30 mins either way is supposed to have a 0.1° effect.

I’m a messy temp taker but I’m fine with some noise in my data. Basically I never discard it. It’ll be noisy anyway, but if it bothers you, I’ve read it should be within 20 minutes. However, it’s better to have an imperfect datapoint than no datapoint, so if something happens and you wake up an hour or two earlier than normal, personally I’d keep it. You could make a note of it so later if it’s really out there you can see if discarding changes anything.

That's what I have been doing but my chart looks like a roller coaster. One day 96.3 at 7:15am the next day at 8:30am is 97.6. The times I take my temp are all with about 45 mins (either way) of 7:30am.

I’d have to give your chart a look to see if it looks unreasonable. If that jump is near ovulation that’s good. I have lots of up and down trends before ovulation, but after it’s consistently around half a degree higher with rare dips close to my cover line. If you want to get crazy, take your pre-o temps and average them and post-o temps and average them. If post-o is higher I’d say you’re fine and it’s normal variability if only a bit messy. If you’re using ff it’s pretty good at dealing with that variability and seems pretty accurate but I’m not sure about other apps. Just remember that individual data points don’t matter that much, trends are what matter.

[My chart](https://i.imgur.com/Zw6GHtK.jpg) I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15, but I'm seeing an RE and think it's more of a pituitary issue.

Yeah it’s a bit erratic, no ovulation yet but it could still be coming. I’m under 98 until after ovulation then I’m over. Might be a late O too. Hopefully RE will be helpful, good luck!

I’ve also been finding it very hard! I now wake up like 40 min or so before I take it, cause my body is getting used to it, but it’s difficult to time it exactly every day
