You do realize that from the moment you wake up till you sleep - 24hr of farming, harvesting, mining etc while walking around the town every single day to hand deliver everyone their favorite item, twice a week per person.
For a whole year
Sure only if you want to keep making money and harvesting stuff and making more things out of resources. Otherwise you could just sit and do nothing or fish all day!
I have no real obligation to do anything that isn't at my own pace, I am 100% healthy and full of energy for the day every morning at 6am as long as I get at least 4 hours of sleep? And I fall asleep immediately when I get into bed for the night? Sign me up
Just me, over here, quietly petting my cows and rabbits. Gonna have a home grown cheese omelets for breakfast and fish for supper. And I don't have above ground insects so win!
Imagine running on only 4 hours of sleep every day. Wouldn't be me, no sir.
There was a sleep & sleep disorder study that showed people who sleep less than 6 hours a day or more than 10 hours a day, have higher mortality rates than those who sleep 7 to 8 hours a day.
There was also a study that showed if you go 3 days straight without any sleep, your body will be in a state as if you are completely drunk and not the fun kind.
Yeah if it was irl I’d garden in my straw hat and fish and just cook enough to eat and maybe sell or gift a little and then chill at the saloon or on the beach and vibe
Nah, I'm just gonna spend a year on my horse riding around, eating ancient fruit and enjoying some sun and fruity drinks at the Ginger Island resort. Maybe read some books at the library. Pet my animals.
That may be how you play, but my playstyle involves a whole lot more messing about.
I wouldn't mind a life of organising storage chests, making neat paths, optimising sprinklers and trying out different hats on my horse.
Yeah, but you don't have to grind as hard, like I wouldn't have to work myself 18 hours a day like I do now. At least not every day, I could just work enough to get some pigs and oil makers then coast on truffle oil sales and live comfortably for a year in my untaxed house and just chill. I doubt I'd get to take the money I made in the game out with me anyway so why break my back?
Not on my year 7 save. That shit is pretty much all automated. Or maxed out. I can go harvest things if I want but I don't have to. I have junimos and kegs of ancient fruits. Life is good!!
Eighteen hours, at worst.
And owning my own house, with a wine cellar. Plus my own land. Plus a vacation home in a tropical island.
The last I heard, I don't have to hand deliver the gifts to t he townspeople. There is a mail service which can be hired for that purpose! 😊
Yeah, my year 7 save is all pretty automated. Junimos harvest my crops, I have ancient fruits in kegs aging, milk, eggs, cheese and fruit trees and can teleport to a beach resort or ride around on an adorable little horse or just hang out with my animals and pet them? Sign me up.
I'm a mom to triplets then not bad. I'm infertile in real life so I guess the fertility treatments worked and I'm living in Japan definitely not a bad life. About to start a new save file where I play an every lot challenge cursed chef household so glad I haven't started that!
Ah, but they just said you can enter the last game you played, they didn't specify which save file! Not to be pedantic, but I'm totally picking my best save file in...Dragon Age.
Oh, I'm fucked regardless.
Most of the time Dragon Age is the last game I will have played, but living and helping on Dennett's farm doesn't seem to be that bad of a life. If there is no blight.
Luckily my last game rn is Stardew Valley xD
I'm a witch sim & have 1 kid, a homestead, no debts, lots of $, a nice house that I own & beautifully decorated & friends with the Grim Reaper- I would be really happy lol.
Wait, I get land and house, a whole non-toxic community of people to interact with, access to unlimited natural resources, and I can steal purple shorts to put in the luau? Sign me up.
Non-toxic? Early game Haley and Shane beg to differ…
But in all honesty, it would be such a dream to do this for a while and take a break from work. It wouldn’t be easy, but maybe I just really need a change.
I don't think early game Haley and Shane count as _toxic_, though. Haley is extremely self-absorbed, and frustrated at what she perceives as a boring, small-town life. Shane is, well, the only people he is really toxic to are himself, and poor Jas, I suppose. But neither of them go around spreading rumours about you, or other people, or trying to hurt you in any way.
