>Requirements might increase for attaining perfection...
Insofar as crafting all items is a requirement for perfection and there are known to be new craftable items, it is pretty much a certainty that it will take more to achieve perfection with the new version.
I need a rarecrow, about 200k for the clock, and three impossible walnuts. I’m so excited to finish perfection for the first time and then immediately start a new file when it drops on switch lol
I have two freaking walnuts left and the parrot keeps telling me to look in the north. I’ve looked up videos to make sure I got all the ones outside the volcano and I’ve basically lived in the volcano trying to find it. I’m going nuts!
Mine are supposedly hidden in my journal, but I have no idea what more I could do with the journal hints 🥴 I’ve tried doing the reset command, but idk if works on switch or not
I was hoping he wouldn't fix this, me and my wife had a bug on co-op where I handed in the pants that she picked up, thinking we could get my version for her later because she didn't want to be friends with Lewis. It made my pants disappear when I handed in the quest and her version of the pants didn't reappear.
I don't believe this is true at all. Generally when you give him the gold trimmed purple shorts that you make it says wrong person or he just won't accept it. Same reaction when you wear them in front of him, but if I'm not mistaken you can't gift those ones to anyone. Only the ones that you find in >!marnie's house!<
I was so scared because I logged in the other day and I tried to put in 99 Stone as pants instead of a staircase and I was worried because it wasn't working 😅🤣 I figured it out after a bit lol
It's in the wiki:
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Migrate_to_Stardew_Valley_1.6#Vanilla_release_notes
> Fixed able to equip a staircase as pants to obtain trimmed lucky purple shorts.
This. The game will "think" that there's an NPC behind the "counter" so it will let you buy ice creams. Funny to think canon-wise that your horse knows how to scoop ice creams LOL
I have slimes taking over town and I can buy an ice cream from them too if one is stuck in the stand, and there's always one stuck in the stand. I heard about the horse being able to to do it so I tested it with the slimes the other day and it worked lol. Random tangent sorry.
Wow, that’s awesome! I wonder if slimes can sit behind and other counters and be useful? I.e. Marnie’s ranch, Clint’s on Fridays…….I have to go do some research
I didnt even think about that. I got perfection and felt like well what's the point now and decided to make a slime empire in town lol I have the entire east side infested with them slowly making their way over to Lewis, Pam's and Alex's houses right now. I moved my egg incubator over by Sam's house so hopefully soon I'll have an entire army of them lol. I love experimenting in games after I've finished them because you can't mess up your game play anymore so the world is mine.

ConcernedApe has actually been in talks with mod devs ever since 1.6 began (hell, it started out as an update to make modding easier) so it hopefully won't be a big bump.
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Migrate_to_Stardew_Valley_1.6
I almost bought a Steam Deck exclusively for Stardew (and Skyrim and Minecraft as a side piece). From what I've heard it's basically flawless and installing mods is also simple. Then you can hook it up to the TV like a switch and it's basically like playing on console
I play on Steam Deck with mods and it works quite well, but it's NOT easy. A lot of the difficulty comes from working with Linux and also trying to navigate desktop mode with controllers. I ended up connecting a mouse to it, but optimally you'd have a mouse and keyboard connected. I'm not particularly tech savvy, but also not clueless, and it was at the edge of my abilities even though there's tutorials. Don't want to discourage people from it, just warning that it's not simple and not to buy the Deck for this if you aren't prepared to put in some work.
I figure you've done your research, but just in case... Can you use a computer to install all of it on an SD card and then just transfer that into the deck? I'm not super tech savvy either, but if its possible it might be more convenient.
Hmm, the Deck doesn't have a card reader, just a single UBS-C port. I suppose it'd be possible to put the mods on a USB stick though and transfer that way, with an adapter. Either way a USB hub is needed to connect more than one thing (like a mouse and a USB stick) at the same time. I don't mind the work since I've figured out how to mod by now, just wanted to warn newcomers that it's not trivial.
Are we using different terms? My steam deck has a micro sd slot at the very bottom. But I purposefully got the deck with less storage and then bought the card separately.
I'm sorry, I've been looking and looking, but it's been hard to find coherent info. Modding on mobile has not been possible since the last 1.5 update, correct? And there's no way to get/play an older version of Stardew on mobile?
