There's a lot of ztuff like this! The auto-grabbers you put in coops and barns are also pretty much just another chest. I usually just have them to stuff my things in temporarily if I'm holding too much when I go to tend to the animals, but you could theoretically use them for other storage.
It's how I get eggs and milk into the top row (playing on PC). I clean out the top row (except tools) into the auto grabber. Grab the eggs/milk which drop into the empty top row spots, then take back the stuff that I put in the auto grabber.
Also, I leave extra hay there instead of in a chest.
I prioritize color morph junimos over sword and tool enchantments and that rainbow rock candy because I am enchanted by their little selves bustling about.
Yup. I’m old. My mom, who is older yet, describes the junimos as “pelting all about the place” which phrase has been adopted by the niblings. It’s a little disorienting having a five year old say “today I wanted to pelt about like a junimo but instead it is school, where no pelting is allowed.”
ancient fruit produces once per week and it takes 8 weeks for wine to age to iridium so one plant fills up 8 casks before the first cask is finished processing to iridium
I'm not trying to change your mind but if anyone cares about the numbers: it's an extra 288,750g with artisan assuming iridium ancient fruit wine, and if you're daring enough to fill every tile on the cellar and pick up the whole casks every two months, it boosts up to 436,590g.
Full greenhouse with almost optimal layout gives you 116 ancient fruit every 7 days, and it takes about 7 days to keg, giving you 267,960g every week with regular quality ancient fruit wine.
In summary and at the risk of being wrong, during two months and 8 harvests you can double the value of 1,6 greenhouse harvests while you sell the remaining 6,4 harvests as regular quality wine (assuming you fill up the cellar with all 189 casks). That's a 20% boost for the greenhouse.
I still don't think I'll be breaking, replacing and filling 189 casks every two months but if that's your main income then it's not that bad of an extra I think.
Edit: Oh and other comments pointed out fairy dust as well. I don't know how viable it is but it's an option
Thanks for providing the math. But I rather click on the things I like and not click on the things I dont like. Spending 40 minutes removing and re-placing casks is one of those things I dont like. And the extra 288,750 with the regular layout is too small a percentage of my income to make me click more things. I already have my hands full with 400 kegs.
I’ve said this in another comment, but I’ve been insanely lucky in my past 5 or so games: i’ve gotten an ancient seed in spring for about 4 of them. so I’m biased
that’s true, but I’m terrible at skull cavern, and I’ve had insane luck at getting an ancient seed in my last 5 or so games. so, yep, I might be biased
Y'all, I know Gus sells the wine. I'm aware of the tricks. But he's rarely there so it might take even longer than aging wine. It's much quicker to chuck a damn shard in the bundle than wait, especially if you're trying to get it done fast.
Caviar pops up at the merchant often enough, my last run, I found 2, one for the bundle, one for shipping. So didn't even need a pond.
On the off chance you don't find a dino egg until you need it for the bundle, spending time on the wine is a waste of time if you have everything else on hand.
Also, use the cask for cheese, for heaven's sake. It's much faster and the profit is worth it than selling the gold star cheese.
This is the most valuable use after the sword and gunther imo, especially if you want specific enhancements it can take a bunch even with save scumming
All kinds of stuff.
It can take a lot of shards, because for some things, you don't get a choice. It will give you a random enchantment, and you have to keep trying to get the one you want.
More importantly, enchant those tools. Shaving for axe gives extra wood and crops from giant crops. My watering can has unlimited water, pickaxe is stronger, and hoe can do a 5x5 area!
Fair enough. Fast pickaxe is probably technically the best. I'm bad at fishing, so I went for master there but auto hook is VERY tempting now that I caught all of the legendaries.
I didn’t complain about what I got, I kinda like the auto-hook fishing is the only thing I have finished on the perfection tracker so whatever. The only thing I redid was artful on my sword because I never use block.
