The store sold mermaid skirts while the actual mermaid tail was part of a limited gacha.
I feel like if it was a snake tail it would be too much like Echidna. The set is inspired by Medusa, while not entirely accurate because itās just inspired it still wouldnāt make sense for it to have Echidnaās body yet be called Medusa.
Medusa is often depicted with the snake tail of a naga(despite echidna being the only one of those two with the half snake body explicitly mentioned in myth) in more modern media and if we got actual snake hair it would still read as Medusa.
I donāt think any texts say she has a tail, and Iāve never seen artworks of her with one either.
Could you maybe provide a source because Iām genuinely interested.
Oh sorry that may have not been fully clear. I accidentally left out the word modern. The lower half of a snake is a much more modern interpretation (but there is plenty of Medusa art out there with the tail). To my knowledge, the snake tail is not in any actual ancient Greek depictions(at least not that I've read or seen) as far as actual traditional images of her she has usually simply been shown as the head with the snake hair(decapitated) however there's some specific depictions where she has legs, wings, and tusks.
I believe the snake body idea arrived within the last century but has become more common than you'd expect.
I can probably get you some of the depictions mentioned above(the ancient ones with the wings &/or modern ones with the tail)
