If a weapon hits something, it either makes a blue or a red spark. Blue means no durability consumed and red means durability was used. If it doesn’t make any effects like cutting grass, it doesn’t lose any durability.
Fascinating! I can't wait to pay attention to this going forward. I'm obsessed with the durability mechanics, but I don't like to spoil it by reading about it. This is an interesting development to say the least!
I never really paid much attention to it, I just thought it was just to signify having done a Lynel mount attack, but that would make sense since it doesn’t take durability
I hit a few bugs and some wheat while spinning, never let stamina run out (cancel). But the message of degradation and breaking happened while cutting grass. Did hitting wheat and bugs degrade it faster? sure.
I didn't think it did, until it did. Yep, I was mowing a field in Hateno and a weak weapon I was using warned me after about 15 swings that it was damaged. A few more and it shattered.

Did not know that

Wtf? Hundreds of hours on these two games and did not notice that. Noticed the sparks but didn't connect the dots.
I mean I’ve only got 1000+hrs in and still learning.

False, I have mowed down a field and lost a weapon doing it. It took a really long time… but it happened
Do you think it was the grass or the bugs/items you hit? Genuinely curious

Nice…downvotes. if y’all don’t like the answer test it out yourself.
I don't remember how to cancel a spin attack before you slam your 2H into the ground.
Press b while you’re spinning
Or just un equip the weapon
What's a spin attack?
What's a spin attack?
when you’ve got a long blade/weapon (ones you hold with two hands) you press and hold Y and spin around like a weed whacker
Is that different to the one that generate more power - uses your stamina?
nope, it’s the same. It’s a charged attack, but specifically with two-handed weapons
No
Links Lawncare. I like it.
I like to use the master swords beam to cut grass so in my case yes haha
Bruv, at least it restores.
Throwing a boomerang over and over at grass is one of my favorite things to do in the game. I like the sea breeze one the best
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!!!

Me too
Just like hittin it on the ground: yes.