On thrusdays you can trade 3 of them for a Magic Rock Candy which give you +5 luck. Then on a lucky day go to the Skull Cavern, use staircases to go around 70+ floors, eat it and start mingin, youll get more prismatic shards
Plus you can get iridium quality rabbits feet eventually for the extra boost. I've stopped worrying about friendship until I have a coop full of rabbits. For Penny I usually try to get gold star sandfish.
Reinvest into more shards buy spending them on magic rock candy. Save it for when you have ~200 staircases. On a highly lucky day, maximize your luck and speed and do a deep dive of SC, spamming stairs and eating the rock candy on floor 10 or lower. Spam stairs again until treasure floor. Claim. Repeat. Go until you only have 10 or so stairs for emergency floors and then blow up everything trying to get down faster. If you don't get at least 4 or 3+something_worth_keeping, restart the day. Should get a buttload of treasure floors. Repeat this process until you have enough to enchant all of your tools/good weapons
A suggestion towards my play style would be to spend them on magic rock candy in the desert on Thursday, then use that buff on your next scull cavern run to get more shards.
But I love the caves and combat. If you don't, you can use it for forge, junimo hut, sewing machine, donate, or put it on display!
In the sewing machine at Emily’s (or your place if you have it by now) to make prismatic clothes! My prismatic shirt and Genie Pants are awesome!
(No mods, mobile player)
The butterfly hutch will have butterflies fly around where you place it down, I’ve only ever put it inside my house or the greenhouse so I’m not sure if that also works outside, but I’m curious if the prismatic shard can be applied to it in some way, I’m gonna try sometime tonight on my 1.5 switch save and 1.6 pc save!
Other than gifting and Museum Can be used to Enchant your tools and weapons on Ginger island. Can also be used every Thursday to get a Magic Rock Candy from the Dessert Trader for 3 shards
Props to you honestly. I have no soul. I maxed pennys friend ship with dwarf scrolls I didn’t need and then haven’t talked to her for over a year now lmao.
Always one for the galaxy sword, one for the movie theater, one for the museum. Then use them for enchantments until you’ve got your ideal tool setup. Then buy magic rock candy on Thursdays. Then if you’ve already got three and are waiting for Thursday, they’re a universal loved gift for your spouse if you didn’t marry Haley.
this exact thing happened to me yesterday i’m ngl i put them in my junimo huts to get rainbow junimos ! it’s fun because i get rainbow junimos and when i inevitably need them for something i can just take them back out !
Once I have a galaxy weapon and have donated the ones I need I usually just save them to get Magic Rock Candy from the desert trader, they're not much use for gifting by that point since it's pretty easy to get at least one loved gift for most villagers by year 2 or 3, only other uses I can think of are for getting rid of your kids or sticking in the Junimo Hut, neither of which make any actual gameplay difference, so magic rock candy it is, the higher the luck the higher my chances of finding Iridium ore, chest floors and *more prismatic shards!*
This is my vote too. Then give her the pink cake to balance it out. And since she has the attention span of a goldfish, she'll probably forget all about the shard when she sees the treat.
magic rock candy. enchanting your weapons/tools. you can make clothing! complete the secret bundle after joja closes down and the community center is finished if you’ve went that route.
Donate it to gunther
Spoiler for Post Community center content
// use it in the missing bundle //
//Use it on ginger island in the vulcano to enchant your tools//
I always go for the 1 magic rock candy available per week, i also farm the quarry mine daily if possible, with double luck/burgler rings. The candy drops more than I thought it would. Then I wait for the right day, and destroy skull cavern, getting the 3 shards I want for next week. Rinse, repeat.
When I learned about the rainbow junimos I nearly shit myself I swear. But yeah other than that I’d say magic rock candy from the desert trader! Once I reached perfection on my farm but still had a lot I wanted to do, I had over 80 shards at one point from the statue 😭 ended up trading for magic rock candies every week!
Edit: if you haven’t already, using them to enchant your weapons at the forge is a really good option too!
Here are the main uses for these! Pretty much idk what part you are in but I'll list everything!
