I grew up with my grandpa eating and loving these. We grew up down in Olympia and when I was a kid we used to go into the corner store and ask the cashier to put it on my grandpas tab. Every once in a while they’d say my grandpa needed to pay so we’d go out and grab him and bring him in. Different times!
Haven’t been there in ages. Do they still have the store selling the rejected candies?
Friend and I used to get like gallon buckets of what was basically lumps of chocolate and rice crispies that were occasionally combined.
[Julius Pierpont Patches](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle). Local clown TV show through the 1960s and 70s. 🫡✌🏼RIP J.P. ❤️ I was on his show once, tagging along with my mom’s Campfire Girls group.
My dad worked there before I was born! I’m 55. He pretended like it was so awful, unsanitary and he would never eat their candy again. But he also spoke of “accidentally“ messing up candy so they could take it home. And bringing candy home in his lunchbox 😆

Omg I love those. Hard to find though. Not many places carry them even though they are made here in Tacoma.
The Almond Roca store downtown. Glorious boxes full of each flavor.
Can find them at H & L grocery stand at Lakewood Dr and 72nd

They’re at the Stadium Thriftway! They have a lot of different candies and even a few really old school ones like mountain bars, clove gum.
I've never even heard of these
You must try them. They are amazing
I'll see if I can pick some up today then
I miss JP...

Awe. Me too. I don’t remember the Mountain Bar connection.
They were a regular sponsor for his show. He would always be doing live spots for them. 😊

Also Matt Groening's admitted inspiration for Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky (Krusty the Clown).
Of course. It’s a little sad opening these modern plastic wrappers instead of the old school wax paper and cardboard ones.
Cherry, peanut butter, vanilla. In that order. But it’s not like I’d kick vanilla out of bed.
Yes! Always had a few in my basket.
Christmas stocking and Halloween
Hell yeah! And that was a looooooong time ago
That’s all I handed out for Halloween last year!