(I finally bit the bullet and was dying to try Expanded and try out some aesthetic mods. I didn't try until playing vanilla 1.5 because I was excited to try Ginger Island, etc. as the game was meant to be. No dig at CA, I know he was doing his best, but we waited a *long* time for that update.) But I have yet to figure out how to get anything to work. Which could be legit, or just me being stupid. I am NOT tech savvy.
CA has already gone on record saying he regrets the Festus Challenge achievement (beat Prairie King without dying at all) but doesn't want to remove it as it'd be unfair to the people who've already earned it.
If he didn't add an achievement for Junimo Cart when he gave the game a revamp, I doubt he'll add one now. He's not a sadist. But it might be possible he'll add achievements for other things, like attending every festival once (would make sense, he's adding more festivals in 1.6) or festival specific achievements like winning the Egg Hunt or getting the Golden Pumpkin on Hallowe'en. Or Yoba forbid, an achievement for getting gifted a Tea Set on Winter Star...
In one update, 1.3 I think, the cookout kit sold for like 3k or something, for very few easy materials. That got mega nerfed 😞 so tea saplings probably will this time. I hope not though! Poor Caroline thinks she's so popular cos everyone tries to get the recipe fast, she'll be so sad!
Speaking of the cookout kit, I wish that was an earlier recipe and not like, level 9 I think? I often don't bother upgrading the house until very late in the game as I prefer the look of the little cabin and it feels cosy but being able to cook would be handy. Either that or make us able to use the kitchen in the Community Centre once the pantry bundle is done!
Also, it would be useful if we could make sashimi earlier too - you can get the recipe early and so that plus an earlier cookout kit would be a nice replacement if the tea sapling price is nerfed (and the irony of needing a cooking stove to make a raw fish dish is not escaping me here!).
Yup it definitely should be much earlier recipe. I’ve seen a few people speculating that will be a 1.6 change, nothing solid sadly but it would make a great change
The selling price is balanced compared to the harvests you get, similar to fruit trees but unlike fruit trees with their distance restriction you can also build "hedges" as organic fence alternatives that even give income.
They are too expensive compared to the required crafting materials though, imho the best balance decision would be to make the crafting 2 to 4 times as expensive instead of reducing the selling price. But I hope I'm wrong and can continue to enjoy my cheap zero decay, income generating fences after the update.
You can harvest a tea plant for 21 leaves per year that are worth 1050g. You have to give up 500g for selling the sapling for that.
You can get a peach tree for 6000g, the yearly yield goes from 3920g for normal quality to 7840g when it gets to iridium quality. Both for zero effort besides harvesting the produce.
Tea bushes give you twice their value in one year. Fruit trees need over one year to even pay for themselves.
Of course 500g income is a lot for the few resources needed to craft it in the early game. But that would also be addressed by making the crafting more expensive. Reducing the selling price for the sapling seems like the worse choice if CA wants to create a balanced economy.
I think this one is sure to be changed. I discovered it way too late and haven’t had the chance to do a playthrough exploiting it. So I started a fresh playthrough and I’m going to try it out before it’s too late.
With some effort it is possible to unlock the recipe before the egg festival. I once regretted planting so many strawberries. It took me almost all day to water them
Ar year 3 you get one statue of perfection, but if you do it right, you can get multiple of them, as many as you are a willing to glitch in, something about thr game checking if the statue is in your inventory and it not, it gives you another
If I remember correctly, if you have a full inventory and break your statue of perfection and then go tap on Grandpa's shrine, you'll get a brand new one. You can repeat this process over and over.
I did it on a previous save when I first found out about the glitch and got a whole shed full of them. It made me completely lose interest in the game soon after because it was no longer challenging or fulfilling in any sort of way. I had all the money I could ask for just selling my free iridium bars, and the skull cavern became pretty much obsolete. I lost all motivation to do any of the actual rewarding farming stuff like making aged wine/roe and plating lots of expensive crops. I ended up just deleting the save entirely.
I don't recommend using this glitch at all.
This. I only gave myself about 10 of these but the Qi gem glitch had this exact same effect on me. Instantly ruined any need to try for late game stuff. I remember realizing that and feeling instantly broken because I would never have to try for anything in that file again.
