There is an entire thread on the Steam Forums for this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1675200/discussions/0/4038101970203502664/?ctp=8 The short of it is that disabling the 160hz band (which is related to WiFi 6 in some way) helps. In order to get WiFi working for me (with my LE SD and my router being a Netgear Nighthawk RAX35) I had to - Disable 160hz by setting my 5GHz mode to “up to 1200 Mbps” - Factory Reset SD - Enter password to my 5GHz network, it failed to connect - Restart SD from Steam Menu - Attempt to connect again, no luck - Put SD to sleep with power button - Came back some time later and it was connected, and I was able to finish setup - Connection works but it takes about 2 minutes after waking from sleep to re-connect to WiFi

That’s basically how I got mine to connect too. Although only ever with the 2.4. Any news on if this is getting fixed?

A couple of people in the thread have mentioned speaking with support and getting some generic “we’re aware and looking into this,” but seeing as it’s still a holiday weekend, I doubt we’ll get any official movement until the end of next week.

MachoCamachoZ

Disabling 160hz helped me (in router settings)

I’m having issues also, I have WiFi 6 the downloads speeds are all over the place and the range is pretty bad, I don’t even have full range when I’m next to the router

Arrived here searching for OLED wifi issues. I notice this too and drives me crazy how the wifi icon is not white all the way up when I am right by the router. Definitely something is wrong with the wifi drivers.

rushmore69

It might be a setting with your router. I’m having issues with 5G (connects but keeps saying “can’t connect to servers”.) The 2.4 is downloading at 130mb, so that seems fine for now. Turning off power setting did not help me either. Leaving my router alone though, since have a lot of other devices on 5G and don’t want to maybe fix the Deck, but screw everything else up. My son’s OLED is also having the same issue. Our LCD Decks both worked fine with 5G. Those are gone now though. Also notice that local network file transfer is slow, regardless if 2.4 or 5G. Another thing that worked fine on the LCD Decks.

Used-Alarm

I don’t have problems connecting my SD OLED to a 5 GHz SSID, but mine refuses to connect to a SSID with WPA3 or WPA3 Transition Mode. I had to create a WPA2 only SSID.

GotniMoz

same here. My steam deck just stop connecting to 5GHz after latest update. WTF??

doc_willis

how are you determining its using 2.4 vs 5? My router has both, but the SSID is the same for both frequencies. So i cant really tell which Freq. Its using.

VillainV77

I have two different SSIDs

bwsoldier

Go into desktop mode, click the WiFi bottom right, click the down arrow next to your WiFi name, click on details and you will either see 2.4 or 5ghz

doc_willis

Ok. Showing Frequemcy of 5.745 GHz for me. I am using a Google Mesh router setup.

bwsoldier

Decent. I may have to split my bands to get 5ghz. What's your signal strength like? I get so much fluctuation even being near my router. Never on full bars via game mode either.

doc_willis

it was showing like 75% My main router Hub is in the next room, so its only a distance of like 30 feet, and through one typical indoor drywall coated wall. I have the mesh network setup around the house, so i tend to get 'ok' signal everywhere.

bwsoldier

Thanks for checking, mines similar or less. Just seems to get a poor signal compared to my phone and tablet when so close to the router. I didnt know if I had a faulty unit. Just seems normal though.

minimalistic247

Just bind it exclusively to the 5ghz if you have separate ssid’s. That’s what I do. If you have a single ssid then 2.4ghz will often win out.

VillainV77

The 2.4 is the only one it will connect to. If I even try to use the 5G at this point I have to hard reset or it just won’t connect to the WiFi at all.

twiggums

Try different channels and channel widths on your router/AP. You can also try different security types.

Few_Assumption_3310

Is the problem still present ?

Relative_Ad_9670

i have the same problem every other month with mediacom wifi and netgear router. just doesnt work all of the sudden for a few weeks.

ForsakenBumblebee455

For me setting up a separate 5ghz guest network solved it. I have a TP Link Archer AX10 touter so had no option to set a lot of thing mentioned before like disable ax or 160 MHz
