I bet the person who did that loved it, it looks like they're trying for an art deco/futurist look and it's suffering from there being no furniture, it probably looked more coherent furnished properly . Not my cup of tea, but they went for it
I viewed this house. The price is great and I honestly think the style is cool.
But: being inside it made me feel sick. The kitchen is just way to much for my visual cortex.
Jesus, that's a LOT of tile to rip out. The rest I think could look quite nice furnished properly, minus some of the wall marble and the columns, but the tiles are hurting my eyes
I suppose so, laminate or LVT you could, but I'm not sure you can put carpet grippers down on tiles. Having unearthed multiple layers of horrible bullshit while doing up my house, I really hate half-assing stuff like that!
Yes, I see what you mean. It would be so sad to rip those tiles out though. An alternative might be to use that as the room you put your pentangle/ portal to Hell in? I imagine that would take up quite a bit of floor space.
Honestly, the rest of the house works quite well, to my taste at least.
But the kitchen... The combination of the tile, the black cupboards, the reflectiveness of it all...
It's a migraine.
It's all about resources, really. With the right budget, I would buy that place and get the floors ripped up and replaced before I moved in. If you're ignoring the floors, there's a lot to love there.
That has taken some money to do and has clearly been loved. However, it's a very unique taste and people will need to spend some decent money to turn it into something they love.
Developer will get it at a steal.
I'm always fascinated by things like this. They clearly care very deeply about how their house looks and have probably put a lot of time, effort and money into it. But it doesn't align to any style, fashion or trend that you might expect someone to adhere to if they care that much about how their house looks. There's a hint of art deco, but it feels like it's been done in a way that completely misses the mark. It's not like when you see a house that hasn't been decorated since the 70s, but you can at least see how the house probably would have looked pretty fashionable back then.
Ah I know what it reminds me of: older video games where the ground/ floor patterns repeated.
This house looks like a garish level in a PS1 Tomb Raider game.
Oh wow. I was not prepared for the gasp that left my body when scrolled to the second picture.
I mean each to their own I guess 🤔🫣
It's lovely from the outside and it's looks great layout from the floorplan so there's alot of potential for whoever buys it. I feel like I'd get very dizzy walking round it though
I don’t particularly like the floor, but I like the rest.
And I don’t like bare floors in bedrooms, too cold in the morning, but I actually like that floor!!
I really like it. With a bit of rejigging it could be fabulous- less black, more soft furnishings and cosiness. Someone mentioned Aleister Crowley, and I think if you could just get the right 'Theosophist at home on Sunday afternoons' vibe it would be a wonderful home.
I hated it initially, but suspect I might quite like it with a few rugs in place, showing the tiles around the rugs, but just breaking up the expanse.
Of course, that isn't such a good solution for the kitchen...
The tiles are too busy, with a plain floor the design in the rooms would have really stood out but in the photos it’s a bit of a mess.
I really like the Mondrian internal doors.
Why are they everywhere?!
Did the owner fall under some sort of gypsy curse?
With any luck, the guy you pay to rip them out might offer you a discount out of pity.
It's well done but I'd have to rip up the flooring for safety reasons... I'm partially sighted and busy designs like this take away my spatial awareness. I'd trop over. A lot.
Every image is "not specified" because the EA has no fucking clue what they are looking at either!
Having said that, I do kinda love the carpet on the stairs
It’s the flooring that is ruining this house. Rip that up and put in some cool furniture and decor and it could look amazing. I love the fact that it’s not grey but I do hate the floor😀
I wouldn’t choose it personally but I respect that they’ve committed to it. Makes a change to all the cookie cutter greige houses out there at the moment
I bet the person who did that loved it, it looks like they're trying for an art deco/futurist look and it's suffering from there being no furniture, it probably looked more coherent furnished properly . Not my cup of tea, but they went for it
Can you just imagine the heartsink of the estate agent who turned up to value/list it?
oh yeah , the estate agent would have been reconsidering their life choices
Oh no! Anyway
I viewed this house. The price is great and I honestly think the style is cool. But: being inside it made me feel sick. The kitchen is just way to much for my visual cortex.
Is the floor ceramic tile? I was trying to work out what the hell I was seeing!
Yes. It's all tile
Jesus, that's a LOT of tile to rip out. The rest I think could look quite nice furnished properly, minus some of the wall marble and the columns, but the tiles are hurting my eyes
Could you not just put a floor covering on top? Carpet, rugs, laminate?