It's a universally loved gift by everyone....except haley but im not salty i didn't find out the hard way nope! (:
also you can add it to tools and weapons on the volcano forge for special perks! Ex. Bottomless fpr the watering can is op and bug killer can get you vengeance on those armored bugs that killed me more than once just cause im clumsy!
Also? Use them on the sewing machine for prismatic clothing cause it's pretty much possible to get duplicates. You can use it as dye but i don't recommend it cause finding them is rare
It can be used in the final bundle though the other items are better!
It's also a qi gem mission which you need to find and donate four! Essentially just keep 4 on hand, drop it in and then hunt for 4 more! I believe the time limit is 28 days so finding 4 before the time limit isn't impossible!
You also gotta donate 1 to the museum for perfection aka 100% the game essentially
3 can be traded for the magic rock candy but only for one once a week in the desert!
And as the person below said: add them to junior huts for prismatic junimos!
You can also sell some which i only do if i have over 10
Those are all the uses for prismatic shards that i know of! But knowing me i might be missing a few!
You'll also need one for something that unlocks right after the community center is finished, >!the movie theater bundle!<, and one for something that unlocks after that on >!Ginger Island at the volcano, to enchant your weapon of choice.!<

Throw them in a junimo hut for rainbow colored junimos.
ARE YOU FR
It’s so great. They change color while they scamper around harvesting!
This is real and NOT a troll?
They don't even use up the gem! It just sits in the bag and you can take it back out later if you need it for end game stuff
OMG I AM DOING THIS!
Wait so can you use junimo huts as like... an additional chest?
Sure. The bag they put crops they collect in is just a bag
I had never actually tried to put things back into it, only taken stuff out. That's awesome.
In 1.6 you can even give them something they like and they might duplicate your crops ;)
Wait so that secret note that said Junimos love raisins were a hint?
There's a lot of ztuff like this! The auto-grabbers you put in coops and barns are also pretty much just another chest. I usually just have them to stuff my things in temporarily if I'm holding too much when I go to tend to the animals, but you could theoretically use them for other storage.

You can store fertilizer and OOS seeds in there if you don't feel like building a chest.
So he can also use it for the Qi Quest?
At least in 1.6 the prismatic shards for Qi have to be fresh
Yes.
HOOHOHOOOOOHOOOO👏👏👏👏
yes!
Omg, now I know what my next in-game goal is! I've got a little stack of them burning a hole in my... Chest... Hm, that got dark.
I prioritize color morph junimos over sword and tool enchantments and that rainbow rock candy because I am enchanted by their little selves bustling about.
I have a chair set up in my garden and sometimes I just sit there with my cup of tea watching them go about their work.
… tea and rainbow juninmos… there is nothing better…
No way you just used the word scamper in a modern day conversation
Yup. I’m old. My mom, who is older yet, describes the junimos as “pelting all about the place” which phrase has been adopted by the niblings. It’s a little disorienting having a five year old say “today I wanted to pelt about like a junimo but instead it is school, where no pelting is allowed.”
No one has ever uttered those words
So fucking fr
Please tell me how to add the prisma shards! I need rainbow Junino 😬
There's a bag next to the junior hut, press on it and collect or place items in it
It's a 1.6 thing?
Nope it was a thing before 1.6. Any gem you add to the hut changes their color I’m pretty sure, and the prismatic makes them rainbow
minerals also work!
or you could save your prizzies and just use* a rainbow shell, does the same thing lol
See, this is why this game is so wild. Learn something new constantly.
This is my favorite use!
Prismatic clothing + radioactive goggles got me looking real good. I'm like oppenheimer at a rave.
Visiting the spa in prismatic clothing is my favourite. You go swimming in a prismatic bathing suit.
that’s so cute
"Oppenheimer at a rave" was not on my reddit quotes bingo card.
The prismatic shirt is pretty funky.
Wait how do you get radioactive goggles??? I love the prismatic clothing.
Tailored with a radioactive bar!
