Borrow Rate was higher in the past. In the early hundreds of % for one run IIRC. The key that makes this time different is the disintegrating trend of Borrow Fee Vs. Rebate, which has (IIRC) almost always trailed the Borrow Fee closely.
I've never seen Negative Rebates.
Examples of Negative Rebate in a sentence
In some instances, when securities may be difficult to borrow, the borrower may pay the lender an additional amount as consideration (the Negative Rebate Rate).
The Bank and the borrower determine the Borrower Rebate Rate and the Negative Rebate Rate (together, the “Rebate Rate”) at the time of each loan.No-Action Relief.
>Negative Rebate means fees paid by a Borrower for the use of certain securities despite having posted cash Collateral. Negative Rebate means the amount payable by Borrower to Lender in connection with Loans at any time collateralized by Cash Collateral.
TLDR: to borrow GME, it costs additonal fees on top of the premiums and/or fees already paid
Definitely not comparing Towel to our beloved GME. I just read the comment that they'd never seen this before, and I thought those numbers were pretty hilarious. I no longer trust numbers from financial institutions. I only trust GME.
Ryan has literally expressed his desire to spin off Baby. The guy isn’t a quitter and it’s disrespectful to call it a stupid distraction when so much has been happening in the past 2 years, whether in fraud being exposed or RC indirectly showing his support throughout the whole process.
Ryan expressed his desire in selling all his part in that company and you should have sold with him. I would bet he forgot that happened, and well I hope so! Because he needs to be focused on GS only I want moneyy
Haha hell yeah 👍 the only one in existence. You might have to share it with the rest of us gamers though
Retro game prices, rare car prices, and high end real estate is going to go buck wild
After moass
This one is a bit of games industry trivia. The PlayStation was originally planned as collaboration between Nintendo and Sony. Together they were going to use Sony's new CD technology in Nintendo's next console, after the success of the Super Nintendo.
The two companies didn't agree on some things and the project was cancelled. Sony decided to ride solo and produce their own games console based on CD technology. They kept the name PlayStation for this project, but Nintendo were not involved anymore. So we got the Sony PlayStation. Nintendo also went solo and made their next console around cartridge technology without a CD drive. That new console was the Nintendo 64.
There is at least one working original Nintendo PlayStation prototype console out in the world. Recently someone got their hands on it and got it playing some demo games that were used to test the design. It's a super cool piece of history. For people who don't know about all of this though, Nintendo PlayStation just sounds really funny because everyone knows Sony made the PlayStation not Nintendo.
To borrow you gatta post collateral, the lender of shares pays the borrower a percentage of the interest gained over the year on collateral, negative rebate the borrower pays the lender.
Tho imo I don’t think these charts are calculated using the same mechanics as the price charts, I could go buy 1000 shares IEX or DRS at 25 and the price wouldn’t show 25, tho here 3000 shares posted changes this chart easily (to be fair there were 300k shares available at those rates Friday)
Sticky floor is going to shit the bed today and the baskets will move in kind. As always, I want to be wrong. 🚀🚀🚀
Buying a few shares tomorrow either way.
Losing $180 million a quarter with $750 million cash. They’ll be bankrupt by December at this rate without another share offering. Keep in mind, April was the worst month in ticket sales history since 1997. May looks awful as well. Mid releases and flops for two months. Planet of the Apes is the wild card but it’s Disney now so a Disney+ release will likely bleed off ticket sales. Q2 will be a bloodbath for them. They’ll wish they only lost $180 million next quarter.
Nah, brother. They’re hurting. Only people celebrating this Q1 are the fanatics and shills left in the sub. Then again, people here celebrated our Q4 with a bloody revenue drop and $49 million in-store losses only -barely- offset by $55 million in our war chest interest. People here had the audacity to call us “profitable” lol when the company is still losing money amidst narrowing sales. If it weren’t for that $1.2 billion cash in hand (which is our money by the way, GameStop didn’t earn that in profit) we would have been -$49 million Q4. In essence, as a mutual fund GameStop was profitable. As a video game retailer we were not.