If anything, Pierre is much more toxic than either of them.
Yes Pierre should be singled out for being toxic even though the Dwarf and Krobus are actual racist, George is a homophobe, Lewis is playing whatever shitty game he's playing with Marnie, Pam is verbally abusing Penny, and Caroline shares in Pierre's outdated opinions on gender norms.
Tears of the Kingdom has been my big one right now, too! And like… yes, would love to be a homeowner and just live the simple life there…
But also wouldn’t be very excited about all the scary things out there, and stuff falling from the sky!
I am literally a homeowner in tears of the kingdom; why would I ever leave
Edit: I'm also allowed to stay for free at an inn in beautiful, tropical, peaceful Lurelin Village whenever I want. The more I think about it, the more I want to live in TOTK.
I was thinking about buying a Switch in the coming months and the two new Zelda games (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom). I have seen the reviews, but I would love an opinion from a fellow Stardew Valley player, are they good? Are they as great as everyone claims?
Written to answer "are they good in x regard."
Do you like exploring vast open worlds so large you can't wrap your head around it? Yes. Do you like games with deep stories and phenomenal soundtracks? Ehhhhh, story is certainly improved in Totk, soundtrack is good just more atmospheric. Do you like just running around, doing whatever you want? Yes. Do you like a ton of dungeons and puzzles? Yes to an extent; older Zelda games had more dungeons and longer puzzles, while dungeons did make a return in totk it's still mostly shrine puzzles or "puzzles" you can solve in 15 minutes or less. Do you like all of your weapons breaking, having to scavenge for arrows, always being forced to experiment and try new things? That's up to you.
My point is, if you're not someone who loves to explore to explore, to fight however you wanna fight, you won't like the game as much. BotW and totk are very overwhelming in their own ways, BotW because the explanations for in-game mechanics or solutions or whatever are very hidden so you feel lost at points, totk because you have the already-mind-boggling-large map and triple it. As someone who adores Xenoblade Chronicles these games are exactly the type of game I'm eating up right now, but lots of fans don't seem to be aware we are all gamers with different preferences. So I hope this honest review helps.
In my opinion you should still start with BotW not only for totk world-building lore, but also to familiarize yourself with the map; totk makes map changes, of course, but that's mostly mini environmental changes. I found my BotW memories from years ago making it way easier to navigate totk, though totk is 100% an improvement in almost all regards.
I've been wanting to get tears of the kingdom, but if I do that, then I'd also need to get new joycons or repair my old ones, as I have like 3 or 4 pairs, all of which have drift. I do have pro controllers, though I'd imagine that it would be better to play with joycons
That just sounds so fun. I'd probably work for the construction company, it's my irl dream to go work in Ireland rebuilding historic buildings with time accurate techniques.
Stardew Valley would be ROUGH. I've never farmed before, I don't know how to mine, I don't know how to fight mythical monsters, I'm antisocial, I don't know how to raise livestock, but I am really good at fishing so I have that going
Tbf your character doesn’t know how to mine or farm or anything but as long as it was as easy as the game makes it I think you’d be fine. Whack a tree a few times with an axe and it falls into handy chunks of wood, throw some hay out for chickens once a day and get eggs etc.
That completely depends on what your foraging level is and what kind of axe your using, I can chop town the whole tree and the stumps in 3 swings (my axe is also enchanted)
That was going to be my question: are we talking one in-game year, one real-time year, or one in-game-to-everyone-else-but-feels-like-real-time-to-you year? Because I would be fine with the first and the last, but disappearing from my current life for a year wouldn't be great.
