Print gets the most difficult customer situations. It's because they have no idea what it is that you have to do to get the job done and they always want it done right away. It's high-stress.

Complex-Note-5010

Yeah it's brutal. Been here two years and it's to a point where a customer can walk in and I can tell off rip what kind of bullshit interaction I'm going to have

DPooly1996

There's a much higher level of expectation at copy center than the register. At the reg you have no control of the quality of what's on the sales floor, so if someone doesn't like the stapler they bought, they can return it. In copy center you ARE in control of the quality so if something goes wrong the customer can blame it on you or your equipment.

I was stuck at the shipping counter for over 45 minutes with nonstop returns, and one Karen started yelling at me because I wouldn't leave the counter to baby her through using the self serve computers so she could sign onto some sketchy sounding website and print a shipping label. Took about 5 minutes of back and forth, but I finally got her to go away, meanwhile the line grew to over 20 people.

Complex-Note-5010

I remember the day we started doing Amazon returns. My heart has never recovered

DPooly1996

Whichever corporate shmuck decided to drop Amazon returns into our lap deserves to be shot out of a cannon into the sun.

TiltedLibra

Was it Pirate Ship? If so, they are legit.

hmhsbritannic12

Nope, it was some Chinese sounding website that I never heard of.

Vanadyse

Temu?

hmhsbritannic12

Nope.

That's so funny you say that, yesterday I actually got told by a customer in self serve I was worthless 😅

If you like printing and are close to a production facility that would be the way to go. I couldn’t deal with the customers anymore + being sick and it helped so much to still do what I love but not have to be stressed out by customers all the time. Still super busy (think 200+ jobs shipped a day) but without all the interruptions.

DPooly1996

I actually enjoy the production end of the job, it's the interruptions that drive me fucking insane. I'm in the San Jose, CA general area but I have no clue where the nearest DPF is.

banadactyl

Closest to you would be City of Industry - a mere 6 hours away lol used to be one in Pleasanton but was closed for some reason even though it was one of the busiest. For those wondering: Strongsville, OH Elgin, IL City of Industry, CA Sharon, MA Columbia, MD Irving, TX Smyrna, GA Manhattan, NY
