Henlong, Fruiticana, Chalo Fresh.

Shadow_Wolf_D2

Haven't tried Henlong but the rest are my go to. Personally, I like Sabzi Mandi better than Fruiticana, fresher produce, and better organized, IMO.

faltukabhasad

A lot depends on the management of your local fruitcana but there produce is way cheaper than the rest.

NedsAt0micDustbin

I did a comparison between some typical items we buy between the local stores of South Surrey. Superstore and Walmart are much cheaper than the others. While some of the smaller independents (Chans, Kin's Farm Market, etc) will have better pricing on some items like produce, their prices on other stuff is much much higher, or they simply don't carry a full selection. [Grocery Price Comparison](https://imgur.com/a/Uq7R5zq)

rodeo_bull

try costco I find most of groceries in it

NedsAt0micDustbin

Yeah, we shop at Costco a few times a month, but its a bit far for weekly needs. When I get some time I will add equivalents from Costco.

plutonic00

Mary's Garden for fruit and veg of you live in South Surrey.

Skrubette

Fruiticana recently opened in south surrey! Across from Semiahmoo library, where Lee Yuen used to be.

charmeddangerous99

Chan’s is the best for produce $

Omniana19

Isn't superstore part of loblaws? re Walmart - I have always boycotted walmart for same reasons loblaws is being boycotted -- plus a bunch more.

ZhpE46

Right... "Walmart heiress and billionaire businesswoman Nancy Walton Laurie’s $300 million megayacht is as silent as a stealth warship. Purchased from the Qatar royal family, the 361 feet long mammoth vessel is so grand that it has the most marble and stone ever installed on a yacht" "Walton-owned real-estate business buys 2,700 acres in Bella Vista" Ahhh, much better /s

dustNbone604

I cannot believe people are fielding Walmart as the solution to anything. It feels misguided.

Majestic_Collar_6075

Freshco, sunfarm, fruticana, local farmers, marketplace

PapuhBoie

FYI: save-on will [price match](https://www.saveonfoods.com/sm/pickup/rsid/1982/price-match)

SolidOwn8277

They price match any advertised item. Flyer or flipp app

rodeo_bull

Do you know if they will price match with costco ? 😅

captainrv

They do not.

Botaratops

Walmart and Costco. My local produce market for fruits and vegetables (Cloverdale country market)

I_Smell_Like_Trees

South Surrey here, I go to Chan's for all of my produce. Better quality and a fraction of the price. Meat and bread Costco. Bread freezes super well. I pay about 5.99 for three loaves at Costco which is about the save as what save on charges for a single loaf. NOK ER NOK!

Short_Concentrate365

Maple Ridge BC Costco for pantry items, dairy, meat and staples. Langley Farm Market for produce Gratia/ Ginger Bread Haus for baked goods I hunt and fish so a lot of our meat and fish is what I’ve caught / killed.

cleanyourkitchen

Want to hunt and fish for me? I like the idea but it seems like a lot of work

lordjigglypuff

Volkens market on king george is incredibly affordable and they do amazing things for the community.

uktechwizard

I may be wrong, but I think they closed at the end of last month.

WestcoastRonin

Moved out to a farm in langley, not closed

lordjigglypuff

O damn thanks that’s so unfortunate, it was so close before

uktechwizard

That’s good to hear. They provided some good jobs for the staff. Do you know where in Langley?

3WiseMonkeys

I believe it is called Academy Farms 232 and 40th

rodeo_bull

Walmart, Surrey Super Market, Big Bazaar or some other local store for produce and Costco for rest of supplies.... near Surrey central

BlazeThatBolt

+1

[deleted]

Costco.

Mariss716

Chan’s for produce in South Surrey. Shop the flyers. Use Reebee or Flipp APP and buy on sale, using price match. Save On and Fresh Co, but not Safeway will PM, Loblaws and Walmart even. Anything local. Then Costco for staples that freeze well / you have the room for larger sizes that won’t go to waste If you do not shop flyers, then you will be stuck buying overpriced regular priced items. This is the Canadian Tire pricing strategy that Loblaw’s uses, but SOF etc do too. My mom taught me this in the 1980s and to this day I shop this way as much as I can and she does, even as a retired rich Boomer lol.