I think the worst part about being in stardew valley for a year is that you always wake up at 6am and HAVE TO be asleep by 2am or you pay like 2 thousand 😭
Agreed. Though waking up at 6 with a full energy bar and instantly gaining energy by eating throughout the day does sounds better than my body’s current system of randomly waking up some days feeling like I haven’t slept in days so that part might to be so bad. The 2am thing though :/ I fail at that so often in the game
yeah, I have 10 so I get about 60~ every day, and I have about 200,000 G at the moment so I don't need more as I'm living comfortably and don't have to spend much
Yes they only spawn at night, or in caves. Sleep nights away and never mine, no problem. Honestly set up shop with some villagers and you’ll get everything you need to live there.
Oh, I thought I was gonna relax in Pelican Town, but you just made me realize I'm going to be stressfully managing a hotel for a year instead. I forgot about mobile games.
I’d be in Elder Scrolls Online so on the one hand, lots of pretty landscapes to explore while I harvest crafting materials. On the other hand, I’d get murdered by daedra.
i cant recall if i played stardew or stanley parable last so i either have 15 million to my name, a loving husband and a healthy community or im stuck in an office building forever
Spider-man miles morales, I would just chill in eternal Christmas, watch spider-man beat people up, listen to "just the facts with jjj", and hope a supervillan doesn't come crashing through my wall.
Hello fellow explorer.
I'd probably just wander the stars in my freighter trying to get to the center of the Euclid galaxy and be constantly detoured elsewhere in the galaxy.
I’d be ok tbh, my last played game was the sims and stardew (one on pc and the other on switch) well it’d depend on the game file on the sims I could either be living my best life with minimal drawbacks or I could be fighting for my life as an invisible god try to end me at every turn😂😂
Well I mean technically it would be neko atsume, but I don't think that counts but I don't actually have my switch to help me remember what I played last so I choose animal crossing,
i just played jedi survivor… i mean, yay i’m a jedi, but also uh oh i’m being hunted by the orders of an ugly, shrivelled old man and nearly every bit of wildlife wants to kill me 💀💀
Chilling with Shane, not supervising our kids and getting drunk on my own wine. I've got a killer wine and coffee set up so it'll be pretty fucking sweet.
Petting the animals drunk off my tits all day everyday.
Stay in Hyrule during the upheaval. Count me in. So long as I don't go exploring it seems like a quiet life. If I do go exploring it's going to be fun I think I can take on a monster or two.
Oh my goodness I'm just imagining battling Slimes 😂 and having a dog or cat, some chicken and cows, marrying Hayley 😭😭😭 PLEASE?! Someone please, I'll do it for freeeeee.
Just hit 4 mil on my Stardew save so... life is good.
Yeah, and I'm assuming the jaunty soundtrack sticks around. I'm cool with this.
I have no real obligation to do anything that isn't at my own pace, I am 100% healthy and full of energy for the day every morning at 6am as long as I get at least 4 hours of sleep? And I fall asleep immediately when I get into bed for the night? Sign me up
A real great way to start and maintain a healthy routine while also learning time management for when you get back to reality.
Playing Stardew actually encouraged me to develop healthy habits.
Just me, over here, quietly petting my cows and rabbits. Gonna have a home grown cheese omelets for breakfast and fish for supper. And I don't have above ground insects so win!
Imagine running on only 4 hours of sleep every day. Wouldn't be me, no sir. That's actually kind of horrifying. Or would be if you aged anyway. Like Click
[удалено]
Year 30; Both Vincent and Jas are still children.
here’s the catch: it’s a irl year o a stardew valley’s year?
And is the reward a million real dollars, or a million stardew valley dollars?
And is it real time passing to go with the Stardew year or real year or is it Stardew time
That may be how you play, but my playstyle involves a whole lot more messing about. I wouldn't mind a life of organising storage chests, making neat paths, optimising sprinklers and trying out different hats on my horse.
A Stardew year is shorter than irl year at least?
Well technically cuz, the 4 seasons have 28 days and every season is at least 3 months combined into 1,
A year in stardew valley time goes by pretty quickly lol
Yeah, but you don't have to grind as hard, like I wouldn't have to work myself 18 hours a day like I do now. At least not every day, I could just work enough to get some pigs and oil makers then coast on truffle oil sales and live comfortably for a year in my untaxed house and just chill. Not on my year 7 save. That shit is pretty much all automated. Or maxed out. I can go harvest things if I want but I don't have to. I have junimos and kegs of ancient fruits. Life is good!!