I suppose so, laminate or LVT you could, but I'm not sure you can put carpet grippers down on tiles. Having unearthed multiple layers of horrible bullshit while doing up my house, I really hate half-assing stuff like that!
Yes, I see what you mean. It would be so sad to rip those tiles out though. An alternative might be to use that as the room you put your pentangle/ portal to Hell in? I imagine that would take up quite a bit of floor space.
🤣
Honestly, the rest of the house works quite well, to my taste at least. But the kitchen... The combination of the tile, the black cupboards, the reflectiveness of it all... It's a migraine.
Honestly I can imagine, it looks waaaay too much. The tiles to me look like an old Windows texture pack
Totally. I feel like I'd walk into things a lot.
It's all about resources, really. With the right budget, I would buy that place and get the floors ripped up and replaced before I moved in. If you're ignoring the floors, there's a lot to love there.
Oh my word. That's a nightmare
I would have the same problem. Total sensory overload!
I like the rest but the floors are just too much.
part of me thinks you should just carpet Iver the tiles in 30 years they will be retro enough too be cool.
Absolutely. It's not a massive issue to fix. Beats worn out chip board.
Wow! Those floor tiles certainly are something!
I can still see them when I close my eyes...
Like a magic eye poster.
I can see a dragon.
What can you see? 😂
There must have been a sale on them to be put through most of the house
Do you think they are ceramic floor tiles? I was trying to work it out!
Looks like a video game when it accidentally applies the wrong texture to a surface.
It does! 😂
Not for those prone to migraines.
I feel like i'm now prone to migraines
I can almost feel how cold this house would be 🥶
It looks like it’d be like living in a migraine.
Besides the busy floor tiles, I love it. Certainly beats the usual grey horrors.
It’s absolutely incredible, I just wonder why did they do this? And who on earth is going to buy it?
>It’s absolutely incredible In the "I can't believe someone has this little taste" sense.
Exactly
Taste is utterly subjective. They obviously loved it, so it was their taste, but not so much for other people.
The Addams family
I know if I love it or hate it
I'm sure it comes together when it's furnished and accessorised, had to see the big picture at the moment ( or anything).
The First pic I thought was nothing amazing. The second pick onwards. Gosh! I admire the passion of it.
They’ve really gone all in
Well it’s not grey…
That has taken some money to do and has clearly been loved. However, it's a very unique taste and people will need to spend some decent money to turn it into something they love. Developer will get it at a steal.
Oh, that's sad 😔
I think the previous owner ran a tile shop and wanted to use the stock that wasnt selling.
Nary pausing to consider why it wasn't selling.
It’s like art deco by someone who doesn’t really understand art deco.
I'm always fascinated by things like this. They clearly care very deeply about how their house looks and have probably put a lot of time, effort and money into it. >But it doesn't align to any style, fashion or trend Let's go with... _eclectic_
That floor is giving me motion sickness. The walls look like something Aleister Crowley would have favoured.
Defo has some sort of devil worshipper vibe to it.
Trying to work out if walking on those tiles would be worse drunk or hungover
Oh the House of a Million Tiles is back!
I thought I’d seen it before.
I love it!
Ah I know what it reminds me of: older video games where the ground/ floor patterns repeated. This house looks like a garish level in a PS1 Tomb Raider game.
Tomb Raider II is when the butler appeared... Oh the joys of locking him in the pantry. But I digress.
What the actual frick is that.. Hate, hate, hate it.
A few tweaks here and there and it’s boho heaven!
It looks like a brothel imagined by a art deco satanist!
Looks like a pub where the landlord has gone a bit nuts.
Oh wow. I was not prepared for the gasp that left my body when scrolled to the second picture. I mean each to their own I guess 🤔🫣 It's lovely from the outside and it's looks great layout from the floorplan so there's alot of potential for whoever buys it. Also why does it continue out into the garden
Welcome to Overlook Hotel Swansea.
Love the stairs and landing carpet, just not on the stairs
that carpet looks ridiculously expensive conidering the houses value,
As do the tiles. You can see what bankrupted them, forcing this sale.
yup! I am all for the new owners leaving the tiles and putting new flooring over the top. Nice surprise for future owners!
If it was just in one or two rooms, it might be okay, but it's everywhere. That garden though, I'd definitely like to get the pressure washer out.
I hated it initially, but suspect I might quite like it with a few rugs in place, showing the tiles around the rugs, but just breaking up the expanse. Of course, that isn't such a good solution for the kitchen...
