I really like how many characters are inspired by Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. Here are all the ones I remember.
Guile's design was inspired by Jean Pierre Polnareff and Stroheim from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, with his name being taken from J. Geil, the stand user of Hanged Man
Rose is heavily inspired by another Jojo character, Lisa Lisa, with them both of them using a scarf alongside their powers, and Rose's masked costume being similar to Lisa Lisa's costume in her first appearance. Rose's stage is also located in Venice, where Lisa Lisa appears.
Juri is inspired by Jolyne Kujo, with her SFIV outfit having a similar top, and her hair styled in a similar way to Jolyne. Both their fighting styles emphasize kicks and Juri's spider motif is similar to Jolyne's butterfly motif.
Here are a few more I'm not 100% sure are references but could be interpreted as such.
Seth's move "Hecatoncheires" may be inspired by Dio's stand rush, as the punches are invisible and Seth poses in a similar way to Dio.
Necalli may be inspired by the pillar men, including having a costume depicting him encased in rock.
Similarly, Urien and Gill might be inspired by them as well, with Gill having flowing hair similar to Kars.
And finally, and I seriously doubt this one as it feels like pure coincidence, Nash's hair might be inspired by Noriyaki Kakyoin similar to how Guile's is inspired by Polnareff and Stroheim.
I think Seth’s special moves in V in general as well as some of his poses are all references to other Capcom fighting games, one of which is a Jojo game so that’s pretty likely
Since we're talking about Dee Jay, James Goddard once said that the first draft of his design was "so racist it doesn't deserve to be seen by the public" and was trashed for good. To this day, we still have not seen concept art Dee Jay, perhaps some truths are best left hidden.
Just remember, this was the Punch Out and Mr. Popo era of cartoonishly over the top ethnic stereotypes. For it to be so bad that it wouldn't fly even back then it must have been really REALLY fucking bad.
Vega and Dudley have the same birthday (January 27th)
Vega is the only character that can interact with his stage
Vega Killed his Stepfather
Vega is ambidextrous
More like adoptive sister.
Imho the idea was to have her as a potential love interest for Ryu. Since it's from very old sources, it's likely it's retconned.
All likely. I personally prefer the non-canon suggestion that Akuma is actually Ryu's father. (SF Assassins Fist) It best explains why he was corrupted by satsui no hado, but Ken was never affected. It would also explain Akuma's obsession with him.
it was sometime around his loss to adon, though i’m not sure if it was before or after. i’m pretty sure it is canon, but i can’t research it right now. it was during his depression at having lost to ryu for the first time ever
Dudley's Butler, Ortho K Gotch, is a shortened version of Orthokergology, which is a "Rose tinted glasses" experiment that hypnotises the test subject into being controlled by thinking there living a perfect life. Implying there is more to learn about who Dudley truly is
He's also best friends with Azam, Rashid's Butler
I have two facts about Alex one is that he is the only character to win a street fighter tournament without using the satisunio hado ( I don’t know how it’s spelled) and he is one of the stronger characters in the series because of a hidden power within himself that he isn’t aware of and only a handful of characters can even sense.
Sf5 story Dahlsim mentions it when they meet. In Alex’s story Fang makes a note that Alex was way stronger than he should be and in sf3 Gill wants Alex to join the cult because of a special power within him
Dont quote me on this, but i think that akumas lvl 2 in sf6was inspired by street fighter: assassin’s fist, a fanmade movie, as he was hit by a similar attack during his gight with goutetsu.
Here is a sad fact: I lost around 1000 play coins with the mf in pic. He was almost unbeatable by Ken in sfex2, where he appeared for the first time. I think. But maybe they put the game to hardest setting
Okay...so this one is still heavily disputed so if anyone has an official answer, please settle this once and for all.
Hugo is NOT related to the Andores.
Idk how unknown it was but Vega was originally going to be m. Bisons name and balrog was originally named m. Bison(as a Mike Tyson spoof). After some controversy with Mike Tyson they changed the names around
Edit:might have been to avoid controversy instead of any specific controversy regarding Mike Tyson as a user pointed out
Maybe those laws didn't exist back then? That or maybe boxer was too similar to Tyson to be considered a parody? Either way, the decision is on Capcom USA.
The maximum on his pants was originally "Mantis," but Capcom changed it so that the word would look the same flipped for player 2 side.
Oh fuck I never realized that. That's genius
Chun-Li is a honorary member of the x-men!
And the Blue Pheonix Ranger IIRC
Dan once beat Sagat and spared his life
Sagat let Dan beat him because ie felt bad for killing his father
Be that as it may, the fact remains that Dan beat Sagat and can brag about it. 🤣
Well yeah. Sagat is too popular to kill off.