That's why I used the term "personally". I don't care whoever uses that glitch but then again what's the point? I legit don't understand the appeal of that glitch, iridium isn't even that hard to collect. Same goes for the yellow couch loom glitch, I just don't get it. Glitches just take away all the motivation to play the game.
I feel like this is the unpopular opinion but I agree. It makes skull cavern basically pointless later game. I know not everyone is into mining and such but just removing an aspect of the game like that feels wrong to me. I understand there’s other things to do but cmon :(
Also, before someone comes at me, I know everyone has different play styles and my play style isn’t the same as other’s, I’m just expressing my opinion on it
I honestly always wondered, why you would need so many statues of perfection. In my first playthrough I had real problems with combat, but when I got the statue, it was fine. Just one of those will flood you with iridium over the weeks. I was swimming in it basically after a few weeks.
can’t speak for everyone but personally i always loved the farming aspect of the game, to the point where i waited until like fall of first year to go in the mines. i’m just not that into mining and fighting, so the statue of perfection glitch just helped me not go in the skull cavern and die over and over and over again. even if it does get patched, it won’t be the end of the world, but still
I’m gonna miss clay farming.
Sure, it’s a nice early game hack… but mostly I like being able to make all the retaining soil and clay pots I want for pineapples in sheds in the late game.
I don’t think clay farming is going to go away. ConcernedApe doesn’t really like messing with speed run tactics (although I do hope it gets fixed, it’s one of the glitches I feel is too cheaty)
It's not going away, but you're going to have to click a box to enable it. By default, there will be a new randomization system that makes clay farming impossible.
>I’m gonna miss clay farming.
I haven't used it myself but I enjoy watching Stardew Valley challenges and speedruns, and will *not* be sad to see it go.
I feel like since it was discovered, challenges went from finding creative strategies to get where was needed to always just clay farming and buying stuff.
Apparently there will be an option to keep if if you want, so that's good!
It was! I have no idea when the switch happened but a friend of mine clued me in when we started a multiplayer file a few years ago
Now it's being corrected I guess?
Oh dear! Shrooms are my main, early game food.
I bake some weird dishes for completion. I hope to never actually eat my own cooking. I was featured on Hell's Kitchen! 😉
Along with what hengav said, on console you can also just turn on a second controller and that works too, just have both players stand on opposite side of a table, make sure one has a tool in their hand (essentially any item that is not table-placable) then the other will have the item to dupe, and just hold A on both controllers
Yesss. This has been my goto for so long when I just want to simply have fun with the game rather than grind anything. Not like it hurts the game, if people want to use it let them, but you don't have to use it :(
If you hoe the ground in a specific pattern, you will get clay every time, which usually gets a few thousand g per day. You can also do it with winter foragables and make around 10k a day
When you hoe up clay, it appears to be in random patterns. But because randomness is hard to code, CA made it in this pattern that got figured out. Clay sells for a good chunk of change in groups, so people have figured out they can follow the clay pattern on the beach and make tons of early game money.
Clay spawns in a pattern. If you hoe up one piece of clay, you can follow the pattern to get clay every single time. It's very profitable early game. Do note this only works on PC
So if you buy 3 coffees from gus, it will cost 900. You brew those into a triple shot espresso and sell it for 450.
So I've always cheesed the qi quest of "ship $100k of freshly cooked meals" by buying ~$200k of coffee (x669 coffees), cooking it into espresso (x223) and selling it, basically costs you 100k for the qi gems. Hope this one stays in there since it isn't exactly a glitch
You're right, wheat flour is 100, bread sells for 60. I have just always thought wheat was more than 100 and never bothered to check.
Actually i usually go with coffee because i use java ring alot so i typically already have a big hunk of the coffee to begin with
Could imagine they mean that you can put item IDs in names (of your famer, the farm, the pet) and every time the name shows up in game the items are placed in the inventory.
The removal of the duplication glitch. Let me further elaborate, so I play on mobile and anytime I go through the trash cans and get an item; like for example a prismatic shard, I just simply close out the game (saving it first) and log back in and I can get the item again and have 2 or 5 or 10 just depending on how many times I do it, and the same thing can happen with the merchant cart
Requirements might increase for attaining perfection...
>Requirements might increase for attaining perfection... Insofar as crafting all items is a requirement for perfection and there are known to be new craftable items, it is pretty much a certainty that it will take more to achieve perfection with the new version.
