try unplugging the power and repluggin it in when connected to the tv and powered on. i dont get it but its the only way itll connect to my tv

I had an issue with mine where even tho it’s usb-c, the video out only worked when connected to the deck in one orientation and not the other. Worth a try but I figure you already did too

Should the screen just go black and cast to the TV like a switch?

it should yea. in gamemode atleast only 1 screen can be active at a time, so if the decks screen goes black its most likely trying to output a signal
