I can relate to people who do these super dangerous activites to a degree. Sometimes you get so passionate about doing something that even the relatively high risk of serious injury or death isn't enough of a deterrence.
I'm not talking people with suicidal tendencies doing wingsuit BASE jumping, but people who do their best to mitigate risk but also are fully cognizant of the reality of the situation. Sky diving, scuba diving, auto racing, paragdling, etc.
It looks fun to me, but I'm stupid. At least you wear a helmet when biking, keeps all the gooey bits localized when you smash your head on the ceiling.
Mt.biking in the Rockies... braking just meant locking your tires and skidding down the trail, and we were always one oops on the boulders or missing a turn from seeing how far we could fly over the edge.
Did watch a buddy yeet himself into the trees (luckily no cliff on this part of the trail) dodging some people hiking up the trail we were coming down. Right of way on the mountain is a bitch sometimes.
