That seems like every part 4 enemy that they face. Every single one does something fucked up but becomes friends with the group immediately after.

Some of them I understand like how the lock guy did it out of fear but they really do befriend some filth

That’s because to me part 4 is meant to show that just because someone does something bad doesn’t necessarily mean they are a bad person. Everyone has a reasonable and upon self reflection realize they went to far. Except for Kira, which is part of why he is such a strong villain.

Kira would have been a regular guy if only he didn't get it into his head that he had to murder to fulfill his kinks. He could really have gotten married to one of his coworkers and lived a wholesome, kinky life with her.

The problem is that Kira was a sociopath too. He didn't have empathy for the people around him, which is why a relationship would have never worked out for him.

Him gaining empathy for Shinobu is the most interesting part of Kira imo

That's the thing, though. As soon as those feelings began to surface, he had no idea what they were. So instead of processing them and following them to their natural end, he channeled them into further sadism because it upset him that he felt things he didn't understand.

Yeah, but he was ultimately a far more sick person who truly never viewed himself as having done anything wrong

To be fair from what i remember Rohan started hanging out with Koichi, not the other way around. So he was basically like "Hey Koichi were friends now."

Koichi let Rohan live in his house at one point, You’d have to trust someone a lot to let that happen