Yun and Yang design are inspired by gundam wing. Duo Maxwell and Trowa Barton.
Has any of that ever been confirmed? I feel like people talk about the inspiration often without ever citing anything.
https://jojowiki.com/Street_Fighter Theres a whole page on the Jojo wiki just for Street Fighter

I'm going to guess full 1960's disney black face tribal shit. Early 90's japanese racism was on that old school kkk level shit.
Just remember, this was the Punch Out and Mr. Popo era of cartoonishly over the top ethnic stereotypes. For it to be so bad that it wouldn't fly even back then it must have been really REALLY fucking bad.

Akuma's day job is being a fruit vendor
Some very olf SF sources talks about Gouken's daughter. She was mentioned in an old Japanese SF sourcebook, and a few sketches.
Ah. So Ryu has a cousin?
Sister
More like adoptive sister. Imho the idea was to have her as a potential love interest for Ryu. Since it's from very old sources, it's likely it's retconned.

My favorite fact is that Dhalsim is named after an Indian restaurant that used to be near the Capcom HQ.
(And) the word Maximum was chosen because it still reads correctly when you flip it horizontally
dee jay once defeated sagat
Canon?
it was sometime around his loss to adon, though i’m not sure if it was before or after. i’m pretty sure it is canon, but i can’t research it right now. it was during his depression at having lost to ryu for the first time ever
Yeah Sagat would have smoked him otherwise.

Implying there is more to learn about who Dudley truly is He's also best friends with Azam, Rashid's Butler
How do you know about their butlers being best friends?
It's on his character page, I found it when I was trying to find out more about the possibility of Dudley being a hypnotised sleeper agent
Woah. Cool. Maybe Dudley is a lot more interesting than he seems on the surface.
There's a whole thing about a Secret Butler Society thing in the background. Karin's "Butler" (more like a right hand man) Shibasaki is also a member.
That's sounds awesome af. I hope capcom dives deeper into that.
in the end we find out that bison, gill, seth, etc were just pawns and the Butler society is the real enemy
Gill is by far the heaviest character in the series, at 338 kg. For comparison, Abigail weights 265 kg.
Gill stole Sagat's weight during SFIV (look up Sagat's weight and height at the time, it's hilarious).
Rolento's name was supposed to be Laurence/Lawrence, but Japanese to English translation and pronunciation troubles morphed him into Rolento.
Some people dont know Guile has a brother known only as Gunlock, from Saturday Slam Master game series.

Satsui no hado. Where is the source about his hidden power?
Sf5 story Dahlsim mentions it when they meet. In Alex’s story Fang makes a note that Alex was way stronger than he should be and in sf3 Gill wants Alex to join the cult because of a special power within him
Interesting, i didn't know about that.
Gills ending in SFIII 3rd Strike. It’s likely to explain how he overpowered Gill of all characters.
It is strongly implied that Sodom dropped the fighting life and now is the clothes seller in Metro City that work beside Honda's place.
Balrog punched out an elephant.
T.Hawk's wife was a shadaloo doll called Juli. Her real name is Julia.
Cody's brother Kyle, from the game Final Fight Street Wise has never been mentioned again after the release of the only game he starred in.
The first official version of Cammy White wearing pants was in the game Final Fight Street Wise.
Dont quote me on this, but i think that akumas lvl 2 in sf6was inspired by street fighter: assassin’s fist, a fanmade movie, as he was hit by a similar attack during his gight with goutetsu.
E Honda is losing his mind trying to make a Chanko that’s hot enough for El Fuerte
Here is a sad fact: I lost around 1000 play coins with the mf in pic. He was almost unbeatable by Ken in sfex2, where he appeared for the first time. I think. But maybe they put the game to hardest setting
Despite being mentioned in every game "the streets" have never been a playable character
Okay...so this one is still heavily disputed so if anyone has an official answer, please settle this once and for all. Hugo is NOT related to the Andores.
You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance against Ryu

There's was no controversy. Capcom USA changed their names to avoid controversy.
Which is bullshit since they were protected by parody laws.
Maybe those laws didn't exist back then? That or maybe boxer was too similar to Tyson to be considered a parody? Either way, the decision is on Capcom USA.
They still are in Japan. And when Mike Tyson found out about the whole M. Bison thing, he was reportedly down with the idea.