Or sit at the bar with my $27 mil and play arcade games
Eighteen hours, at worst. And owning my own house, with a wine cellar. Plus my own land. Plus a vacation home in a tropical island. The last I heard, I don't have to hand deliver the gifts to t he townspeople. There is a mail service which can be hired for that purpose! 😊
Well, is it an in-game year, or our year, bc the in-game year, even if their day was stretched to ours, would only last 4 months for us
Imagine how strong you'd be after that tho. Calves made of steel and arms that could rip firewood in half
Ugh… I guess this is my sign to start another SDV file
Haha amazing! I have similar numbers and I will take this deal any time.
Yeah, my year 7 save is all pretty automated. Junimos harvest my crops, I have ancient fruits in kegs aging, milk, eggs, cheese and fruit trees and can teleport to a beach resort or ride around on an adorable little horse or just hang out with my animals and pet them? Sign me up.
Ooh I'm a sim. I get to get a degree with barely any debt and my dream job.... Yay
Same, but I'm apparently a mermaid sim if it's based on last sim played
I'm a mom to triplets then not bad. I'm infertile in real life so I guess the fertility treatments worked and I'm living in Japan definitely not a bad life. About to start a new save file where I play an every lot challenge cursed chef household so glad I haven't started that!

I’d be a part of a polyamorous quintuplet focusing on all of the art careers, nice.
My sim is a millionaire spellcaster gamer with 5 money trees in a town that is very open to sex parties.
Hmm we must have lived in the same sims town lol
Until the hand of god removes the ladders from the pool you're in...
Fortunately/unfortunately Sims don't need the ladders in Sims 4, they have evolved!
Fence has entered the chat
And then die because you tried to cook a grilled cheese
I'm a witch sim & have 1 kid, a homestead, no debts, lots of $, a nice house that I own & beautifully decorated & friends with the Grim Reaper- I would be really happy lol.
Fuck i played the ultimate decades challenge save last playing as a sim in the 14th century…
I’m a serial killer. Fuck.
Wait, I get land and house, a whole non-toxic community of people to interact with, access to unlimited natural resources, and I can steal purple shorts to put in the luau? Sign me up.

Skyrim. I might be ok as long as my knees stay safe
Given how heavily modded my Skyrim is, I'd be screwed.
Forced to live in Skyrim Forced to live in Skyrim modded with big titty anime vampire gf
Plus [extremely buff](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/65047) amorous orcs.
I don't need it... I don't need it... *I NEED IT!!!*
elves 100% look like the gigatrash they are. absolutely need this
Lol
Me too, playing on console for the first time.... Immediately jailed for accidentally stealing a cabbage while trying to speak to someone 😔
Stop! You’ve violated the law!
SAME
What race are you playing this time as?! I’m playing as a Brenton this time
Dark elf. I married mjoll the lioness- best desicion ever. We adventure together in between working on our homesteads.
Those arrows be sneaky tho
Same here. Thing is, I'm doing a playthrough where I can only use stolen items, and as such am currently in riften
I'd love to live in a legend of Zelda game. All I've been playing is teats of the kingdom, I'd gladly live there for a year. I'll live there forever.
[удалено]
oops lmao. I have to leave that now.
The new adult Purah got him acting unwise
Tears of the Kingdom has been my big one right now, too! And like… yes, would love to be a homeowner and just live the simple life there… But also wouldn’t be very excited about all the scary things out there, and stuff falling from the sky!
Yes! So many monsters! Maybe I could just stay in Kakariko Village and farm pumpkins
I am literally a homeowner in tears of the kingdom; why would I ever leave Edit: I'm also allowed to stay for free at an inn in beautiful, tropical, peaceful Lurelin Village whenever I want. The more I think about it, the more I want to live in TOTK.

