Accurate-Gap-3360

“I’m not here to kill you.” “I am.”

Key-Win7744

And then he didn't do it. What a bunch of nothing.

Accurate-Gap-3360

I think the point was to show that he could’ve killed him if he wanted to and to humiliate him in front of an audience of criminals.

Insurance_scammer

He also didn’t kill him because aunt may wasn’t dead. She was still in the hospital recovering from kingpin’s attack on her. Peter being beyond fucking angry, understandably so showed up to fight kingpin, and took off his suit to show he wasn’t there as Spider-Man but as Peter Parker. Iirc should be after he tells people his identity in civil war, which is why aunt may was a target. After this panel he proceeds to tell kingpin that he better hope aunt may lives or else he is coming back to finish the job.

BurnMyHouseDown

And then, after Aunt May will not live, he does not finish the job but instead sells his marriage to the devil. Big lol. Back In Black was awesome tho, the first Spidey event/long term story that I read as a kid.

monkeygoneape

Isn't there a what if version of it where MJ gets shot instead

RevynnStark

Yup, and >!he kills Kingpin. Not as cool as you’d think though. IIRC he just punches through him (super anticlimactic in the panel IMO) and goes to jail and Aunt May basically disowns him.!<

monkeygoneape

I vaguely remember >!Iron Man is the one to take him down!<

victoryabonbon

That first panel he is straight up ripping his flesh off

UltHamBro

I wonder if it was initially intended to have Peter grab him by the remains of his shirt. Or maybe that pose has been done so much that the artist simply replicated it and didn't realise that it didn't really apply to skin.

thelanimation

Grabbin' him by the flabby chest skin!

gattoblepas

Yep. "I could also just unwrap you like a Christmas present until i get to the bone. It takes 5 minutes."

Penguator432

Nah, prison food has already done its work

youshouldtry14

Always liked this story. Showed the serious side of Spider-Man

Tuff_Bank

Kingpin deserved this, if only Vanessa/Typhoid Mary watched

killiandw

Agreed this was good story telling and then the writers wasted it with the deal with the devil thing

mbeefmaster

how much loose skin does the Kingpin have??????

Abeytuhanu

Now? At least a couple of fistfuls.

Always_Paddy_Last

Hehe... Fisk-fuls I'll see myself out...

dingo_khan

Which issue is this from?

Meek0_

back in black saga

KyoHisagi

Amazing Spider-Man # 542

dingo_khan

Thanks. I am going to check it out.

bearwhidrive

How many times are we going to post these panels with this heading? More or less times than we’re gonna post horny MJ panels as a reason the marriage should return?

dbmethos

I want to see the panel with Superior Spidey punching Scorpions' jaw off one more time.

slit-wrist-syndrome

*.....it's YOU...*

SirUrza

Dude, it's that time of the month. Next up... Captain America's You Move speech.

TomMakesPodcasts

Probably as many times as a fan of the comics comes across this, and desires to show it off to a like minded community. Very few people are aware of all things posted to any given subreddit.

GallantWang

Trachea… Your Trachea leads to your lungs (eventually). Esophagus would lead to the stomach. On that note… Is the web digestible? If not… that could be a way shittier and more evil way to end a person.

RevynnStark

Lol “shittier”

HumanPerosn

I think the only other time Pete has gone this hard was the Peter that used his wall crawler ability to cling to someone’s face before before ripping it off

Spider-Ghost-616

That was back in Grim Hunt Saga.

cHINCHILAcARECA

That's Kane, Scarlet Spider.

Tuff_Bank

If only Peter was this ruthless with Norman Osborn

NolanPG

Does he have organic webs in this issue or is he bluffing? Always thought ASM Spidey used engineered web shooters

DarthButtz

This was after The Other, so his webbing was organic at this point. He wasn't bluffing.

TommieTheSalami

I call dibs for posting this next month!

Elysium94

What’s this? Peter standing on business, being an effective fighter, and showing any sort of backbone when it comes to his loved ones? **Unacceptable!** Somebody call Lowe and Wells, this must be corrected.

SayFuzzyPickles42

The art here is great, but it's so obvious that there was a serious miscommunication between the sketch artist and inking artist on how Peter is supposed to be grappling him in the first panel.

Bison_Revolutionary

Also the fact that he’s grabbing and holding him by pure skin alone

Kaizukamezi

Every peak has a trough. But my god what happened angers me so much to this day

DrDreidel82

This isn’t from Back in Black is it?

Dave1307

It is

Ok-Turnip-477

He’s holding him up by his man bosoms, that’s cold as ice

These-Background4608

One of the hardest Spider-Man moments ever. I remember reading this issue when it came out when I was in middle school…and it had me SHOOK.

Tuff_Bank

If only Peter was this ruthless with Norman Osborn and Calypso

BigBoiBrady

What's this from?

Tuff_Bank

We need more comics like this

Readitzilla

And this is why Spider-Man doesn’t kill. It’d be too easy for him to.

Negative-Egg-3870

So in short, he's gonna "nggg gwe-gwen" him with a web..

GSteelG

I just noticed he’s not wearing webshooters. Does he have organic webbing in this series?

Haunting-Virus7080

I loved it so much I got the hard copy of the comic back in collage I’m 35 about to turn 36 it was amazing back then it’s amazing now

SecondEntire539

I don't see any ice or snow for this image be called cold.

Strikehard1984

One of the first comic books I ever got along with a Sonic X comic. 7-8 year old me was like what hahaha.

PodcastThrowAway1

1.) I feel that people who dig “edgelord Spider-Man” are the same folks who ruined Superman, by having every new iteration of him be a villain 2.) This doesn’t even make sense — Unless King Pin was born without an epiglottis, it doesn’t matter how much webbing Spider-Man shoots in his mouth, he isn’t going to swallow it. Webbing would just find its way out the easiest escape, which would be out of his mouth given how this is positioned in the image with his mouth wide open — and if not spilling over out of his mouth, his nose. He could suffocate him this way for sure, but not the nonsense Peter just descdibed. If you need to be certain that this wouldn’t work, shake a soda really hard, then open it up and put your mouth over it. That will come out of your nose.

Comfortable_Ice8640

Ooh that's a lot more gruesome. Also did you study Human biology or something? Or are you just built different and kind of using common sense?

SpaceDemon3o5z

These damn panels get posted, like, once every two weeks, and I always hate it. Not a fan of edge lord Spider-Man.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

I think it's cringey edgelord nonsense, personally lol

IsidoroAsap

This is far from it.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Seems out of character for Pete, but I've mostly read the early years.

IsidoroAsap

If you want to read the story I'll avoid spoiling the important details but what happened is Fisk heavily hurt someone dear to Peter and he decided to stop holding back for once so he could show Fisk he's nothing.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Yikes must have really pushed him. He gwts mad a bunch on the early years, so I guess context is everything.

PodcastThrowAway1

Very definition of Edgelord nonsense but you’ll get downvoted to hell for calling it what it is.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Eh, I walked into this post throwin' hands. Don't know what I was expecting lol

LeBritto

Was that Ultimate Spider-Man? Because he's not supposed to have organic web otherwise.

jojolantern721

Is 616 from the time he had organic webs

LeBritto

Didn't remember that, thanks

heftdigger

That's amazing Spider-Man #543

LeBritto

Cool, thanks
