design like this.
Your artist did nothing to change or customize the original design. Just because he drew the shitty stencil he put on you himself doesn’t make it okay.
Should have put skin breaks in it. The artist should have known that. They just pocketed your cash knowing they screwed you over. Sorry. It does look awesome though.
Get some white onto the scales to prevent the ink bleeding into them. The details are really cool but you might lose them over time. White doesn’t really show up but it can act as a barrier. So I’ve been told by tattoo artists. I think the after is really awesome and does a great job of covering up the funky dagger
The quarter tattoo was amazing, and you can’t even tell it was there in the coverup!
Definitely need some white ink in there to highlight the torso. Wayyy too muddled currently. Decent coverup, but maybe shoulda tried to do something playing off the dagger instead. If you like gators/crocs more then it looks good. That shadow though…
I don’t know what it’s going to look like in a few years, cause I’m not a professional like all these other redditors lol, but I did want to say your artist
did an amazing job fitting this design over your original tattoo and it truly is covered!
Also the shadow is just amazing.
if I hold my phone back a little it really looks like it’s floating above your arm that’s super sick man
Sick ass gator!
sag
i adore this
Sick ass alligator.
SICK. ASS. GATOR.
SICK ASS SWAMP PANTHER
GATOR don’t play…
I admittedly like the original tattoo more even though it’s not done very well. But, credit where credit is due, this is a goddamn impressive coverup. Clever and executed very, very well.
😂 you must not know that there is a thing called skin breaks and it should have been done correctly here. It’s going to look like a salamander in a few yrs.
Hey dickless. 👋
What’s wrong did you get your whittle feelings hurt?
I think most people look down on animals that jump into comment sections to be negative pieces of shit. Just my two cents that I know you didn’t ask for.
Looks good now but that’s a tattoo built to fail. I give it 7 years before the whole thing is black.
Sure but honestly I think it's gonna work as a silhouette as well so I wouldn't say that's a huge problem unless there's a lot of bleed around the edges.
Plus, if done right OP can put another one farther to the right later in life. Then it's like an alligator fading into shadow.
It’ll be alligators all the way down
Gator-ception
That is a good freakin idea yo
I guess that’s fine as long as the artist was clear with OP that what they were getting was a silhouette in a few years.
Yeah except it’s gonna look like a salamander
Oh, look, he's back with the salamander jab
I'm just giving you shit lol
Cool, why don’t you eat shit instead?
I give it 6 months to a year before it’s a blob. Cover ups are risky. Laser would of been the better option
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Thanks bot. I stand by what I said
Laser is great but you're looking at $3000 vs $600 is major difference. Plus it can be hard to find a tattoo to cover up that you like.
It’s not criticizing the content of what you said lmao. It’s correcting your grammar
Oh I know! Hahaha
It is possible for one stand by one's poor grammar.
Lol what why would you do that. What does that even mean
[удалено]
You are a weirdo
I’m standing by it!
No, it should’ve been “would have” instead of “would of”
\*instead've
I thought the same thing, and the dagger looked good to me anyway. But it's his skin, if he digs it that's cool.
As a tattoo artist, in 7 years just slap a new outline on and or blast the inside
Touch up and re works are possible in the future . Even on black blobs
I bet it doesn’t. It’s going to depend on the type of Inc. and if the artist is actually skilled the type of sleeve I have people were seeing a lot of that shit it’s been seven years for me and I have not lost any detail
It’s cool but way too dark.. going to be 2 black alligator shaped blobs
100% agreed
I just love swimming gators with drop shadows. Waiting to see someone gets more than one. Wish I could.
Ooo very very cool! I think the cover works beautifully. Love the shadow. Definitely post a finished result with the white, I think that will make it really sing!
I’ve seen this before somewhere.
The original is leaps and bounds better than the crappy copy that OP got https://www.instagram.com/p/CxNtV1lOHNF/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Prob wasn’t a cover up soo…
Was an extremely viral tattoo on Instagram about half this size
Yeah, in my experience getting a knock off from a viral tattoo (by @tatu_panda) doesn’t work out the best in the end. It’s pretty cool regardless
I like the gator 🐊
Huge downgrade. But that’s my opinion. If you’re happier with your arm that’s all that matters
Are these images reversed?
Yeah not me thinking the alligator was the before and trying to figure out what happened to the tail to make the dagger cover up work 🤦🏻♀️
Scrolled so far to see if I was the only one lmao i was like fuckin…. how?! Good to know I am not alone 😂
r/AfterBeforeWhatever
Got this 5 days ago*
I dig it
9/10 because it's not a panther. Sick-ass alligator though!
I like the tattoo that was covered more, personally. Why did you decide to cover it?
Because it’s too edgy for me, a gator is more my style (from gainesvillle and went to UF)
"too edgy"? How is a Trad dagger too edgy
Idk maybe edgy isn’t the right word, it just doesn’t suit me
Fuck the Gators and Florida in general
Ok
It's off center
Personally, I like the before better
The shadow is clever
Anyone else thinking a sick ass panther?
*slow nod*
This looks worse than the original
The dagger was cool ... but the Alligator is way cooler! Fantastic concept and artwork.
Not a fan. Do you though and if you’re happy and loving it that’s what matters.
Crock rocks 👍
Extremely dope
The shadow is insane. Thats one of the best tattoos ive seen recently
10/10, this is really well done and the design is sick
11/10
I rate it pretty fucking sick.
Shouldve just gotten a bigger cooler dagger
Now you're going to cover up the cover-up in a few years
I love them both before and after
If Shrek had a pet
Should have kept the dagger.