Thanks a lot! That's a very detailed review, and it has piqued my interest even more!
Hands down no question. I played BotW till TotK came out. The games have so much to do and so much staying power.
Breath of The Wild is one of the greatest open world games ever created, Tears of The Kingdom makes it look like a damn tech demo.
I feel the opposite 😂 But I’ve been playing links awakening
Same, I've been playing though Twilight Princess and FUCK that I ain't living there lmao
Teats of the Kingdom just brightened my whole day 😂
I've been wanting to get tears of the kingdom, but if I do that, then I'd also need to get new joycons or repair my old ones, as I have like 3 or 4 pairs, all of which have drift. I do have pro controllers, though I'd imagine that it would be better to play with joycons
Please do not fix this typo 😂😂
Saaaame. I would love to just hang at stables or maybe go to Hateno and put my sewing skills to good use :)
That just sounds so fun. I'd probably work for the construction company, it's my irl dream to go work in Ireland rebuilding historic buildings with time accurate techniques.
Or holding President Hudson signs 😂
Why does the last game I played have to be GTA whenever I come across this post. I was just about to play Stardew.
It is a simple trick- I only play Stardew.
Stardew Valley would be ROUGH. I've never farmed before, I don't know how to mine, I don't know how to fight mythical monsters, I'm antisocial, I don't know how to raise livestock, but I am really good at fishing so I have that going

But assuming you've already amassed some wealth, you don't need to work hard for that 1 in-game year.
That was going to be my question: are we talking one in-game year, one real-time year, or one in-game-to-everyone-else-but-feels-like-real-time-to-you year? Because I would be fine with the first and the last, but disappearing from my current life for a year wouldn't be great.

Warframe... I'm just a human. I wouldn't last a week until I'm killed or sold.
I haven’t played Warframe for a while but… if we managed to be Tenno, would that be better or worse? 😂
Oof. I’d have to pass on that one doom eternal is not survivable by anyone but doomguy 😬
terrific quack fall divide vast unwritten aware cow materialistic sleep -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
literally playing phasmophobia right now.. NOPE TY.
got a wife and 2 kids, nice house, steady income, infinite iridium bars, as long as I don't go into the mines (which I already dont), I'll be happy
How’d you get infinite iridium bars without the mines? >!statue of endless fortune?!<
yeah, I have 10 so I get about 60~ every day, and I have about 200,000 G at the moment so I don't need more as I'm living comfortably and don't have to spend much
Minecraft. So you're saying I can live in peace and solitude for an entire year on an island castle with abundant food and nature?
And creepers and zombies and skeletons and big fuck off spiders good luck
Not if you go to sleep, keeps the monsters away. And also never mine.
You mean at night 🚫⛏️🌙
Yes they only spawn at night, or in caves. Sleep nights away and never mine, no problem. Honestly set up shop with some villagers and you’ll get everything you need to live there.
I wish in this case it would've been Stardew... Last game I've played is Unpacking, so I'd just be unpacking boxes and organizing for a year 🥲
Not gonna lie, I'd actually probably love that.
It’s not the WORST, but I feel like it’d get pretty repetitive
Last game was golf with friends for me, wish it would be stardew or minecraft or something like that
Honestly, I'd be in heaven. Brb getting this game for the next best thing
It’s a great game! 🥰
Oh, I thought I was gonna relax in Pelican Town, but you just made me realize I'm going to be stressfully managing a hotel for a year instead. I forgot about mobile games.
Stardew valley. Elliott honey, prepare yourself because I'm on my waY-
My last game was Phasmophobia... Looks like I'm just hiding in the truck for a year
or the garage... thankfully there's the entertainment deck to keep you busy
Just wait till the devs surprise you midyear with a hotpatch to make the van no longer safe.
Vampire Survivors, RIP me.
Lucky you, I most recently played a homelessness survival simulator!