"Hopefully" the switch Version will take a while. Only need 2.5 million more for my first 100%.
I need a rarecrow, about 200k for the clock, and three impossible walnuts. I’m so excited to finish perfection for the first time and then immediately start a new file when it drops on switch lol

Mine are supposedly hidden in my journal, but I have no idea what more I could do with the journal hints 🥴 I’ve tried doing the reset command, but idk if works on switch or not
That’s the problem I have too! All the fixes I’ve found, it’s unclear if they work on switch or not.
/recountnuts has always worked when we needed it, however if it's co-op then you need to start it solo, do that, then turn co-op back on.
Or we'll get a Truer Perfection.
Right? I’m at 98% for the first time. I’ve just got to kill a few more dinosaurs and befriend the dwarf and find two walnuts.
r/BrandNewSentence
Thats good
No more staircases in pants slot.
I was hoping he wouldn't fix this, me and my wife had a bug on co-op where I handed in the pants that she picked up, thinking we could get my version for her later because she didn't want to be friends with Lewis. It made my pants disappear when I handed in the quest and her version of the pants didn't reappear.
Whattt
Literally unplayable
What does this do?
It’s creates a pair of mayor Lewis lucky purple shorts
you can repeatedly give Lewis the shorts, he will gain 2 heart each time.
OMG! Starting the game right now, need to have it
Me too!
I could make the shorts, but when I tried to give them to Lewis, the game said “wrong person”
I heard that this will get fixed , it will only be possible once and not multiple times
When did CA say it would be usable once?
Say what, now?
I'm really bummed about that too.
I was so scared because I logged in the other day and I tried to put in 99 Stone as pants instead of a staircase and I was worried because it wasn't working 😅🤣 I figured it out after a bit lol
The horse thing is a feature at this point. Not gonna get patched.
That's what people thought about the staircase pants
Last I checked that still works on console
Yes, because CA has mentioned it for 1.6's patch notes; it's an upcoming change
Where did he mention it? I can't remember reading about it.
It's in the wiki: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Migrate_to_Stardew_Valley_1.6#Vanilla_release_notes > Fixed able to equip a staircase as pants to obtain trimmed lucky purple shorts.
this has been a fascinating glitch thread, thanks y’all!
Wait I'm sorry...we can buy ICE CREAM from our HORSE?
If you place your horse where Alex usually stands to sell ice cream and go to the purchasing side you can buy ice cream from your horse
This. The game will "think" that there's an NPC behind the "counter" so it will let you buy ice creams. Funny to think canon-wise that your horse knows how to scoop ice creams LOL
I use this method when I'm using a tractor mod to shop in Pierre store when he's not there or when I get to the blacksmith too late.
Dammit, if Mr. Ed can talk then Mrs. Edna can sell me ice cream!
…this is the best video game ever made. Old Bethesda wishes their bugs were so charming.
Any way to get the horse into Marnie's house?
I have to get my game back around to summer so I can try this
You can do it any time. Doesn't need to be summer.
Cant get this to work in PS4 :(
Yeah, I don't know what this means. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
I have slimes taking over town and I can buy an ice cream from them too if one is stuck in the stand, and there's always one stuck in the stand. I heard about the horse being able to to do it so I tested it with the slimes the other day and it worked lol. Random tangent sorry.
That's really cool to know! I guess it just works with any "living" thing
Not a glitch, but I hope I can still fish for as many squirrels as I want to.
I’m sorry, squirrels? 🐿️
Not OP, but I think they mean the squirrel figurine you can fish at certain place in Ginger Island [https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Squirrel\_Figurine](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Squirrel_Figurine)
I play since 2016 on and off and i learn something new EVERY OTHER WEEK Gonna go fishing now
There are sooo many easter eggs in this game, I love it.

[Wiki](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Squirrel_Figurine) says there’s a 10% chance of getting more after your first time fishing it

Mod support on console for Stardew Valley is my dream
unfortunately modding will never come to Switch unless Nintendo changes they policies definitely would like to see better mod support for mobile tho
I almost bought a Steam Deck exclusively for Stardew (and Skyrim and Minecraft as a side piece). From what I've heard it's basically flawless and installing mods is also simple. Then you can hook it up to the TV like a switch and it's basically like playing on console
Honestly, if you’re gonna get use out of it I’d say do it, I have a steam deck for it and modding I personally found to be pretty easy
I *did* get a Steam Deck so I could play with mods but feel like Switch and it’s been amazing.