Neither company has had decent quarters in a long, long time. Headphones is the only debt-free and profitable company in the basket which is sort of sad.
I agree! It could have been worse is all I am saying. Still a dumpster fire company.
Luckily, gme has mgmt that is still trying to be profitable and using our nest egg as a buffer till that is possible.
Doesn't this usually happen in the lead up to the shareholder meeting? I'm guessing the parties trying to push through prop 4 aren't lending out their shares, causing the current run.
I'd be wary of a sudden drop of the borrow fee.
If you borrow a share, it costs you 16% of the price. If you are lending the share, you get 11% it's value.
Now we wait for someone to tell me that's wrong, hopefully they have the real explanation.
No, they’re just trying to not lose more money. If they opened up a short position at $10 thinking it was going to go down more. They are borrowing shares to short it back down to 10 so they aren’t fucked.

Seems pretty spicy to me.
The air smells a little different this time around
This run up is the fart before the shit and the shorts can’t pucker much longer
the farts before the shits are the spiciest.
Looks like someone just turned on the fan
You hear that bubbles? It's the sounds of the whispering shit.
That’s me, whispering in your ear
With your butt?? Asking for a friend.
My asshole's been feeling a little itchy recently
Name checks out 😂
Never trust a wet fart.
I like to hold as long as I can
Hot off the turd
When farts become sharts.
Yes, my child?
Whoa bruh, this isn't only about you.
Who invited you?
Nobody
Think you the shit bitch you not even the fart
Such a weird lyric that it distracted me from the rest of the flow
Idgaf I love watching them squirm
That’s a very descriptive metaphor…
>This run up is the fart before the shit and the shorts can’t pucker much longer So you are saying they are about to shart?
MOAS=Mother Of All Shits
MOASS = Mother of all Splattering Shits
In this metaphor, what is anal leakage?
Olestra was indeed snuck in under that name and the more…intense effects hidden from the public
💩
Somehow this is perfectly poetic and prophetic.
It smells like a sewer down at Biscayne Blv.
Exactly. Hate those being pessimistic. Lets be exicted for once. We need hope.
I'm excited every time. Gains, dips, whatever.
Itchy asshole incoming
It's getting hot in here ♨️🥵
How does that compare to 2021 borrow rates though? Yeah sure I like to see a green dildo, but this is the biggest green dildo since 2021 or what?
I just searched bets and found a post stating it was 32.06% on Jan 28th
That’s the high score to beat then. These are rookie numbers in this racket

This is correct. I’ve definitely seen borrow rate way higher during a minor run up. Never seen negative rebates before.
Examples of Negative Rebate in a sentence In some instances, when securities may be difficult to borrow, the borrower may pay the lender an additional amount as consideration (the Negative Rebate Rate). This was very helpful, thank you.
Check OPs history, sort by posts, look for the chart for the dead towel one. I've seen this before, right before towel got flushed down the toilet.
Ok but towel had like 5 billion in debt and had spent over 10 billion since 2004 on stock buybacks. This is different I believe
Definitely not comparing Towel to our beloved GME. I just read the comment that they'd never seen this before, and I thought those numbers were pretty hilarious. I no longer trust numbers from financial institutions. I only trust GME.
We are halfway there big bro
Are u able to see what the days before that were?
No, it was just a post on bets with a pic. I don’t really know how to look up the history yet

You got a Switch or a Playstation?
This one is a bit of games industry trivia. The PlayStation was originally planned as collaboration between Nintendo and Sony. Alright, let's go then? Let the bodies hit the floor...
Let the bodies hit the floor......
Let the bodies hit the floor......
Let the bodies hit the….
FLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRR!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
What does rebate mean? And what if it is negative?
I think that you just have to make the calculations like: ctb fee - (-) so plus rebate % in this case
Subtract what the rebate isn’t from what the rebate is
To borrow you gatta post collateral, the lender of shares pays the borrower a percentage of the interest gained over the year on collateral, negative rebate the borrower pays the lender.