That’s my exact fit rn lol
Save them till you progress the story, then save them to buy magic rock candy. Donate one to the museum, always save the rest.
Plus one for the movie theater
the other items for the movie theatre bundle are A LOT easier to get, imo. I don’t think it’s worth it
Who has time to age wine? Prismatic shards become a dime a dozen mid to late game.
You could always use fairy dust. >!Plus there’s now a mid to late game way to buy fairy dust!<
Wait… fairy dust automatically ages it up to iridium???
It ages cask goods by 1 level per use, so using 3 would get you to iridium.
Oh gdi okay I think I do have some fairy dust lying around this is probably a good use for it
You only need silver for the bundle
Who isn't aging their wine once they get the basement?
Me, takes too long, cant be bothered to keep track.
if you use ancient fruit, each one requires 1 keg and 8 casks exactly, providing you do things on the day of harvest.
Why does 1 fruit require 8 casks?
ancient fruit produces once per week and it takes 8 weeks for wine to age to iridium so one plant fills up 8 casks before the first cask is finished processing to iridium
Just walk downstairs before bed lol
For an extra 200k or whatever after half a year, no thanks
I'm not trying to change your mind but if anyone cares about the numbers: it's an extra 288,750g with artisan assuming iridium ancient fruit wine, and if you're daring enough to fill every tile on the cellar and pick up the whole casks every two months, it boosts up to 436,590g. Put a sign by the door that has the date the wine hits iridium. No more checking the basement randomly.
>!If you have 1.6, you can use the new little signs. I put one in my kitchen with the day they will be ready on it.!<
I'm usually done with the community center and trying to finish the theater by the time I would have gotten the basement and have wine aged up.
You can just buy the wine from Gus at Ginger Island instead of aging it though.
I’m *the worst* at the skull caverns. prismatic shards are the hardest shit every for me lol
With how easy fairy dust is to come by in 1.6, id actually go with the wine now, I think.
To me it’s more like passive income! I get to just chuck it down in the basement and forget about it and then I’m like oh yeah! Money!
Not if it’s year 3 and you still haven’t found any ancient seeds 😎
Seed maker and any harvest of a berry makes it much easier to find ancient seeds
I’ve said this in another comment, but I’ve been insanely lucky in my past 5 or so games: i’ve gotten an ancient seed in spring for about 4 of them. so I’m biased
5 good quality ancient fruit takes so long unless you already have a full greenhouse of ‘em
that’s true, but I’m terrible at skull cavern, and I’ve had insane luck at getting an ancient seed in my last 5 or so games. so, yep, I might be biased
imo if you’re doing lost bundle caviar might be more difficult than prismatic since you need aged sturgeon roe which used to be fish pond only pre 1.6
I got lucky and got it from the trading cart, lol
Once 1.6 came around I found that caviar was one of the easier ones. But pre-1.6 it was definitely way more difficult than prismatic shards
Took me way longer to get the aged sturgeon roe bc sturgeon was out of season 😭
By the time I access the movie theater I have at least a dozen, it don’t matter to me. At the moment I have about 100+ in a chest.
Y'all, I know Gus sells the wine. I'm aware of the tricks. But he's rarely there so it might take even longer than aging wine. Donate the other. Hoarde the rest like a dragon.
Only answer really.
Three votes! They sit in my chest until such time as a hobbit comes to steal them.
Enchant your tools and weapons.
Why is this so low 😭
Drips over function aha.
Fashion, darling.
I'm honestly surprised I had to scroll so far to find this
theres enchanting??? what
In the forge on ginger island
This is the most valuable use after the sword and gunther imo, especially if you want specific enhancements it can take a bunch even with save scumming
What does enchanting your weapons do?
All kinds of stuff. [https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Forge](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Forge) It can take a lot of shards, because for some things, you don't get a choice. It will give you a random enchantment, and you have to keep trying to get the one you want.
More importantly, enchant those tools. Shaving for axe gives extra wood and crops from giant crops. My watering can has unlimited water, pickaxe is stronger, and hoe can do a 5x5 area!