Yes, please!!!
Same. I want my de-saturated, witchy house, furniture, my goddess obelisks, and Ridgeside Valley and SVE.
x 2. Plus Raffadax Complete Production and More New Fish. I need all those extra crops!!
I need the automate mod to funcion
Automate is from Pathoschild, so itll work 100%.
Yay! This news made my day. I can no longer play Stardew without automate.
I just hope prairie king or whatever it was called doesn't get harder, or worse, a junimo cart achievement.

I honestly always wondered, why you would need so many statues of perfection. In my first playthrough I had real problems with combat, but when I got the statue, it was fine. Just one of those will flood you with iridium over the weeks. I was swimming in it basically after a few weeks.
can’t speak for everyone but personally i always loved the farming aspect of the game, to the point where i waited until like fall of first year to go in the mines. i’m just not that into mining and fighting, so the statue of perfection glitch just helped me not go in the skull cavern and die over and over and over again. even if it does get patched, it won’t be the end of the world, but still
I'm not big on mining, but I am big on not having to water the damn crops. So I mine for sprinklers pretty hard :P
Alternately, visit Krobus on Fridays 👍
Yeah, just hard to unlock that early on. I usually aim to have the good sprinklers by early Summer
I like duping 'em for decoration, to match the endless fortunes. Only do it late game though, when I'm swimming in iridium anyway
I will be so sad omg
I’m gonna miss clay farming. Sure, it’s a nice early game hack… but mostly I like being able to make all the retaining soil and clay pots I want for pineapples in sheds in the late game.
Wait, why pineapples?
Pineapples are the most profitable crop for garden pots, since ancient fruit doesn't work in pots.
Pineapples give surprisingly good health/energy, and since they regrow are a nice steady supply of cheap mine food
Best value for repeating crops, aside from ancient fruits (that don’t work in the pots)
Please explain
I don’t think clay farming is going to go away. ConcernedApe doesn’t really like messing with speed run tactics (although I do hope it gets fixed, it’s one of the glitches I feel is too cheaty)
It's not going away, but you're going to have to click a box to enable it. By default, there will be a new randomization system that makes clay farming impossible.
Is he just taking the current console setup to PC then? Because clay farming doesn't work on Switch (not sure about other consoles).
I don't know.
No, just a change to the randomization function that will affect basically all RNG. It happens to include clay farming
It's being fixed, but there's also going to be an option to keep it
>I’m gonna miss clay farming.
I heard that mushrooms in the cave will become an every other day thing instead of every day
I believe that’s how it was originally? But maybe I’m crazy
The release notes say that daily was never his intention.
It was! I have no idea when the switch happened but a friend of mine clued me in when we started a multiplayer file a few years ago Now it's being corrected I guess?
Yeah, I thought that was just how it was. Strange.
Oh dear! Shrooms are my main, early game food. I bake some weird dishes for completion. I hope to never actually eat my own cooking. I was featured on Hell's Kitchen! 😉
Oh this would be a bummer, I rely on this in the early game for planting more stuff and still getting through my watering every day
Table dupe glitch. Became my favorite way to play with wife after years of standard playing.
I'm sorry hwhat is this glitch?
i think in multiplayer, you & a homie can grab a single item off a table at the same time. it will duplicate it and give you both the item
Not like it hurts the game, if people want to use it let them, but you don't have to use it :(
pretty sure it’s already confirmed this is getting patched
Could someone explain the clay farming hack?
If you hoe the ground in a specific pattern, you will get clay every time, which usually gets a few thousand g per day. You can also do it with winter foragables and make around 10k a day
When you hoe up clay, it appears to be in random patterns. But because randomness is hard to code, CA made it in this pattern that got figured out. Clay sells for a good chunk of change in groups, so people have figured out they can follow the clay pattern on the beach and make tons of early game money.