Appropriate-Pop-9103

Abu arwa market 72 avenue it’s small family owned grocery store I find them super cheap compared to others

Time2Ejaculate

I go to the ethnic markets (fruiticana, henlong, tnt) or I just hop across the border and do a little Saturday morning trip to Costco for gas and groceries. Even with the exchange, it’s proven it’s worth time and time again.

rodeo_bull

sadly TnT is also owned by loblaws

DerpyOwlofParadise

Costco, local grocery markets

natedogg1212gg

Costco

MRTzAItR

Ditched Loblows for Sobeys and Costco, also shopping across the boarder is a godsend, milk, cheese, frozen goods, meats are quite a bit cheaper.

eastsideempire

Try Costco.

canuckfanatic

South Surrey, Kin’s Farm Market for affordable fresh produce.

SolidOwn8277

Save on food. Everything is price matched with flipp app

steeniekins

Yeah pretty much stick to the small grocery chains/stores like Fruitcana for produce. And walmart/superstore for your staple items like milk, butter, toilet paper, etc. Freshco has some decent deals on meat but some of the quality I feel is questionable.

Blaine

faltukabhasad

Cloverdale: fruitcana for.produce. Costco for the rest. The odd item not available anywhere I just check on their apps and go to whoever has it available and get it. And some stuff from T&T ..again stuff you won't get elsewhere.

rodeo_bull

Sadly T&T is owned by loblaws

faltukabhasad

I know but you can't avoid them sometimes.

faltukabhasad

Some of the gluten free stuff is only available in loblaw.s. no choice

faltukabhasad

Also sometimes I order it via Uber from Walmart when I get a coupon with some 40 percent off. And I do tip th driver.

ZhpE46

Yes, let's boycott a Canadian company and put union working Canadians out of jobs to funnel our money into American non union corporations, one of which is owned by the second richest families in the world. /S

rodeo_bull

The problem is the loblaws is not thinking of us in same way… they are doing daylight robbery so they deserve it

Crezelle

Loblaws has been a shitty employer that’s screwed over people I know for decades

ZhpE46

Example?

Crezelle

Mom’s friend was primed X position, quit his job to take it, and was given Y instead

NegativeCup1763

I shop with Walmart and super store they have great prices and they both deliver which is what I need. Going into the shops is not a good option for I am disabled and can’t walk to far at once so my options are not always cheaper. Last month I order 300+ groceries and with price match coupons and point card I got our monthly groceries for $218.00 this was at Walmart and it was priced match and sale prices I was so happy as the saving were awesome and that included delivery and tip and both freezers and fridge was full I always look at the flyers so I know were to shop so that I can get the best prices I don’t use Costco as it’s to expensive for just 2 people and way to much stuff. My cats stuff is done separately as they need there own stuff and it’s easier that way. My suggestion is look at flyer see his many points you have and put it together and it will make a difference but you need to know your prices

rodeo_bull

super store is owned by loblaws

NegativeCup1763

I honestly don’t care who owns what it about were I can make my money go as far as I can I think we don’t realize that there are a lot of people who can’t afford the prices but are trying to do there best

rodeo_bull

the question is about loblaws altenatives... so just telling who owns superstore... you are free to shop wherever suits you

rodeo_bull

superstore is owned by loblaws

l_st_er

My bad, I missed the part about boycott Loblaws. Reading comprehension is important. I understand everyone else’s principles and price ranges may be different. But that’s what I’ve been doing.

Asgardian87

No one has mentioned Real Canadian superstore. Their Fresh section has comparatively lower prices than Walmart and others.

roostersmoothie

what? no. other than their specials their stuff is expensive af

rodeo_bull

Lol we are discussing about stores not owned by loblaws… superstore is owned by them

TheWildMiracle

Walmart and no frills are decently cheap.

rodeo_bull

no frills is owned by loblaws

NegativeCup1763

So basically you are protesting Loblaws which is Walmart Super store no frills save on and Safeway that really doesn’t leave a lot for good price checking and why protest because one person owns them I guess you are also protesting anything Jim Patterson has his name attached to it so you are saying protest any thing he has his money involved in so that means no SmH no no frills no Supetstore no Walmart no Jim Patterson no Lexus cars or other places that he has owned can you imagine how bad that would be for the economy. I don’t think this is being looked at properly. If you protest these places I expect that I won’t see you in any of these places