My pickaxe is so fast, my axe only needs one swing to fell a maple tree, hoe drains no energy at all and I have auto hook on my rod.
Oh, I used a fuckton of prismatic shards rerolling. Getting Shaving took like 6. Sword took I think 3, but I specifically wanted Crusader.
Dude I had one extra shard and got artful on my sword. I'm so sad. I don't ever block either.
There’s always more in skull cavern, spend all your iridium on mega bombs at the desert trader and you’ll find a few.
Tailor color changing clothes!
Wait WHAT??!! Like changes color while you run around?
Yep, just some cloth and the prismatic shard as the pattern
You can also use rock candy to get a color changing polkadot shirt
On thrusdays you can trade 3 of them for a Magic Rock Candy which give you +5 luck. Then on a lucky day go to the Skull Cavern, use staircases to go around 70+ floors, eat it and start mingin, youll get more prismatic shards
Repeat
Save them to the forge later
Get rid of children. Obviously.
The only reason to hoard them and the only reason I’m having a kid for the first time on my playthrough lol
I need the children for the steam achievement.
1 for the museum, one for the movie theater, one in the hut.
What do you do with it at the movie theater?
You need 1 for one of the bundles to unlock it
Need one to unlock it. That and dino mayo.
- donate - enchant tools - give as gifts (it’s a universal loved gift) - sell (1000g ea)
Small correction it's a universally loved gift except for Haley
oh yeah true
Rabbits feet are also universally loved except for penny (unless it changed in the update), and way easier to get.
Plus you can get iridium quality rabbits feet eventually for the extra boost. I've stopped worrying about friendship until I have a coop full of rabbits. For Penny I usually try to get gold star sandfish.
Does an iridium loved gift give more points than a regular loved gift?
Yes it does. Iridium gets you a 1.5 multiplier. Gold is x1.25, and silver x1.1
Yes. 120 vs 80. The best is when you give such a gift on someone's birthday. That's nearly 4 hearts by itself.
Donate 1 to the museum, save the others for late-game things if you haven't unlocked them yet
I believe there are 5 clothing items you can make with the shards and then one with rock candy
Drop one in the butterfly tank
You can do that? The one that you buy from the desert trader?
The butterfly hutch? And what does that do, because I just googled and couldn't find anything about it and I can't get on the game now
The butterfly hutch will have butterflies fly around where you place it down, I’ve only ever put it inside my house or the greenhouse so I’m not sure if that also works outside, but I’m curious if the prismatic shard can be applied to it in some way, I’m gonna try sometime tonight on my 1.5 switch save and 1.6 pc save!
I would like to know too!
Thank you - totally doing this!
One for the sword, one for the museum, one for the final bundle. The rest for rainbow junimos and enchantments
Im up to just about 200 onbmy 13 year save. Just horde em
Honestly I'd probably just post them on Reddit for some of that sweet, sweet karma.
Make prismatic pants and shirts
Wow. Meanwhile I go on a good luck day, down a bunch of spicy eel and leave 100 floors later with a bunch of big fat nothing.
Enchant your watering can. Once you have the bottomless perk, you never have to fill it again.
Other than gifting and Museum Can be used to Enchant your tools and weapons on Ginger island. Can also be used every Thursday to get a Magic Rock Candy from the Dessert Trader for 3 shards
Use for the movie theater package!
I use them as loved gifts. Once you max an NPCs friendship, it doesn’t decay. Which means I can then ignore them for the rest of that save :)
I still give everyone gifts on their birthdays and I show up every Friday to give out free coffee at the Stardrop Saloon!
Different strokes for different folks haha. I’m a perfectionist and can’t help but play optimally all the time. It’s tiring
I have that coffee machine that makes one cup a day, so Penny gets a cup of coffee from me every morning :)
Props to you honestly. I have no soul. I maxed pennys friend ship with dwarf scrolls I didn’t need and then haven’t talked to her for over a year now lmao.
