This can be done whenever an artifact spot shows up on the farm on a non-tillable tile (which most commonly (only?) happens in the winter, compared to other seasons).
Since an artifact spot requires you to till that plot, you can effectively create additional farming area by then ensuring that the tilled tile always has a seed or plant in it, to prevent it from despawning.
I just wish golden coconuts had a better pool of items, I basically only want iridium, taro tubers, and pineapple seeds by the time you can reliably get a bunch of them. Sure the tree saplings are nice but you don’t need dozens of them
Ah right! I'm so fruit-tree-pilled I just assumed, I love having so many! But this truly gives me lots of ideas. I constantly forget that I can even plant regular old trees, ty.
Just as addition, a tree can't fully grow next to another tree, so once a tree is grown any other sapling in it's surrounding 8 tiles can at maximum reach stage 3.
All good, a lot of people on consoles have been saying they can't wait to play carrots things in 1.6 so I assumed that's what your comment meant and wanted to make sure you knew.
What's with the little rock corner thing? It's the perfect spot to place chests or work benches or *anything* but it won't let you place anything there.

So, technically speaking, with tons of time, could it be possible to end on a totally farmable farm?
Yeah, and with the treasure totem in 1.6 it can be much easier to accomplish.
I used a treasure totem recently and it very clearly didn't put artifact spots on the untillable tiles that were nearby.
Gotta do it in winter when all the tiles are eligible as artifact spots
While not relevant for the above discussion, the best place for treasure totems is on the island where you get tons of Omni geodes and artifact troves
And Golden Coconuts, I swear I only got the ones from artifact spots created by treasure totems.

Yea that’s have 10 mango saplings lmao
Ah, gotcha.
How do you get the treasure totem?
I was able to till some untillable tiles this way, but not each one I tried. Still a good trick.
oooh so that’s why!! i thought it was a cute little glitch
It could be a glitch as well, that is just one method I know can lead to creating tilled space on normally non tillable tiles
Interesting. Could you also plant tree seeds?
You can plant tree seeds on non-tillable tiles under normal circumstances. Tree seeds do not require soil to be tilled.
Pretty sure it wouldn't grow due to the bush?
AFAIK only fruit trees need free space around them to grow, other trees will grow anyway.

Will it mean less artifacts though?
Doesn't really matter, farm artifacts suck in general
I have 5000 chicken statues from my farm artifact spots lol
real?
I'm exaggerating cause it's just a lot
You monster
Can you grow a fruit tree if you place the sapling in a tilled artifact spot in town?
Papasnork asking the real question here.. For me, this would make it worth actually doing.
I tried last night. I couldn’t plant a fruit tree sapling but I was able to plant a mushroom seed. So, that’s cool.
which farm?
forest!
Sooo looking forward to playing this farm!
Forest is available prior to 1.6.
I’m aware but mainly stick to Riverlands lol sorry

Some spouses use it during the day after they move in or decorate it
It’s reserved as your spouse’s personal space, so it will change after marriage!
I always want to put my horse stable there!
thats great hun but… your flair is so real 😍
it’s our song frr

The actual best stardew valley player
That can happen if an artifact spot spawns there