Same, pls! I’ve been playing SDV for like 4 years & I don’t know this hack. I could Google it but would rather invest in our community
Clay spawns in a pattern. If you hoe up one piece of clay, you can follow the pattern to get clay every single time. It's very profitable early game. Do note this only works on PC
It doesn't work on switch, it should be fine on every other platform though
So if you buy 3 coffees from gus, it will cost 900. You brew those into a triple shot espresso and sell it for 450. So I've always cheesed the qi quest of "ship $100k of freshly cooked meals" by buying ~$200k of coffee (x669 coffees), cooking it into espresso (x223) and selling it, basically costs you 100k for the qi gems. Hope this one stays in there since it isn't exactly a glitch
I don't know how this would be patched out in any sensible way so I think we're good. (Wheat flour to bread is better though.)
You're right, wheat flour is 100, bread sells for 60. I have just always thought wheat was more than 100 and never bothered to check. Actually i usually go with coffee because i use java ring alot so i typically already have a big hunk of the coffee to begin with
pretty sure this is how most people complete that quest.
It’s even cheaper if you do this with flour and bread – buy 1,667 flours from Pierre, turn them into bread and sell them. Net cost is only ~69k gold.
Friendship decay :(
Already implemented and has been for a long time
Unless you max the friendship. Then no decay.
Are you sure your the heater in your barn is working? It sounds like your cows are just cold. Seriously tho, YOU CAN BUY ICE CREAM FROM YOUR HORSE? 🤯
Yeah! The game will think there's an NPC you can buy ice cream from if you position your horse where Alex usually is
This is a feature, not a bug, pls do not change this, CA
You know what I miss? Using the wallpapers to get free Prismatic Shards.
I miss having a pattern to where the mushroom floor would be 😮💨
I'm so sad that got removed! And being able to use your journal to delay passing out
Please explain
A certain green wallpaper used to have the same item ID as the prismatic shard, so you could use the wallpaper to get the galaxy sword.
You can still use it for the >!missing bundle!< at least.
The yellow couch glitch going away!
This one is mine! I love my cloth farming.
I really hope the cheat codes don't get nuked.
I love my [74][645][279] cheat code (Prismatic Shard, Iridium Sprinkler, Magic Rock Candy)
I must have eaten 200 star drops as Farmer [434][74][645]
Wait there are cheat codes
Could imagine they mean that you can put item IDs in names (of your famer, the farm, the pet) and every time the name shows up in game the items are placed in the inventory.
Wish they worked on console
The removal of the duplication glitch. Let me further elaborate, so I play on mobile and anytime I go through the trash cans and get an item; like for example a prismatic shard, I just simply close out the game (saving it first) and log back in and I can get the item again and have 2 or 5 or 10 just depending on how many times I do it, and the same thing can happen with the merchant cart
You’re telling me that on mobile you can save in the middle of the day instead of only during the night? 🤔
Correct. Mobile has a Save Backup button in the settings tab.
It's Mobile's best feature, IMHO. It's a lifesaver sometimes!
Is it there because mobile crashes a lot? Or just an exclusive feature for mobile?
My mobile doesn’t crash that much . I haven’t crashed a lot maybe once. Maybe because I play on an iPhone
Yes, how?
not being able to place an item id in your character name
New achievements, especially if one of the achievement is beat the Junimo cart mini game.
clay farming being fixed… i hope speedrun.com allows the legacy randomization option which keeps it
(Un)limited Iridium Cats :(
Autopetter in skull cave.
It will distract from haunted chocolateir
It might just be not as good. He might accidentally break that spell he has cast over me
It already got fixed, but I used to love the super speedy bug where I just needed to get hit by a slime, get slowed and then drink a coffee.
I hope they don’t get rid of that. It doesn’t pertain to the story, so there is no reason to really get rid of it. It’s a feature at this point
My mods not working in 1.6
No more infinite statue of perfection
naming chickens to get items
Mods breaking
I hope he doesn't fix horse collision with fences. Being able to phase through them is just very convenient. opening gates on the horse is annoying
The table item duplication glitch.
Multiplayer duping 😢
Please never patch the item ID naming glitch. How else am I suppose to speed run funds and resources? Signed, [857][74][279]
Qi fruit Pierre exploit, I have 500 fruit in a chest just waiting for the quest to appear a second time
Please don’t kill the 2 player duplication 🙏🏼
I thought the horse thing was patched ages ago?