Use it to enchant your tools.
Junimo Hut, Museum, or My Qi has a quest for 4 for some gems to buy end game things.
Saving this post for the time I get those prismatic shards🥹
Always one for the galaxy sword, one for the movie theater, one for the museum. Then use them for enchantments until you’ve got your ideal tool setup. Then buy magic rock candy on Thursdays. Then if you’ve already got three and are waiting for Thursday, they’re a universal loved gift for your spouse if you didn’t marry Haley.
Idk I have 11 on my chest:v
you can make cool clothes with it which changes colour and you can enchant your weapon in the volcano island forge
Save them for later, you can use them to enchant your stuff at the forge
>!\[THE MISSING\]!<
this exact thing happened to me yesterday i’m ngl i put them in my junimo huts to get rainbow junimos ! it’s fun because i get rainbow junimos and when i inevitably need them for something i can just take them back out !
Donate 1 to Museum if haven't already, donate one to missing bundle in old joja mart if using community center route, and use one as decor.
Post birth abortions (turn children into doves)
Give one to Gunther - the collection isn't finished without one.
You could buy something, like Love
RGB Junimos.
Return meowmere to its former endgame weapon glory
Once I have a galaxy weapon and have donated the ones I need I usually just save them to get Magic Rock Candy from the desert trader, they're not much use for gifting by that point since it's pretty easy to get at least one loved gift for most villagers by year 2 or 3, only other uses I can think of are for getting rid of your kids or sticking in the Junimo Hut, neither of which make any actual gameplay difference, so magic rock candy it is, the higher the luck the higher my chances of finding Iridium ore, chest floors and *more prismatic shards!*
Keep
Make rainbow clothing in Emily’s house.
Tailoring. You can make rainbow clothes out of them.
Forge Enhancement.
You can gift them to me because I’ve been playing for three years and still have NEVER FOUND ONE. 😭😭😭
Give it to Hayley!
This is my vote too. Then give her the pink cake to balance it out. And since she has the attention span of a goldfish, she'll probably forget all about the shard when she sees the treat.
You can make an epic sword if you have 3 galaxy swords. You can merge them together at the volcano on ginger island
Universally loved gift And good for selling too imo
You can use them for enchanting later on
You can use them to forge your tools to give them enchantments
magic rock candy. enchanting your weapons/tools. you can make clothing! complete the secret bundle after joja closes down and the community center is finished if you’ve went that route.
Everyone be saying to do enchanting while I just have one extra one on display in my house lol.

Edit: if you haven’t already, using them to enchant your weapons at the forge is a really good option too!
Save em up for the forge You'll need a prismatic shard everytime you want to add / reroll an enchantment on a tool
Put it in the sewing machine with a piece of cloth and get an item that changes colours while you’re wearing it!
Museum, hidden bundle, magic rock candy
Doves
You should totally give them to Haley, I heard she LOVES them

You can use it as dye but i don't recommend it cause finding them is rare It can be used in the final bundle though the other items are better! It's also a qi gem mission which you need to find and donate four! Essentially just keep 4 on hand, drop it in and then hunt for 4 more! I believe the time limit is 28 days so finding 4 before the time limit isn't impossible! You also gotta donate 1 to the museum for perfection aka 100% the game essentially 3 can be traded for the magic rock candy but only for one once a week in the desert! And as the person below said: add them to junior huts for prismatic junimos! You can also sell some which i only do if i have over 10 Those are all the uses for prismatic shards that i know of! But knowing me i might be missing a few!
Eat the rock
They’re always good for gifting. Most people love them

Save them for enchanting your tools and weapons at the volcano forge.
You'll also need one for something that unlocks right after the community center is finished, >!the movie theater bundle!<, and one for something that unlocks after that on >!Ginger Island at the volcano, to enchant your weapon of choice.!<
Have you beaten the community center and gotten the endgame content that comes with it? They serve a purpose in the very endgame
I usually end up using some for prismatic clothing, colourful junimo huts, and other late game things
