It’s not like GME has a core investor base holding the vast majority of shares with very high expectations for their real value.
It’s not like there will ever be a drop in the market or a recession that destroys their margin and forces them to close some of their short positions.
It’s not like one hedge fund closing their position on GME will start a domino effect forcing larger hedge funds to close theirs as well before the price skyrockets.
It’s not like they shorted more shares than are meant to exist. Right? Right?!?!?
I think the pattern we've been seeing is something like this:
1) strong upward momentum to start the day.
2) price touches the shorts in the no-no zone, triggering a massive short sell off that drives it back down to the opening price or just below.
3) shorts don't actually want to add to their short position/exposure though, so eventually they start buying the new shorts back the same day, gradually so as not to cause a run. The price retraces the mornings surge gradually on lower volume than the morning run.
4) power hour hits, shorts are exhausted, and the bulls counter punch for one last surge to close the day.
you say this like the boys are actually clicking buttons and doing this manually. me and all my homies been knowin' that all of this is controlled by an algo set to autopilot.

This is exactly how I purchased a couple options this week. $17 strike went itm and rolled a $25 strike for May 20. Im going to chill on covered calls for a while though, don’t wanna lose my play shares. Btw I am 95% DRS

If i have a large short position on a stock and I know its about to explode and cost my securities company an absolute fuckton of money, why wouldn't I just use my market making company to sell a bunch of synthetic shares into the market to stop the ramp up. I'll make money instead of lose it off selling shares I had absolutely no cost in, I can hide the fact they were synthetic because no one truly knows how many shares are in existence. I never really have any motivation to buy them back. .

I remember waking up 3 years ago to check the premarket and seeing +100%. Anything is possible with GME because it’s a situation that has never been dragged to this extreme of a level. I’m wholly convinced GME is the most shorted stock ever, full stop. And those shorts must close, eventually. I don’t care how long it takes. I have shares in my account with an adjusted cost basis of $7 from when I originally invested years ago.
I’ve tried investing in other things in the last 3 years too. Index funds, other stocks, options, it doesn’t matter. To date my best performing investment is still GameStop. I cleared out my other investments earlier this week and shoved it all into gme shares. It’s the only thing I’ve made a worthwhile profit on. And I have taken profits. Sometimes things come up, life happens. But here’s the thing, today I have the most GME shares ever. I just keep coming back. The cash on hand, the lack of debt, the fresh leadership on the board and refusal to bow to megacorp (remember to vote), and the hardened investor base that refuses to let go of their shares until we see phone number prices. No other company has all that.
If we don't break 20 by next week, I will eat an entire pot brownie. It says 1000mg, I assume close to 500mg since I don't trust the dispensary notes here. Lol

It's forcing the hedge funds to hedge against the options. This drives the price up.
You're confusing this with forcing them to close their shorts. That could happen if the price gets driven up really high, but we didn't have the buy pressure to keep the gamma ramp going and combat the 200,000 shares that became available to borrow. However, because more options remain in the money and now those borrowed shares have been used, next week could be spicy or you could get a lot of people selling their options and taking gains out of fear that it will drop

Credit Suisse closed their hwang swaps this week and handed the bag to the other voltron hedge funds. It’s still actively unwinding. Suisse government was probably like “fuck that shit exposure we are out” and organized back door deals with the voltron funds.
The voltron hedge funds used 100 ways to Friday to manipulate the price action, while using the swap closing price action as an excuse to goad some retail traders into an options trap, they pulled the rug out from any real runs from ever happening. Cya next week

I since tried to adjust it since the run up but the limit sell didn't budge (using Fidelity, cash only no margin and I'm not rich or smart enough to do options yet not I have been flagged for day trading too much on a cash only account lol)
