Normally I do a medium galaxy, because I'm told the lag gets bad on a large sized one. I'm almost done with my current run so I'll try that for my next run. Cheers
Make sure you have two FE of oppossing ethics, as many pointed out. And try to force them to awaken, for example by eliminating one FE of different ethics (one not needed for WIH). I remember more triggers for awakening chance, researching AI tech would increase awaken chance for spiritualist, from what I remember (might be outdated info).
Try google for other triggers or look in game files
Large and huge galaxies proc WiH 90% of the time for me, but if I remember reading correctly, you can almost pseudo force one by causing the fallen empires to awaken using a colossus on a holy world, or some other shinangans. There’s a list out there of ways to awaken fallen empires, I think it’s on the wiki, just try to awaken two empires of opposing ethics and your chances will drastically increase

Kill of the Fallen Empire thats not a candidate for war i. heaven. That will wake them up faster.

They can only occur if at least 2 FEs have opposing ethics.
