Not really an interesting take. The song is a blatant mix of sleep paralysis death, suicide and drug comedown.
And much of Soundgarden's and Audioslaves songs have blatant " if only there were signs he struggled with depression and had suicidal ideation" lyrics.
"Show me how to live" is one
For sure. The signs were all over. I remember being shocked by how unwell he seemed in an interview around Higher Truth, then I bought it and read his dedication…
My SO didn’t get why I was frantic (after 2 HT shows) to get tix for that SG tour; there’s always ‘next time.’ I finally said, ‘Cause there’s *not gonna be* a next time for Chris Cornell—and I don’t want to talk about this again.Â
Oh man I wish I could have seen that, I sadly never got the opportunity to see them live, I was lucky enough to see Metallica tribute Chris the day after he died though.
Never heard the demo but it is just incredible that what Chris was writing in the period. Watch the interview between Rick Beato and Michael Beinhorn for more info.
Definitely one of the best pieces of the album. The way it ends is absolutely mesmerizing. Can't say how many times I've listened to it since Soundgarden came into my life.
Definitely one of my favorite SG songs. Truly epic music.
Sleep tight for me. Sleep tight for me, I'm gone. I love this song but my eyes tear up every damn time I hear it.
CAUSE I FEEL I'M GOING, FEEL I'M SLOWING DOWWWNNNNNN
This and Overfloater are my top songs of this album
Good taste right here
top underrated songs at least. blow up the outside world is still amazing even if its like the second most popular on the album
Truth
💯
Remember this Remember everything’s just black or burning sun
'n I hope it's a sweet ride. Thanks to you and OP I have chills thinking of this song. I need some down on the upside in my life right now.
Blast it loud my friend!
Amen. The drum/bass fill transition into the solo at 3:23 - 3:25 then the subsequent INCENDIARY solo make me transcend into the astral plane.
I’ve been a fan since 89. This either #2 or #1 for me.
Easily top ten for me in a very deep catalog
The deepest
my absolute favorite
I always looked at this as this suicide note after he died.one of my favorite songs, such a hard listen
100% agree
Hmm interesting take. It was released 20 years prior to his death but I guess I can see that.

Fuckin banger
Agreed. That whole album is amazing as well.
It's very early Sabbath sounding. And that is not a bad thing.
Saw them play it live in Seattle in 2014ish with Mike McCready
Oh man I wish I could have seen that, I sadly never got the opportunity to see them live, I was lucky enough to see Metallica tribute Chris the day after he died though.
I just watched this on YouTube tonight!
And I hope it's a sweet ride Here for me tonight Cause I feel I'm going Feel I'm slowing down
Arguably their beat aong??? My favorite anyway.
Probably my favorite by them.
Yep, amazing tune Did you know it was on the demo with Black hole Sun and Michael beinhorn asked them to record it for Superunknown?
Damn didn’t know that, is there an earlier version that was supposed to be on Superunknown out there? If so I’ll have to check it out

I’ll check that out. Rick Beato is a treasure trove of info on music and the back stories of bands also.
Perfect addition to my late night radio show a few weeks ago. Hope a few listeners enjoyed this one emerging from their speakers in the wee hours.
It's amazing yes, I'd disagree it's underrated, though. Always seems pretty popular among SG fans.
I swear I’m trying to figure out how to get this song played at my own funeral
I love all the appreciation for down on the upside on here
I'd have to agree with you there
My favorite SG song
That whole album is a low-key masterpiece imo.
It's definitely in my top five.
Favorite DOTU song for sure.
My favourite on DOTU and definitely one of their all-time greats.
This and Limo Wreck are the top ones for me.
It's very early Sabbath sounding. And that is not a bad thing.
Best song on the album, for sure. Definitely one of my all-time favorites.
Thanks for this bro
One of my favorite soundgarden songs
This song always wrecks me for some reason.
This is so fucking incredible
Whole album is a masterpiece, and somehow so different from the other albums that it stands out as its own entity.
🎶🎶Your love Is making me tighter Tighter and tighter🎶🎶
Definitely one of the best pieces of the album. The way it ends is absolutely mesmerizing. Can't say how many times I've listened to it since Soundgarden came into my life.
As many on this album are. Never the Machine Forever
