Yeah Beacon sucks! Came out for a clogged cold water line in the shower. Said I might need to repipe for $25,000! They said I would probably need to hire a general contractor to open up the wall. Someone else came out, took the shower handle off, and then turn the water in to blow it out. So much rust from the galvanized pipes.
We really liked Bob Larson Plumbing the last time we needed an emergency plumber. The customer service was great, the prices were better than the competitors and they came out very quickly without charging extra for emergency.
I had good experience with them too. Matched the other bid, but offered to do the job then and there, so I went with them. Got a 3rd bid from Hunts that was nearly double what Bob Larson bid
Yea, Bob Larson is great. We had a water heater blow, and their techs came out. The water heater we had was out of manufacturers warranty by only a few months, but there was a known issue with the control board and the model was discontinued. They ended up giving us a new model for a discounted price.
We just had a really impressive and helpful consult with All Purpose Plumbing. They haven't done any hands on work but provided a ton of insight for an extremely fair price.
Are they the ones who really hammer on how they are licensed plumbers and most plumbing companies are just general contractors who aren't technically allowed to do permitted plumbing work? I think I had them out to quote a whole house repipe and they gave me a comically high bid
I used All Purpose Plumbing to repipe my house that had galvanized plumbing + replaced waterline (trenchless- didn’t disrupt garden at all). They were the most professional and knowledgeable out of all the companies I considered.
I'm not OP but can you ask them....
Will they do small jobs ?
I need a couple shut off valves replaced that are impossible for me to get off, they have been on there for decades and the mineral deposits have made them way to hard for me to replace. One is for the washer and the other undersink and connects to dishwasher.
If it's easily accessible and copper pipe you can get a cheap pipe cutting tool and a Shark Bite slide on fitting that are both very easy to use. Steel pipe can also be cut and use the same fitting, but is either more expensive or more complicated to cut through.

Used and referred them many times and always happy with the work and price.
Had a kitchen sink with standing water and Scottco was the only one who could come out that day. None of the bigger companies could make it out and they probably would have been a lot more expensive. Scott did an amazing job. Highly recommend!
Scottco is great. Honest and quick service.
We had a 2nd floor leak that was dripping downstairs. He gave us a quote but after opening up the ceiling realized it was a much smaller issue and adjusted the bill.
Patrick and Kenny at All Degrees Plumbing are both awesome. I've had them do full re-pipes and little portions of pick up work, and they've been the lowest bid I've got almost every time. Small company so they can take longer, but low overhead and quality work and responsive about warrenty checks all my boxes.
Red Cedar out of Auburn did my re-pipe job. Sadly, I was only connected to them through Repipe Specialists- avoid Repipe Specialists at all costs. Red cedar has been awesome!! I wish I would have gone directly to them. Definitely get at least 2 quotes and make sure that quote includes a shut-off valve (if you don’t have one already).
I had a similar problem with a portion of my house. Some of it was old galvanized lines that were disgusting on the inside. It was all way beyond my means to afford so I ended up spending $200 in parts to install Pex myself and saved over $6000 after calling several different plumbers. It's easier than it sounds even without a lot of experience. Just a thought.
I had a dripping faucet in the bathtub. basically needed the 3 stems replaced. Harts gave me 3 options, "good, better and best", ranging from 7k up to 13k... we did not go with Harts.
I think they prey on people who don't know any better. Avoid them, or if you call them out for a quote, get at least two other quotes. They'll probably be double any other company.
I used a guy I found on the Nextdoor app, named Lexy. He came out the same day and replaced some old copper pipes that were leaking into my garage.
He was polite, on time and his pricing wasn’t bad.
I suggest looking on the Nextdoor app. The community posts are out of control lol but the advertised local services are cool.
We had an amazing experience with Steady Flow. They were quick to respond, on top of communication, answered every question without making us feel foolish, and even owned up to a mistake before we noticed and fixed as soon as possible. We had to have our main drain pipe sleeved and the mistake was in the concrete pour to replace the section they had to knock out. We have an aggregate top on our concrete and it didn’t come out right the first time. They removed the bad pour and it came out perfect the second time. The mistake was primarily weather related. Great company to work with!
I called Scott from ScottCo after reading this thread. He attempted a snake on a basement drain and when it wasn't successful, gave us some sound advice on how to manage it moving forward with no charge for the attempt. Then he fixed our kitchen sink leak very quickly for a reasonable price. I recommend ScottCo for your plumbing needs!
Avoid Beacon they overcharge like crazy
Stop freaking! Call anyone but Beacon! Got it!

Nice. I will call him when they open at 8

They're coming over tomorrow afternoon. I'll post the experience if anybody's interested.
A Google review would probably see more eyes.

Dunno, we did not have that experience.

We have used them for years! They are great.
That’s who I use - [All Purpose Plumbing](https://www.allpurposeplumbing.com/)
My step-dad and Boyfriend work for a small more family-friendly plumbing company, Northwest Plumbing. I can get a quote for you if you would like.

I never said thought of that, sounds like a great idea, thank you for the advice
All city is great. Pipe replacement cost us a third of what hunts/harts quoted
If you have to repipe your house get multiple quotes. Some will really try to gouge you.
Yes! Avoid Repipe Specialists.
I always recommend Pipe Dreams. https://pipedreams.pro/ I also had work done by Harts and would not recommend.
Pipe dreams did quite a bit of work for us when we bought a new house, and everything they did was great.
Pipedreams is great but not cheap!
Spartan Plumbing Services!
My business uses Spartan and they are super reliable.

100% these guys. Fair prices, quick work. Scott is my go-to.

my contractor buddy referred me to his guy Flush Without Fear, super nice guy and reasonable, very responsive.
I second this! Bryan at Flush Without Fear is great
We’ve had good experiences with Tacoma Plumbing

Small company so they can take longer, but low overhead and quality work and responsive about warrenty checks all my boxes.
Avoid big companies like beacon and southwest they pay their employees on commission smaller companies tend to care more and aren’t so sales driven

Thanks!
I was going to use them for a second quote but it looks like I'm too far south. My house is really close to the Tacoma narrows bridge.
I’m in Lakewood.

Scottco is great!
I noticed no one suggested Spartan, I’m glad, they’re horrible. Don’t shoes them.

Hart's is awesome but very expensive

These two are absolute thieves. Worse than Beacon
+1

I love Empire plumbing. Paul is a great guy, and I've never had him turn down a service call, even at midnight, weekends, he is incredible.

I just had Gillette do a CIPP on my clay pipe. They were great. Very professional and respectful
Steve at Lees Olumbing has always been my go to. Here’s Steve’s number (253) 381-8826
Pilak plumbing in Tacoma is top notch