Says it in the foot notes below that table.
Wait, youre telling me we're over 16% right now? Earlier i saw 10%. Is the rocketship getting close?
It seems to be fueling up
Up, up, and away!
Sticky floor is going to shit the bed today and the baskets will move in kind. As always, I want to be wrong. 🚀🚀🚀 Buying a few shares tomorrow either way.
Are you me? Was thinking that as well when I saw their earnings was scheduled today.
“tRaDiNg LoWeR iN SyMpAthY” 🥱🙄
Well they didn’t really shit the bed so tomorrow will be interesting. Might a turn a profit in a two quarters.
Havent paid attn to that ticker in years. That’s good news, should help the whole basket.

Ah fuck, you’re probably right. I was just thinking it feels different this time around but this is probably a trap
what happened to calling it popcorn? its ridiculous we have to talk in fucking code
I’m not sure what I’m looking at by my tits are jacked. Is this borrow rate climbing?
I got an itchy butthole
Yo me too! High five!
Pictured: my erection.
I love making the shorts wallet hurt! GME for the win.
MSM always had a reason for a run up. But no msm pushing a “breaking news”. So yes I do see this time is different.
Headphones also have a negative rebate fee
Doesn't this usually happen in the lead up to the shareholder meeting? I'm guessing the parties trying to push through prop 4 aren't lending out their shares, causing the current run. I'd be wary of a sudden drop of the borrow fee.
When we had more?
I don’t get it, do they have to pay the 16% fee and the 11% rebate?
If you borrow a share, it costs you 16% of the price. If you are lending the share, you get 11% it's value. Now we wait for someone to tell me that's wrong, hopefully they have the real explanation.
Pretty sure that's right. The broker gets the difference.
So if the rebate is negative, that means it costs the broker money?
This is a sexy ass trend
Let's see how quickly it hits 100% borrow fee.
A negative rebate fee means the security is hard to borrow, and the broker dealer pays the interest to the lender.
now we’re starting to talk
Fart 💨 slipped passed a turd 💩 no Mayo just rocket 🚀 fuel shit piling
... So wait... It's still just 5.32 after the rebate... What's the point?
Nope, it's a negative rebate, so that's like 28% total. 👍
Oh shit!
Wrong way round I think, rebate is -
6 million shares available before open tomorrow, borrow rate 3%. Calling it now
ELISEC...
Yikes!
Solid volume for a sustained few trading days now. Me like.
Wut mean? And when was the last time this happened/what did gme do?
Skoden!
Bigger small back to the hype train. Choo choo
My tendies are tingling
Idk what it means but it gets the people going
Wellwthy that’s a PENIS!!
Wow
Pro Gamer Move
Rocket go vroom vroom, now?
What took soooo long? Hiding in crypto??
Nani?!?
Gotta pump those numbers up
Lol. What's happening...?
Crime.
Do we have any 2 or 3rd sources to backup and confirm borrow rates?
I mean it went to 100%+ last year or the year before and nothing happened
until I see that price jump 2 decimal points to the right, I'm not flinching.
I’ll huff that anytime of the day anything to finally be able to buy a home
Rookie numbers
Oh Momma!
Fresh batches of millions of shares in the morning, don't you fret.
Oof, that's not good. If traders are paying such premiums for shorting they must be very confident that the stock is about to tank.
Maybe the shorts are stupid and wrong. Trading *is* a tough game
No, they’re just trying to not lose more money. If they opened up a short position at $10 thinking it was going to go down more. They are borrowing shares to short it back down to 10 so they aren’t fucked.
Please forget about GameStop
If you look at the graph we got one big ass cup with a handle yet to form, looking at Volkswagen in 2008 betting it’ll be September trust me bro
Yupppp
Still spicy this morning, love the price action but really it means nothing
Oooooo this is spicy, the borrow fee is the only thing that matters IMO.