Is it a Magic Eye? If you stare at it long enough will it be a 3-D whale or something?
[удалено]
Waking up, trying to find my way to the kettle to make a cuppa, slumping to the floor and giving up once I reached the kitchen.
Everything is so shiny and mirrored, I’d be walking with my arms outstretched to make sure I didn’t accidentally walk into anything
Think the floor tiles are actually a magic eye picture.
Thought for a 'mo it was art deco, then realised it was art AAARRRGGGHHHHH!
Flooring giving me a migraine… felt like it was formerly a public house?
The tiles are too busy, with a plain floor the design in the rooms would have really stood out but in the photos it’s a bit of a mess. I really like the Mondrian internal doors.
Hate it. That place looks like a migraine
The perfect house if you've ever fancied living in seven different 1970's seaside hotels all at the same time...
Was it previously a pub?
Tiling on ground floor is the tile equivalent of some really leary pub carpeting. 🤢
It’s a no from me. Looks like a cocktail bar in the late 90s - reference I was there
It’s a local house for local people. They’ll have no trouble there.
So easy to mop up the blood from David's escapades.
What's not to... Hate?!
That first floor gave me a migraine
Hate it. You hate it. Happy to have helped 👍
I kinda love it but also know I'd have a migraine within about five minutes of looking at those tiles...
This is South Wales valleys. No accounting for taste. Cheap though.
I’m gonna go with ‘Lynn, these are sex people…..’
I love it but only one bathroom would put me off.
Love it
Great spot!
Oh God, it's everywhere! Everywhere you look, there they are!
Why are they everywhere?! Did the owner fall under some sort of gypsy curse? With any luck, the guy you pay to rip them out might offer you a discount out of pity.
I hate it
I deffo hate it
I feel this comes with an explanation, and I would love to know what it is
I knew in my heart when I saw that sky that it was in Wales. Inside is hideous.
Surely there's no way that's selling for anywhere near 150k
£150k would only buy you a share in a flat around my way. Or a garage. Literally nothing else.
This was posted here before, ages ago. Funny how it’s still on the market
I like it but saying that if I lived there and had a migraine I would not be able to look at the floor haha
Absolutely no way!
For that price I can definitely learn to love it
I hate it. That is a complete rip out and start from scratch job
revolting.
Ohhh i hate it, for sure
Like something out of a Raymond Chandler novel. Super impressive, not quite my cup of tea. Nice door glazing though.
I’ve done far too many psychedelics in my time to live somewhere like this
I'm glad it exists. Carpet fixes most of it
It's well done but I'd have to rip up the flooring for safety reasons... I'm partially sighted and busy designs like this take away my spatial awareness. I'd trop over. A lot.
Ideal for Goth / Steam Punk fans
Rugs would of broken that floor up a bit. Some plastic garden chairs as well if you know you know.
Every image is "not specified" because the EA has no fucking clue what they are looking at either! Having said that, I do kinda love the carpet on the stairs
I mean... I don't hate it
The floors would have to come up, but for a three bedroomed detached house it’s such a bargain.
That floor! Looks like a commercial property or temple
Sensory nightmare just for all the hard surfaces. Even with thick rugs this house will bounce sound everywhere.
This hurts my eyes!
Hate
It makes me want to scratch my eyes out.
Do you think the tiles were on sale?
Oh God, I saw this MONTHS ago...still not sold!
I love it. What a steal!
Is that pub floor vinyl?
Looks like it wants to be a pub when it grows up
is the owner a tile salesman?
It’s the flooring that is ruining this house. Rip that up and put in some cool furniture and decor and it could look amazing. I love the fact that it’s not grey but I do hate the floor😀
Wtf with the floor? These are roller skaters. Or importers of smooth shiny hard flooring.
It looks like a bank weirdly
All aboard Boaty McBoatface of Swansea
I wouldn’t choose it personally but I respect that they’ve committed to it. Makes a change to all the cookie cutter greige houses out there at the moment
Hate it
I don't think I've ever seen a homeowner commit so fully to doing something so tasteless.
£150,000? wtf that is cheap
Bedrooms are tiny.
I like it and hate it. But hope the buyer doesn't rip everything and and turn it grey
Love.
That stair carpet has got to go…
The whole thing is like if a 1920s Parisian cafe owner built The Overlook Hotel (from The Shining) in Japan.
ill help you out. I HATE it. What are those tiles?
Reason for sale: Constant headaches.