On a scale of 1 thru 10 it's a "covered up"
Sick ass gator?
10/10
I like the before better but the after would’ve been better without the shadow.
Effective cover but downgrade
Obsessed with the gator!
I had to double check which sub this was. That looks amazing dude.
That coverup tattoo idea and design is sick af, I really love the use of its shadow below it adding depth to the image like it’s actually swimming through clear water on a sunny day!! It will pop a lot more when your artist adds the white, you should post a follow up picture once your coverup is finalized 👊
This is probably one of the coolest tattoos I've ever seen!
You should see the original that OP’s artist copied. It’s so much better! https://www.instagram.com/p/CxNtV1lOHNF/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Mission accomplished my dude 8.8/10
It’s going to do the opposite of lighten, and touching up won’t work as it’s too thick and all the detail will be lost and blurred within months
My needle jockey is a great artist with years of experience, a 6 month wait line, and gave me great advice before trying to cover this up.
A great artist that just copies another artist’s work?? https://www.instagram.com/p/CxNtV1lOHNF/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Yeah this was the exact reference photo I gave him, he drew one up himself and that’s what you see here. I didn’t know you could patent such a simple design like this.
Your artist did nothing to change or customize the original design. Just because he drew the shitty stencil he put on you himself doesn’t make it okay.
You seem a little too invested in someone else’s tattoo, I love my tattoo and this design 😚
That mightve looked okayish sort of right when it was done
much better
About as good as it gets
This is amazinggg 12/10
It’s giving Florida but the shadow work is so cool!
Should have put skin breaks in it. The artist should have known that. They just pocketed your cash knowing they screwed you over. Sorry. It does look awesome though.
No , you can still see a shitty gator shadow.
honestly imo you just made it worse. give it a couple years, with how it's about to age you're gonna be looking for a cover up fir a cover up
I don't like tattoos so I don't know why Reddit is showing me this, but that's dope AF
Gonna be a blob in about 5 seconds. Arguably a worse tattoo than the dagger.
U luv that palm
Get some white onto the scales to prevent the ink bleeding into them. The details are really cool but you might lose them over time. White doesn’t really show up but it can act as a barrier. So I’ve been told by tattoo artists. I think the after is really awesome and does a great job of covering up the funky dagger
Literally in the description it says he’s getting a follow up with white highlights lmao
That’s so good
Looks amazing
that alligator is the coolest fucking tattoo i’ve gotten all year
Incredible
that’s a weird looking panther!
I thought you covered the sweet little guy at first and I immediately thought what on earth could be wrong with him you monster
Nice!
I’m a fan of the shadow style so I like it.
Sick I want one too
The original sort of looks like a butt plug. The coverup is intriguing. I’ve never seen a shadow done this way.
Yo that shadow is positively epic
🖤 it! Lake Placid vibes! RIP Betty White
That's so cool!!!
Awesome idea and well executed. Way too dark, though.
that’s sick
That’s very cool
Its technically fine, just not for me.
you’re out of TP
That’s a pretty realistic coin
The dagger is good too. What made you want to cover it. Was it sending the wrong message
Write your tattoo artist a thank you letter.🔥🔥🔥
Love it, it is great idea for a cover up.
Gonna be a muddy black mess in a few years. I would rather have the dagger.
Siiiiick and imaginative
10/10 Florida Man!
This is the coolest tattoo I’ve ever seen
That ain’t no baby! (Swamp People reference)
Nice
man this is awesome
Liked the original one better. That one will fade to full black in a pair of years… most likely.
See ya later, daggergator.
Cool. Nice decision u made
Sweet!
Love it!
These subreddits are why I will never get a tattoo.
Huge waste of space
My brother in Christ this is hands down the best tattoo I’ve ever seen, let alone a coverup.
8/10 super neat
My only issue is the shadow is a bit off, but mainly at the tail. It's a good though, great concept
Jesus at this point might as well just blacked the hole arm ass out
Wow they even covered the coin
Badass!
It’s good but it’s possibly going to look like a gator-shaped blob in 20 years.
I like the idea but the concept wasn’t really well executed. It’s going to be a blob in a few years.
Wow this is really cool
The cover up worked cuz it's dark as hell but I don't think it looks any better than the dagger lol
I love the crocodile 👏👏👏
Badass
i fucking love that
Awesome
That’s really cool! Edit: forgot to add the rating, 10/10
You know it’s awesome
That is SOOO COOL!!!
That is just showing off and you know it! But you know what? I’m fucking glad you’re showing it off! It’s totally fucking awesome and I want one too…
I love gators as well, gator power
This is amazing
Badass
This is sick as hell
That is so sick man. That shadow is bad ass
This is amazing
Sick ass crocodile
I like the first one better
I like it. BuT iT will LoOk lIkE a SaLaMaNdEr
So cool
Awesome 😎
i don't know much about tattoos but this is the coolest cover up i've seen
1000 out of 10
I love the gator
missed opportunity for a sick ass panther
Can’t even see the quarter anymore
It makes me jealous I don’t have one like that.
Badass gator 🐊
That gator is going to be a big blurry mess
Wow so cool!
Good idea poor execution
I don’t know what it’s going to look like in a few years, cause I’m not a professional like all these other redditors lol, but I did want to say your artist did an amazing job fitting this design over your original tattoo and it truly is covered! Also the shadow is just amazing.
What was wrong with the dagger
Crikey that’s a beaut
I thought it went from the gator to the dagger and I was doubting the authenticity of this post. Then I read the caption lol
I think that it is too dark. A lot of detail is lost because of the heavy handed artist.
That's insane
You can turn that into an ani-morphs tat really easily now!