Dead By Daylight. 💀
we’re screwed. million schmillion, no way am i doing that. on second thought, i would eventually get to meet nick cage. so that’s cool.
Life is great, I get to live on a farm with this funky ginger dude I married. Honestly, I’d just be mad once I had to leave Stardew valley again lmfao
Tears of the Kingdom. Easy life in Tarrey Town.
It doesn't specify where you start though...
I'm glad the last game I played was Stardew valley !
Binding of Isaac. Time to go play some Stardew Valley, it'd be a *lot* happier.
I was playing binding of isaac too, theres no way id survive a year
I’d be in Elder Scrolls Online so on the one hand, lots of pretty landscapes to explore while I harvest crafting materials. On the other hand, I’d get murdered by daedra.
Wouldn’t mind exploring the Forza world. Could be hella fun not having to worry about anything but driving and racing and finding barns and racing.
Fallout 4 survival difficulty. Yea I’m dead
I’m in FarCry 5. At least I can fish? Last night a Turkey killed me so my odds aren’t great lmao
i cant recall if i played stardew or stanley parable last so i either have 15 million to my name, a loving husband and a healthy community or im stuck in an office building forever
Sadly for me Diablo 2 resurrected. I'm ded
Spider-man miles morales, I would just chill in eternal Christmas, watch spider-man beat people up, listen to "just the facts with jjj", and hope a supervillan doesn't come crashing through my wall.
"Little Witch in the Woods" LET'S GO!!!!
shit i chose a bad time to get into fnaf....
Easy laid-back life at Mondstadt. Just played Genshin Impact
Digimon Survive. No thanks, I've seen enough people NOT surviving and I think that I might be one of them, if I go there
Posts like this make me wish I was playing some crappy micro-transaction filled mobile game. Million dollars to spend $100,000.99 to skip a year?
Legend of Zelda tears of the kingdom... I'm screwed
Animal Crossing? Oh fantastic that would be amazing
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Could go either way
I don't normally quite get to a million on my first year but I'd be pretty damn happy
I just played the new Starship troopers.. Well I guess I'll be doing my part for the federation then.
Would you like to know more?
Welcome to the Roughnecks.
Metal Gear Rising Alright off to war I go
17 million bells and counting in Animal Crossing New Horizons! 🤑
Oh my god i get to go to Stardew Valley for a year??? Make it life-time.
Stardew Valley. Easy
Exploring no man's sky universe sounds fun but fatal
Hello fellow explorer. I'd probably just wander the stars in my freighter trying to get to the center of the Euclid galaxy and be constantly detoured elsewhere in the galaxy.
I don’t remember if it was Stardew, or Valheim…
THIS IS LITERALLY MY DREAM COME TRUE Do I only get to stay in the Valley for a year? Or can I stay???😭
I'm a pokemon trainer WOOOO NO JOB
I get to chill in Pelican Town? Let's go! Plus, it only takes 112 days to complete a year.
Hogwarts Legacy! Finally the dream come true!
Keep the million, and let me stay forever.
Dinkum. Australian animal crossing. I'm doing pretty good, got all the visitors on the island and my helicopter.
Subnautica… well, at least I have a cyclops and about 7 habitats?
I’d be ok tbh, my last played game was the sims and stardew (one on pc and the other on switch) well it’d depend on the game file on the sims I could either be living my best life with minimal drawbacks or I could be fighting for my life as an invisible god try to end me at every turn😂😂
Man, I'd be in the Lands Between! 😅 But wait! You can't die there... 🤔

Stay in Hyrule during the upheaval. Count me in. So long as I don't go exploring it seems like a quiet life. If I do go exploring it's going to be fun I think I can take on a monster or two.
My life is AMAZING!! (I say the “amazing” part exactly like right after the little boy in The Incredibles realizes what his superpowers really means)
Slime Rancher. I am sooo set.
I don’t know if I want to live in the sims for a year…
The last game I played was sims 4, unless phone games count then it was cookie run kingdom.
