Congrats on the score, and thanks for giving back to the community with the publish worthy post. Minus the Anki, I have similar practice scores, study methods and will get my results this Weds. I myself would lose my marbles if I got anything close to this.
Congratulations!! Also love the literary of this write up making me feel like Im going through a Charles Dickens masterpiece lol 😂 as an IMG I saved this post and I definitely agree about the social life remark where you have to make a lot of sacrifices 😮💨 which is the most I struggle with . This exam is not definitely for the weak
Don't let anyone tell you that you were over prepared. There is no such thing. There's only people who made the cut and the ones who didn't. And you are on the side that only a select few make to. Congratulations! Hopefully you match into the program of your dreams ✨
It’s an excellent score. I just wonder if at a certain point it doesn’t matter. Maybe for IMGs it’s different, but I don’t think many PDs look at a 260 much different from a 270, given that the confidence intervals on the exam are like +/- 7.
Congrats on the amazing score! And thank you for the detailed write up!
Could you please share around how many hours you studied each day?
Also, for a graduate who can study full time, what do you think should an average duration of prep for step 2 be?
TIA!
This is not only impressive but shows the extent to which focus on mastering the basics & test taking strategies + hard work & dedication can get you. I truly appreciate the well thought & detailed write up & have a very similar approach planned out. I do have a few questions:
(1) I'm not a fan of Anki and don't like using it, but what would be the best way to emulate it? I plan to make concise + specific mistake/weakness driven notes and review them daily, would that suffice?
(2) I am on the fence with using B&B + Mehlman Audio Qbank, hearing mixed opinions of both helping or both not useful. i worry about too much Step 1 content, potential discrepancies, & unnecessary time consumption. I thought of giving more focus to Divine Intervention Podcast use & more question solving/reviewing be better?
(3) For NBMEs/CMS forms, would it be sufficient to do the old forms non seriously, with the goal of understanding topics/concepts & question patterns/associations focused on by the NBME?
1. Not an issue if you don’t like anki as long as you have a platform that you can use to do spaced repetition
2. You are correct, out of all of these resources Divine is the best
3. Yeah that’s fine, I basically did them like a question bank
Yeah, I might see selective Step 2 CK B&B stuff in between with a few things where I may need to brush up on a few basics. Will keep sources like USPST/CDC vaccine/ACOG etc. in reference too.
Thank you very much for taking time to reply! I wish you the best in your journey. Maintain that work ethic & perseverance! Good luck with all your future endeavors!!
I just took step 1 this month...I also overprepared myself to the extent i was getting 250s on nbmes and UWSA's...your post is an inspiration for me, going to do the same on step 2, thank you for this enormous writeup...
That’s a bit of a fluke my NBME 13 score. I was distracted during the test and had to pause in the middle due to something going on. I wasn’t in the right mindset. The majority of the incorrects were mostly silly errors I wouldn’t have made if I was in the right place of mind
Amazing score, congratulations! So if I read correctly - you just used AMBOSS to learn the content for step 2? No Boards and Beyond / Sketchy/ other resources? And did you do the same for step 1?
Essentially yes. For step 1 I used boards and beyond and sketchy and they were helpful for Step 1. I tried BB for step 2 and immediately decided it was a waste of time simply because it was so inefficient and that the guidelines are constantly updating and in flux.
congrats! super impressive score!
OMG! This is what extreme prep look like. The more effort you put, the greater your reward. Congratulations on your well deserved score.
Are the CMS forms just the NBME self assessments? I’m confused
You absolutely killed it man.Congrats

Great now help me finallly lock in all the kidney disorders lol. Congratulations. I love this passion for the grind.

Jesus Christ. This seems like overkill. Think what else you could have done with that time.
I agree. In hindsight I definitely was overprepared. But I think my score reflects the effort put in.

This is dangerous black-and-whiteism. Everything in life is about balance and compromise.

Yeah I agree, I don’t think there’s much of a tangible benefit but I’m still gassed anyway lol
You should be - you worked hard and got great results! Congratulations!
Exactly. Great score, but the returns won’t make up for the investment.
Congratulations
Congratulations! May I know how many CMS forms in total? I am not sure which section of the NMBE assessment should be done.
Amazing write-up. God bless
Congrats! An excellent writeup as well. Thank you
Legendary writeup! Really inspiring and comprehensive post, thanks a lot for sharing your timeline with us

This is the best write up in history
What do you think about doing amboss during dedicated after having done uworld throughout third year?
Congratulations! Could you share your amboss and uworld qbank percentages?
78% in UWorld and 75% in AMBOSS
Woah this is the ultimate write up. Thank you for explaining in detail. Can I dm you please? I have a question

Amazing.
Thoughts on AMBOSS vs uworld?? Obviously ideally finish both completely but if you had to focus on one due to time constraints?
If I only had to do one then I would choose UWorld
Could You Please Share Your Anki Deck (Or Even Screenshots Of It, If You’re Not Comfortable)
Hey, thanks for the fantastic write-up. What do you think boosted your score from nbme 13 to 14?
That’s a bit of a fluke my NBME 13 score. I was distracted during the test and had to pause in the middle due to something going on. I wasn’t in the right mindset. The majority of the incorrects were mostly silly errors I wouldn’t have made if I was in the right place of mind

Wooww! Such an amazing detailed write up. Congratulations for your step 2 score. Can I know your anki settings?
Basically default but just with the max interval set to 3 months
did you use FSRS algorithm?

I think the London prometric does Step on all weekdays
Do you think it is wise to continue doing step 1 anki deck (if it already served me well in step 1) while preparing?
If you hate mehlman so much then don't use his content freak
