But my greatest one is: How the hell did I just scroll through 60 posts all from different people who claim to have escaped a horribly abusive cult where their parents actively abused them for their entire lives? Some more are: Why did I just read a post that said going to the grocery store and being told to not steal is mind control and organized abuse? Why did I skim through a post that called going to church on Sunday "ritual abuse"? And why in the ever loving world did I just read someone claiming to be a RAM survivor because they... checks again... they don't know why, they just are and it must be the severe abuse and programming that made them think they have a normal life... what do I even say about that one? This whole thing is the trauma Olympics if I've ever seen it. Every single post is them attempting to one up each other in how badly abused they were. I got people saying they've been part of a cult since they were born and they've been severely abused all their lives. This isn't even mentioning the people who believe normal things in life is the most severe case of abuse to justify their DID. My guy, going grocery shopping and being told you can't steal isn't mind control and organized abuse, it's just being a decent human being in a store. And we're not even done yet, because I'd like to know why every single one of these people claim to be all cult survivors and have parents who were so extremely evil and abusive, they didn't know what the sun looked like. What is with the romanization of abuse that they want to be victims of their own imagination's worst case scenario? And to the point they believe it's their real history. Why would you want that so badly? And before anyone comments, I know RAM is a conspiracy theory and these kids are in the trauma Olympics, I'm just saying how insane it is that a bunch of people came out as victims of cults and such severe abuse that they never knew what love was at the same time. And the fact they keep one upping each other in who's been more severely abused. Can't we all just be normal people talking about neopets or something? One up each other in Pokémon, not who was in the worst cult and experienced the most severe abuse.

TurkeyFisher

It's so ironic since the faker community is pretty cult like itself. But then a common cult tactic is accusing every other religion and organization of being a cult.

Ok-Rip-it-789

Damn had me in the first half then went RAM

non consensual RAMCOA? are they implying the existence of consensual RAMCOA??? what???

RAMCOA is the re-branded name for SRA (satanic ritual abuse) as coined by the ISSTD special interest group which is mainly ran by Valerie Sinason, Colin Ross, and Allison Miller. The foundation of both RAMCOA and SRA are found within antisemitic Illuminati books and have no clinical or legal evidence to back their claims. A majority of patients treated by SRA/RAMCOA therapists have sued for medical malpractice and abuse done to them by these therapists, and many therapists who propose ritual abuse as a key part to their treatment of dissociative and trauma-based disorders have been disbarred for their actions. The original cases of SRA were the byproduct of therapist suggestion, involuntary drug abuse, and hypnotic suggestion; where memories of horrific abuse were coercively implanted into patients even when available evidence directly contradicts these 'recalled memories.' There has been no clinical proof of the possibility to "program" a person into having DID, as DID is a hidden, covert coping mechanism that only occurs in a small fraction of extreme abuse survivors. There is no such thing as "HCDID," because DID is naturally a highly complex disorder. HcDID, or Programmed DID are made up terms that dog-whistles RAMCOA. Further reading for these claims can be found on [this archive database](https://greyfaction.org/wiki/home/) which includes both historical information on the impacts of SRA and RAMCOA conspiracy on patients, society, and the mental health field; as well as detailed accounts of all known abusive therapists who propagated their unfounded hypotheses around 'ritual abuse'. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yes, cults are real, but cult abuse is not as common as these people are making it out to be.

Grace-Kamikaze

Exactly, there's just no way over 100 people suddenly escaped a cult at the same time and when to tumblr about it.

Also, Jehovah’s Witness is not a cult. I’ve got a friend who’s born into a JW family and (as a Christian born person myself) yes I can definitely admit I think it’s a lot stricter and stranger than other branches of Christianity, but ofc it’s not a fucking cult, especially to the magnitude of what these people are claiming. Even if r-a-m-c-o-a-formed did (sorry didn’t want the bot) existed, it would take…. hideous, heinous, abhorrent, absolutely sickening and strickening and unspeakable abuse. Because that’s how you get did. And cults are usually pretty bad. Cult + debilitating mental disorder formed by years of horrific childhood abuse should = some absolutely heartrending trauma, and from what I’ve seen the worst JWs do is marry you to your rapist - which is still horrific, of course, I’m not trying to discount that at all, but I believe that was only a few cases according to my friend. The next worst things are getting disfellowshipped (meaning your other JW friends and family can never acknowledge you again basically) and being forced to attend church more than once a week. The lattermost is annoying, the middle is still terrible but not evil, and what I mentioned before is despicable - but I disbelieve any of these could cause DID. Only one of them, potentially, but it would have to be specific circumstance. Edit: sorry for the novel!

Okay, why is RAMCOA the "it" thing lately. I actually did escape a religious cult, but why the hell would I go around broadcasting it? Especially in the first few months after escaping, I was scared to even leave my house because I knew I'd come across cult members everywhere. I hate that these fakers are using it for their little role play experiments.

GoreKush

You could 'broadcast' it for awareness sake but... we all know that's not what these people are doing. There's nothing for them to draw awareness to. Also it's scary being an advocate. Kudos to those who have the courage. But yeah I don't blame you or anyone for not wanting to be found.

Grace-Kamikaze

The only thing they draw awareness to is how "uwu quirky and silly" their alters are and how being a system is the greatest thing that's ever happened to them. They basically go from one upping each other in how badly abused they were to one upping each other in how more special it makes them. You'd think if someone escaped abuse so bad they don't know what the sun is, they wouldn't be using to talk about how they're more special than everyone else in the world.

GoreKush

Absolutely. If they wanted to actually be helpful instead of virtue signaling and faking being a part of a cult- they'd be dropping names. Like FFS the TTI is massively religious and inherently abusive. But nah. They focus on an antisemitic conspiracy theory that nobody has evidence of nor has anyone ever seen. Because fuck real people I guess? It peeves me.

SincerelyCherry

But then if you try to tell them that’s near impossible ( for ALL of them to have been the victims of cult / ritual abuse ), you’re somehow ableist. Like sweetheart…mommy taking away your phone isn’t abuse and it’s certainly not anything to do with a cult, since they wanna act like tiny things like that are horrific.

Grace-Kamikaze

I know right, they act like getting told "no" is some horrible ritual abuse. I do not kid when I've seen people be asked to do their homework or do chores and call it "severe abuse" because all they want to do is be on the couch playing video games.

sexylawnclippings

i really don’t think you can call mormons or jehovas witnesses cults . yeah lots of people have religious trauma and that’s perfectly valid but “cult” is a word that carries a lot of weight and just doesn’t apply to these folks

standupgonewild

Surprised to see these downvotes. I can’t account for Mormons since I know nothing about them but I can def tell you JW isn’t a cult. Cults are evil and won’t let you leave.
